Found the brackets. It's from a website called Japanparts and it's labeled under "Subaru AV Escutheon". The part number for the website is 484-001-024.
You guys are awesome. Wish I lived close to you guys I'll go have you do mine audio work you guys are some of the most professional people I seen and you really take pride in your work guyses work
I have watched allot of you videos and I am amazed at your professionalism! I am in northern NJ right next to Manhattan, you would think we would have the cream of the crop here but we do not, we have idiots from best-buy and in order to get that we have to pay 10x the amount you would charge there in Florida. just venting keep up the nice work I enjoy watching you work
Impressive video. Out of curiosity how much would cost to do this upgrade on a similar car (2019 BRZ) with all of those new parts and labor? Thanks in advance.
9th ! That looked pretty amazing. A part of me misses being in the install bay but seeing some of the interfaces and other BS you guy's go thru now makes me happy I moved on. I just sit here and watch you guy's and save on aspirin 😀😀
That wiring harness looks indeed like a nightmare :( but when y'all do it it turns out soo Pretty!! I didn't realize the 86 had so much of a maze of a wiring harness. For my opinion y'all should go step by step on how to wire the whole harness so y'all can show us because today's modern vehicles are so difficult put stereos in come along with the wiring. So if you could do that for us that would be so great please and thank you! :D
I’ve been waiting forever for a video like this. I’m going to do this soon on my 2016 Subaru BRZ but with the Pioneer AVH-2440NEX instead and also with the OEM Audio Plus aftermarket sound system. Is the process the same or slightly different?? All that wiring looks so complicated. Pls help 😅
What is the light you have on the inside of the car!? Does it wrap around and hang from the roof? Also this was awesome watching, because I put the 107 in my car about 2 years ago and had a lot of the same issues... wish I would have went with the iDatalink Maestro though, it looks like a much easier swap...
Hi Dean and Fernando. I have another question. The 2019 86 TRD SE I have has a factory backup camera system that displays on the rear view mirror. It's very hard to see since it is so small, and my eyes tend to focus on the reflection rather than the backup camera video. I want to show the video on my head unit. According to iDatalink Maestro, the RR paired with the SU2 harness will do this, but after installing it the head unit doesn't switch into camera display mode when in reverse, and the display still appears on the rear view mirror. I checked for the reverse trigger wire you mentioned in the video, and the factory harness doesn't have it. I suspect the camera video feed from the camera is also missing from the factory harness since the factory head unit didn't display it either. Do you have any advice or suggestions on how I can get the camera video feed to appear on my head unit when in reverse? Thanks again for all of your help. You two are the best!
I recently purchased a maestro RR for my 2014 Toyota Corolla from crutchfield. Be very careful ordering this unit from CF. They have a bad batch (iDatalink personally told my installer this and also they confirmed they warned CF of the bad batch) and CF are still sending out the bad units. IDatalink CS is remarkable tho. I ended up buying a new unit locally so i could get on with my install.
This is a great video! I was wondering if you could show how that you fixed the backup camera wiring harness issue... You said that you needed to "pin into" that part of the harness... can you show exactly how you did that? Thanks in advance!
I have a question. I have a 2016 Scion FR-S. I'm using the idatalink website to find which products I need for my pioneer radio. Its telling me i need the SU2 harness instead of the TO1 harness that's in this video. I'm only trying to retain the stock rear camera and the usb and aux port that comes with the car from the factory. Should i get the one idatalink is telling me or should i get the T01 harness? Or will either of the two work for me?
I had the same problem the t01 kit wasn't matching up with the install instructions so idatalink sent me out the su1 harness an I had no problem after that
As a heads up to those who dont already know, you must be an idatalink or omega retailer in order to access the flash programs needed for the some of their products. . EDIT: It would seem that the Maestro unit flashes are accessible by the general public.
Crazy 8s Drums not true, all you need to do is set up an idatalink log in or account and you are able to flash the units. It’s super easy.....not sure where you got your information from.
I read through dozens of Amazon reviews because I was hoping to use idatalink in my older car. Lots of people were upset that they couldn't download flash programs because they weren't an authorized retailer / installer of those products. Maybe those lots of people were wrong or idatalink has lifted those restrictions.... I dunno.
Crazy 8s Drums there has never been restrictions on the maestro product at all. You must use internet explorer from a PC. But it tells you that right on the website.
