2005 ZR750/Z750S 1 Year Review. The Best Middleweight Ever?

  • This bike is an amazing example of the breed in my opinion. A 748cc inline 4 making a claimed 110hp @11k rpm and 55ft/lbs of torque @8200. Top speed is a claimed 155, but doesn't feel stable at that speed at all. The suspension is great on the highway but doesn't inspire confidence thrashing the twisties. This is by far the best middleweight bike I have ever ridden despite that. The brakes are great. Power delivery is pretty linear even full throttle until 8k rpm, at which time, it tries to lunge out from under you and reach for the sky just like a Ninja 750. A perfect second motorcycle for a new rider or a fun daily driver.

    That's the same exact bike I had except it had aftermarket pipe. I had to get rid of Mine cause illness but it was the last bike I have ever owned. It only has quartermile time of 11.6 and 0to60 in 3.7 seconds but mine got good on gas. I'm going to watch video cause it reminds Me of Mine. I wish I did not have my illness I would still have a bike thanks for the upload. Peace and God bless nicebike.

      The Leo Vince slip-on on this bike is rowdy. I loved it, took good care of it, and sent it on to a new home. I hope you enjoy the content and wish you the best. Thanks for checking it out.

      @stripprclipR1 that's the same exact exhaust System that was on My 2005 Z750 You will like it it seemed like that pipe gave it some extra top end. I wish I was not disabled I would still have one. You can't go wrong with that set up. Peace and ride safe.

    How did you raise the front seat up? I have the same problem with my seat. Any advise would be appreciated.

      It's a 2 step process, but very easy to do. Give me an hour, and I can get video up on this mod.

    What is that interesting style of bar-end/hand guard?

    • @stripprclipR1
      @stripprclipR1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are a cheap version of the style bar ends used in Moto GP. They are more or less designed to keep the levers from breaking your fingers if you go down.

    Did adjusting throttle body help with vibration at all? Mine has an extreme vibration right around 5k pretty much as you're entering the power band. It's worse than any other I4 bike I've owned. Would really like to find a way to tone it down

    • @stripprclipR1
      @stripprclipR1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only noticed vibrations under that RPM from just putting around town. I would suggest synching and checking your secondaries. If I slip-shift from 4-7K, the front wheel goes up. I don't feel anything strange between 4 and 10k. If you pick up a similar vibration @ around 125, rear tire slightly out of balance.

    • @stripprclipR1
      @stripprclipR1  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you watch some of my CBR videos, that bike is tuned to fly. It HATES being under 5-6k, and will wheelie or boil the back tire just because.

    • @firstname4082
      @firstname4082 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stripprclipR1 I should say the vibration is above 5-6k. Pretty much if I'm riding on the interstate at 80 the bike feels like it's about to vibrate to death. It just can't cruise at that rpm comfortably

    • @stripprclipR1
      @stripprclipR1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@firstname4082 If you don't get the same vibration at that rev range in lower gears, it's 1 of 3 things. Wheel bearings, wheel balance, or brakes. I don't have any such issue at that speed or rev range. I can take my hands off the bars at 80mph on this bike any time. I put all new wheel bearings, tires, and brakes on it when I got it.

    I have the same bike great. However i have al lot of vibiration.

    • @stripprclipR1
      @stripprclipR1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the vibration is only there when it is moving, wheel bearings, wheel balance, and brakes NEED to be checked. If your bars shake AT ALL, 1 of these is your most likely suspect. I replaced bearings, tires, and brakes when I got this bike, and have never had a vibration issue.

      Anywhere I can find them. Motosport.com has parts schematics as well as a great selection of oem parts. I check there, search Ebay with a part number, or Boonstraparts.com. The last is allegedly the largest motorcycle parts breaker in Europe. They only ship DHL Express to the US, but I get parts from Holland in 3-4 days.

      I have the Leo Vince slip on and a K&N air filter, so I run the throttle bodies rich. I've never really checked the mileage, honestly. I'll do that in an upcoming video.

      With stock exhaust, stock air filter and 100 octane gasoline( Europe) average is 46 mpg(5.1liters/100 kilometers).If you change gears and ride under 4k rpm you can get 50 mpg

      I don't actually talk much while I ride. I don't want a mic in my helmet, and it would diminish my own experience. I have abundant other content as well. You won't see a lot of us on TH-cam that jump street and sport bikes regularly.
