You can change the Mazda Infotainment to a touchscreen like CarPlay, also, it's just not setup that way by default. Changed in settings. The spare tire is under the jack/tool cover in the rear deck.
Bought the Premium PHEV in July. This car fits me perfectly. My wife and I don't drive more than 25 miles per day. We are retired and don't have to go long distances. So far we've been getting 63 mpg on average using EV mode. Super driving car with super comfort, I love it...
@@godofdunHas that been verified? Because for awhile there were reports, one from a Mazda dealer, that the CX-70 would be the same length, without the 3rd row. To me it makes more sense that the CX-70 is shorter, but, that's the big question.
Great review guys😎 I have the Turbo S with the inline 6 and I was able to get 29.2 MPG’s on my 1250 mile road trip without using cruise control. Couple of things…there should be a spare tire underneath the charging cable tray. For people wanting to lease a PHEV, the $7500 rebate is available when leasing and makes this car the “Real Deal”.
Regarding your air ball at the end of your review (25:49), you understand why there isn't as much space inside as those other vehicles you mention? It's because the CX-90 is a RWD design with a long hood (which adds to the overall length and reduces the available interior space front to back when compared to other FWD vehicles that are around this same length), and an automatic transmission under that center console (which I agree should have been somehow made deeper.) So it helps to put that air ball in context. Having said that, I agree that it's not space efficient, which is a bummer, but, it goes with the territory.
We just bought a 2025 PHEV. We had a CX5. We love it so far. I thought it would be too big for me but I really like it. The safety features are nearly overwhelming there are so many. The HUD is something I never knew I needed! We are mostly local driving so don’t come out of EV very often. We are taking it to Oregon this weekend to see how it does on a longer drive.
Good review! I think you all should provide context for the positioning of the seat in front when you measure your knee section, though. For example, with that second row leg room, you aren't fitting two 6'+ adults comfortably.
At a minimum, at least tell us whether the 2nd row seat is all the way back in it's track, or if it's set to a comfortable position for you sitting behind yourself.
Just remember that with this car, to replace the timing chain, you’ll need to remove the engine because they put it in the back. If it’s out of warranty you’re looking at very high cost. Hopefully you’ll only have to change it once in the life of the vehicle.
I may be in the minority here and maybe it’s the color choice for the interior but I don’t find it to look any more luxurious than many of the other options in the main stream segment. Everything is literally nice these days.
I think both of the other color options look a lot better and seem to have better materials. The black looks very bland and the silverish plastic doesn't look good.
There should be a spare tire (donut style) under the plastic storage tray in the rear deck (looked like there might be a subwoofer in there with it). Dealer and I found it on delivery day when I asked about a spare. 3.3 Turbo Premium model
So my opinion they should have stuffed this drivetrain into the cx 9 put 21 on it because I think the cx9 body looks better for one year then come out with the 90 just my opinion
It looks very good but the third row I don't think so but for this car going almost to $60,000 I would get it and it looks amazing yeah I would get it for sure but I wouldn't go for the phev I probably would have went for the turbo as Premium Plus maybe I'm right by the phev but the turbo has Premium Plus have like all the luxury features and stuff so I might give that or might get a turbo s Premium Plus
Nice review guys. However, no PHEVs for me. I would opt for the Premium Plus Turbo S model for sure. Your reference to the MPGs attained, vs the EPA numbers is normal. No One get the EPA numbers for any vehicle - rarely anyway. The CX-90 and the CX-70 (God knows why Mazda didn't reduce the price on the CX-70) are keen competitors the Acura MDX as well. I have a 22 MDX Advance - lease expires in August 2024 - the Mazda is on my Short List to replace it. My MDX is a terrific vehicle, loving the 22 Redesign and enhancements, but the Mazdas offer a savings of over $10 K with a MDX Type S vs CX-90/70 Premium Plau Turbo S. Last point, the MDX was just refreshed for 2025 - no More Touch Pad (Thank God) - convering to a Touch Screen. And the Mazdas get about 10% better EPA MPG ratings over the Type S ! Both using premium fuel!
I own this model and am surprised that you like the ride quality. I'm coming from a highlander, which I much preferred. I rushed the test drive, which was a mistake. Ride is much rougher.
It will probably in the future rn they’re testing the waters in the luxury/premium segment to see what people want and don’t want. That’s why there’s 9 different trim levels 😊
Recent software updates have all but eliminated those transmission gremlins. I got my software updates (and recalls) during my first maintenance appointment.
Where was the front station positioned when you measured yourself in the middle row? Without the front seats position mentioned, it doesn’t make any sense? Thanks.
Great review of this Mazda cx90 plug-in hybrid premium Plus looks cool I think this car is smaller than Palisafe Calligraphy Mazda has done a great job with all the Mzada trims however palisade price is less than this Mazda nevertheless this car doesn't have big like Palisades I liked artisan red colour to this Mazda looks extremely exclusive two and a half litre four cylinders engine paired with a 17.8-kilowatt lithium battery pack total system making 323 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque 26 miles epa I liked the grille classic kind of black waterfall grille we've got chrome trims that are going to through the led headlight I'm little concern to this trim if we think about price 59 thousand it's more than Mazda has made this trim overall looks upscale thanks.
What maximum speed can you reach in EV mode in a Mazda CX90 PHEV on a regular highway without much elevation? Also, does it switch back to EV mode if we release from the gas pedal?
It has the regen braking I believe I’m not 100% sure. It’s a hybrid so when you drive in EV made it uses the battery but when you reach a certain speed the engine kicks on.
I have easily driven my PHEV at 80 mph at full electric. Now, it doesn’t accelerate all that fast at full electric, but you CAN easily do interstate speeds.
I was really into this car with 6 cylinder until I saw a review about maintenance with that engine (practically whatever happen to the engine you have to take it out from engine bay because there is no space to work) so now I think that PHEV might be the sweet spot from a repair cost point of view.
The Car Care Nut is such a Toyota apologists. What he says is only applicable if it proves to be unreliable and has any engine problems. Mazda is one of the most reliable car brands and the 2.5 liter SkyActive engine has proven to be quite reliable.
Once you get your favorites configured and you get used to the knob you learn to love the knob. Also, it keeps your wife from wanting to drive your car😂.
Debating this or a cx-50 turbo premium plus. Both are great, the cx50 is much smaller and maneuverable, but worse mpg and not as much storage....i can save anout $1000 a year in gas with the phev cx90 but it also costs about $10k more than a fully loaded cx50

