Am I the only one who is wondering how the hell this works? This is amazing. How are you receiving touchscreen coordinates from the head unit?

@@BeatSonicUS I mean why and how is the headunit sending that data? Is this some kind of standard protocol that it is implementing? What data line is it sent over? I know hdmi supports 2 way communication but I have never heard of it being used to transmit touchscreen data
REVEIW: Installation is definitely easy, as promoted by their online youtube video. (Installed on my 2017 Toyota 86) However, can honestly say for the price I paid for this module I would of been better off buying a new top of the line head unit. It is very buggy when it comes to switching in between the oem interface and carplay interface. Second, sometimes the oem interface radio audio will loop in over the carplay audio even though your in the carplay screen vice versa. Moreover, when a phone call is initiated the receiver on the other end always have issues hearing when in the car play interface. When I make calls from the oem interface it is perfectly fine. Lastly, when jumping into my car you'll ALWAYS have to manually switch over to carplay by either pressing the aux input or use of double tapping the volume knob which makes it a real hassle. 2/10 overall.
We appreciate your honest feedback as we strive for transparency and are doing our best to ensure our products are matching customer expectations. As for being buggy going to and from the carplay interface, make sure the double power button presses are two firm presses. Lightly pressing them won’t register to the radio and may not switch over. You may also select aux icon to switch into the carplay mode. The radio audio while the carplay interface is being shown in the screen happens when you are not in aux mode prior to switching to the carplay interface. If you let source is in radio, then the radio will continue to play even when in carplay mode. As for the phone call issue, please follow the steps as guided in the instructions to improve call quality so that all calls are routed to the vehicle Bluetooth system. And correct, you will need to double press or select aux to go into carplay every-time. This was intentional and oem equipped carplay systems usually are set up similar to this method where you will have to manually select the carplay mode in the vehicle.

Is this product safe? Does it do any data collection of any kind (independently of the carplay data collection). Also, does this product make the infotainment system lag (as seen in the video)?. Thanks
This product does not do any data collection of any kind. The current version won’t lag the system.

Yes you can run multiple apps on carplay

I have a 2016 FRS and I've used 3/4 different head units, and they all take the door speaker sounds away (not working unless you actually cut wires) will this affect that?
Cutting wires to fix the door speaker does not sound normal. Our kit will not fix any preexisting conditions.

Yes you can use your factory cam with this kit

Good idea but you might as well buy a car play unit for like 250$ . I just installed a Sony radio in my car for 230$
That’s another option to go aftermarket. But won’t keep the factory look. Different solutions for different people and needs

Hi, I have a 2017 Corolla iM with the same P/N of headunit as the one in your GT-86, just wondering if this kit will still work with all the steering wheel controls as its technically not listed in your "compatible vehicles" list
Yes it will work with all the steering wheel controls if the part number of the radio is the same

If you have a backup camera this kit will continue to work while retaining your backup camera functions.
I have a 2017 86 860 special edition, my car pkay will not work what so ever. I’ve had a ifew r evand and i using everything that google has told me too, apparently whenever you plug your phone in, it’s supposed to automatically go to car play, but IT DOES NOT. I’m so upset, how can I get this too work?? the Apple Car play option isn’t even in my setting on my radio, and it’s the exact same radio as in your video. PLEASE HELP.😭

The new kit uses the factory microphone

It will for all years as long as the radio look the same
Will this work with the volume controls on the steering wheel of a 2018 Toyota 86 out of the box or is a separate adapter necessary like I think you need with aftermarket stereos?
This will work with the steering wheel controls as long as your 86 is equipped with one from the factory.

Will this work with Scion FRS 2016? can it do Wireless Carplay? And does it keep OEM Mic for calls and rear Camera function?
Yes it will work if you have the same radio. It uses the oem mic for calls and rear camera still functions

Beat-Sonic my 2018 brz limited comes with apple CarPlay one it’s stock head unit but i can’t use it . Would you know why ? I’m local as well . I also have my driver door speaker giving out like its giving out a short periodicity

Carplay gets updated. Last significant update was from ios12 to iOS13

i have a gt86 gts 2017 with the stock trim dash unit, if i replace it with the one this front dash has with the 2 pieces, one that fits around the radio and other fills in the right side, will it fit?
