  • EV West isn't like other electric car builders. They aren't trying to save the planet from gasoline emissions, they are trying to build race cars using electric technology for events that can best use that technology. The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, with a total driving distance of under 20 miles at very high elevation, is one of those events. We take their Pike's Peak M3 to the dyno to find out what 400 Kilowatts means in Horsepower, then to see how it drives.

So you are telling me that with all the sophisticated emissions systems on modern cars, cars are still the No.1 polluter in the world? Not factories, power plants or corporations? If CO2 emissions are such a problem, why can't we just plant more trees? Do trees not convert CO2 into oxygen? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

1.50 $ a litre in Canada now for Regular Unleaded. No end insight as gas is becoming an economic braking force to the recession recovery. Countries that want to move forward from Oil dependence better move fast before there is no money to invest towards EV's. Electric vehicles should be subsidized by governments to make up for lagging technologies until systems progress. If we get trapped by peak oil the Middle class will disappear.

So this guy doesn't like to 'shift', and he doesn't know that 1hp is 0.76kW, he thinks an M3 weights 2200lbs rather than 3200lbs, and he doesn't seem to be interested in this awesome future tech. How did he get this job? Electric is the future, bring it on.

I wouldn't miss the sound. 850 ft lbs of instant torque will quench my thirst just fine.

IMO I don't care what propels a car; as long as it is decently quick and/or handles like a boss. You people need to be grateful that others are willing to take a challenging route to be different.

People with e36s should just do this to their cars so I can have their S50/S52 to put in my E30 lmao

    I want an electric E36. 400kW is about 536HP, that's enough.

What's wrong with making commuter cars and saving the planet? While driving a mad torque beast?

this is actually kind of interesting when you think about the torque. it brings up the question of electric semi trucks and probably even electric construction/commercial vehicles that require a lot of pulling power.

Love hearing the resistance from old school petrolheads. They see first hand the amazing performance of EVs yet they still find something that bothers them about it.
