It is really hard to image the Talent and Perfectionism of The SAJB Kids that Joan Chamorro has built. TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE.
Joan is a miracle worker with these talented young folks. Wow!

1. That's exactly what you are - merchants of groove, swing, joy and accelerated heart beat.
2. Biggest compliment: you begin to sound better than the original and its greatest interpreters; Jerome and Thad are looking down on you from above, tears of joy and amazement in their eyes.
Joan has the best saxophone section since Jimmie Lunceford. Bravo!

Magnificent orchestration for a syncopated rhythm so complex to interpret! an applause also for the direction of audio-video that brings the whole performance to very high levels and not just "from the rehearsal room" :)
Tremendous - this band just keeps on getting better and better. These young musicians show amazing talent - every performance is a joy and if you keep up this standard, Joan, I will have to keep repeating myself ... I don't have enough superlatives left in my vocabulary for suitable alternative comments !!!

Just perfect. I will remark the flawless performance of the saxophone section. You need a lot of hours of practice to be able to play a difficult piece like this at this tempo.

I think Mr. Magnarelli has played with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra which was called the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis when they were alive and Groove Merchant was first recorded then.

Brilliant version of one of my favorite big band pieces! Joan looks so intense and intimidating when he directs, kinda reminds me of Fletcher from Whiplash haha. But I'm sure he's a nice guy.

This is ridiculous, kids playing like this. Haha. Joan Chamorro’s Barcelona SAJB in 2017 doing “Groove Merchant”. Nice little sax section run begins @1:08. That’s Violinist ELIA “VENUTI-GRAPPELLI” BASTIDA playing Tenor on the left end of the sax section. Trumpeter VICTOR CARRASCOSA taking the solo is 16yo. The 2 girl trumpeters are sisters, ALBA ARMENGOU is 15 here, and her little sister ELSA is 13 here (of course, they also play Alto Sax). Trombone solo is by RITA PAYES, who is 18 here, and graduated from the SAJB a few months ago. Drummer ABRIL SAURI is 15 yo here. The pro inspirational ringer is NYC-based trumpeter Joe Magnarelli who solos @3:53.