Crazy 8s Drums i kinda have the feeling that the people leaving those reviews didnt take the time to read anything. So instead of asking or reading they leave uneducated reviews. I have installed around 100 maestros so far and only had to reflash one once. All of these I have just flashed under my brothers log in because my laptop saved his info when he logged in and set up his deal. He is NOT a dealer. Just a normal person. I am a dealer. But once again that doesn’t matter. If you are nervous about it have the person your ordering it from flash it. All they need is your radio info and serial #. And if you want custom steering wheel controls programmed or if you want default
That's good to know. I was looking for the ALCA databus / remote start module, which does seem to need an authorized dealer to access flashes for those.
Hi @Dean & @Fernando, watch you guys all the time, great video So! I just finished hooked up a 2009 Toyota Corolla with a Maestro AMR & a JVC KW-V940BW. Setup everything including Vehicle info and Gauges. Now everything in the console, Vehicle Info & Gauges are all there, but the Maestro option disappeared on the screen which means I can’t setup the Gauges again.
SO I watched your video and I subscribed to your channel because I like your mannerism. Now the question. I have a 2018 Corolla, and iun my TO2 harness were some adapters for auxiliary inputs. It has a round micro plug with a with a green/blue wire and a blue plug for the module. Where does the loose wire go? The instructions do not explain this. Thanks
Hey Dean- Fernando, I did this to my 2017 WRX Limited with the Harman Kardon, everything works but somehow my front speakers are kinda weak. I can't barely hear them. Now, my question is, since I wanted to retain the factory amp, do I need to use the RCA from the new HU (W4400NEX) to the RCA from the RR or use the the speaker wires from the pioneer harness and match the colors to the RR? I didn't use the speaker wires, I just plugged in all the RCA from the W4400 harness to the RCA cables from the RR. I checked all the RCA connection and everything plugged in correctly but both front speakers are not really working.
Hi, thanks so much for this video! I just installed a jvc kw740bt with a maestro into a 2017 toyota 86. Crutchfield said I needed the to1 maestro harness, maestro site says I need the SU1??? When I have the canbus hooked up and hit the brakes it triggers the backup camera, any advice???
Thanks Dean and Fernando. Always enjoy your videos. I have a 2019 86 TRD SE, and am about to replace the factory radio with an ILX-207. I bought the RR and the SU2 harness. The instructions for the SU2 harness show amplified and non-amplified options. I bought the car used, and I'm not sure if the stock radio has an amplifier or not. Is there a way to tell by looking at the factory radio or testing some connections? Thanks for your help!
Yegads the wiring horror! Am I glad I've only got 5 wires from my truck going to my Alpine CDE-HD149BT...just enough to power it up and auto dim the front when I flick on the headlights. Vehicles got real complicated! (There are 3 pairs of RCAs and the remote turn on lead heading for the amps from the deck and the BT mic though...)
Hey guys, awesome video!!! Question, can a Halo 9 iLx-f309 be installed in a 2013 Scion FR-S and also I'm on the fence between the Halo 9 and iLx-207, any suggestions?
Yes the f309 can be installed. it is just a bigger screen, here is a picture of someone who installed one in an frs: www.reddit.com/r/ft86/comments/aml66i/new_radio_deets_in_the_comments/ I personally like the ilx-207 more, it is a cleaner more factory looking install and doesn't block other components of the car.
Ok so I have the 2017 toyota 86 model and I bought the pioneer avh w4400nex also the maestro rr with the su2 however I do not have a factory amp anymore as i replaced it with a different aftermarket amp so is the install with this gonna be the same
No, Dean and Fernando put those on every car to protect both the steering wheel and the shifter, as well as protect any components from being damaged by the shifter. With some cars it can be easy to accidentally bump a touch screen radio into the shifter and damage it. The sock helps mitigate that.
So you can use any Aftermarket HU and retain the factory reverse camera. I have had a Kenwood, Pioneer, and now Alpine and all can use it. The only unique thing about it is that it uses a 6V to power the camera, so if you get a voltage adapater any stereo will take it just fine. In this case they purchased the idatalink maestro that did this for them.
My bad guys I thought you can buy this worldwide, I thought most Toyota's share the same plugs? Installed this in my toyota aurion which is a camry in the us, didn't need the steering wheel box or anything eles it will all plug in, looks like a mission for the us people! Plug the harness into the car and tap a 9volt to a speaker wire pair. If you hear a pop sound there is no amp.

Please say me what is the reference of subaru brackets? I want this for a Pioneer AVH-9100DAB