You guys are great, but I find it hard to believe that you didn't catch the "irregardless" slip up. It's "irrespective" or "regardless." I sure hope they didn't teach you that UK. Since you guys are in the business of public speaking, may I suggest two books. Strunk and White's "Elements of Style," and Dale Carnegie's "How to win friends and influence People" are two of the most impressive books I've have ever read. Additionally, there is a chapter on married life and the importance of sex in it. Keep up the great work. I spent 30 years working with my brother, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
The back of the car is a little too large the rear looks like a CRV. The nose is excellent. The interior is super nice. Choose this between others in its class.. Better then Toyota IMO. T
At 16:11 you say that the max of 75 cu ft (behind 1st row) is more than the MDX. But go look up the figures for MDX - 18.1 / 48.4 / 95 cu ft behind the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st rows respectively. I have argued that the 95 cu ft figure behind the 1st row must be wrong, because the Grand Highlander is only 2 cu ft larger at 97 and the GH is clearly *much* larger than the MDX. Anyway - the numbers seem very similar to this CX-90, with the exception of the volume behind the 1st row. Do you have accurate data for the MDX, because IMHO that 95 cu ft number must be in error? Thanks for the review.
Those measurements on the MDX are using a system that's not the industry standard. When MDX is measured using the same techniques (there is more than one version of SAE) as the rivals, it's maximum cargo space is less than 75. Thanks, and hope that clarifies!
Plenty of torque...the transmission/clutch is not set up for launching off the line. Once moving, the S model can keep up with comparable BMW/Mercedes (there is a TH-cam where this is explored).

I'm still waiting for the cx 70. I think the cx 90 is too big.
I think mazda is very underrated. They definitely offer value for money.
What’s the cx70 gonna be?
@@xBeeGeeFor all intensive purposes it's a smaller 90. Shorter w shorter wheelbase, also gets the phev and inline 6.

I hate it when people can't keep a consistent speed on the interstate because they aren't using cruise control.
@@Hallowsaw that's unfortunate.
It does not require premium fuel, difference is only 4 horsepower so it isn’t even recommended.
Also, looking back I wish I would have leased… would have made it much cheaper monthly AND cheaper to purchase at the end of the lease.
Great looking vehicle overall! Glad that Mazda is finally offering a 6-cylinder engine & 8-speed auto.
