  • Barolo is often referred to as “the King of Wines”. So, what is it, that makes Barolo one of the greatest Italian red wines? Let's find out! In this video I will discuss from what grape variety Barolo is made, where is it made, it's aroma and palate flavors, recommended food pairing and why Barolo is so expensive.

    Anything with truffles is a perfect match for Barolo & Barbaresco. Now I want to open my Barolo early this weekend.

      It is rare in the wine world. It is hard to find a wine that works with truffles, as usually truffles overpower everything wine has to offer 🍷

    Over the years I've also come to favour Nebbiolo wines above all others. Indeed, there are some very fine Nebbiolo wines outside of the Barolo and Barbaresco regions, for example Langhe and Ghemme among others which tend to be less expensive.

      Definitely, and even outside Italy, I recently tasted one in blind tastings and it was stunning! 🥂

    I just opened a San Silvestro Patres Barolo 2018. Only 34.95 Canadian and Decanter World Wine Awards scored it a 91. Other "experts" scored it from an 88-90. I totally agree with Decanter. Its D for delicious with all the aromas you mentioned and very nice structure, balance, grippy/smooth tannins if that makes sense and mouth watering acidity. YUM YUM! This Barolo is on the lower price end but to me a bargain, once in a while that is.lol Cheers 🙂

      I think it truly is. 🍷Majority of my red wine collection is a Barolo. Unfortunately we are not alone - and it has been increasing in price steadily! 🥲

    I came across just one video of your’s and was hooked! You pack a whole lot of concise and interesting information in a small package. I loved the initial misty scene and how you tied it to another important tidbit. One request, please share cheese and vegetarian pairings as well as there could be vegetarian vinos in the audience as well. Ciao!

    Great post, as always. I really love Barolo, but get my hands on it less than I’d like due to price, and because mine still need years to open up. Finally got to Barolo in May of 2022, and was able to enjoy many excellent, aged examples, and also fell in love with the region.

      P.S. I tried to respond to your other comment in the Super Tuscan video, but I am not sure why it disappeared. Just wanted to ask if You have tried the second wines of iconic Super Tuscans You mentioned? I mean Le Volte from Ornellaia is very affordable. Or the La Serre Nuove?

    I honestly think most wine is just vile but I love barolo wines for some reason. It's mild and doesn't make me gag at all.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is so interesting, because I would say that it is not a wine for beginners. (What I mean, is that not even wine professionals often appreciate the high levels of tannin and acidity). You have a unique taste profile. And I am happy that in a vast wine world - Barolo is the one You enjoy. The only issue is that - it is quite expensive wine. Cheers! 🥂🍾✨

    Barolo king of wine, is pure marketing. Unapproachable wines unless you pay a fortune, and waited 500 years, plus it all depends on your personal taste. I pass. For nebiollo, a Barbaresco is cheaper and generally ready to drink. My opinion.
