The boy lied.
He definitely broke the needle
Wrong to rule in favor of the boy. He broke the needle.
@lynettewashington443 I disagree with you. There was no concrete evidence that he broke the needle. I just don’t think he would have confessed to breaking the record. He didn’t know the monetary value of either. Being a kid he probably would have thought the record would have been more expensive since it was bigger. I think the man broke his own needle. It was never discussed that they even played a record. The judge made a good call.
Wow, I can't believe this judgment. Its soooo wrong. Even the Judge knows it. So sad for the man...
Just because he confessed to breaking the record, doesn't necessarily mean he's being truthful about not breaking the needle! He probably calculated that if he lies about it, the judge will believe him which she did!😂

The boy broke the needle
They BOTH testified that when the boy came over so he could be taught how to take care of the fish, he talked about the record player with the plaintiff AND they even played a record. So obviously, if they were playing records on Friday, that means the needle was where it was supposed to be when the plaintiff last used the record player and the record player was working perfectly. Flip ahead 3 days and we have the young man admit that he went for three days to feed this man's fish and on the third day, he started messing with the record and the record got cracked because it fell out of the case.. So it would be reasonable to assume, therefore, that if the young man admits to breaking part of the plaintiff's property when he was the only one who had permission to be in your home, at the time. He was supposed to be feeding your fish.) and more than that is broken, it is likely that the unsupervised child also broke the very expensive needle and Mom is only wanting to pay for the record because $30 is A LOT less painful to part with than $660 for a needle. And my father owns a setup like the one the man had. He has told me many times that the quality of the sound matters and how much he is invested in the different pieces to make the sound as flawless as possible.
600 bucks thats nuts.you could buy one for $9 or $ 10 bucks back in the day.
It's called inflation. back in the day you could buy a house for 30k or less. For people who are audiophiles they are very exacting of quality.

Mom is cute and he tried to date her and she said no and he sued. But the kid was cutting like a DJ and broke the needle.
I'm not saying he's lying but I do know some kids lie without blinking an eye.
