This video is a brief description about the Sport modes of the most popular BMW models. Entry level BMWs do not have Sport Plus mode, but there is a way around it. This focuses on the their bread and butter from 3 series up to M Performance models. Actual M cars are excluded due to their more extensive drive mode setups.
Enjoy!

Now I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and muck around with this... I guess until you practice and use them they won't be familiar. Thanks for the interesting video!
Thanks for your feedback
Nice video. Couple things… there are actually even more Sport modes as you can press the traction button and enter Sport Traction, Sport Plus Traction, and Sport Individual Traction. It definitely changes the handling allowing for more slip. And of course you can take all traction systems off too which actually shows up as yet another set of sport modes.
And I believe you need the adaptive M suspension to get the suspension to change depending on your drive modes. It’s a $700 option and also gives you the Adaptive drive mode.
It's a wonderful video! Great & thorough explanation of all the various driving modes. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching. I try to share the information. Please ask questions as well.
Thanks for your clear and concise explanations.
Thank you! Good to hear.
Thx Mate for the nice Explanation! ✌🏽
Hey! Whenever you are in Manual even in M/S manual, you can switch back to automatic by Pulling Upshift then Downshift and releasing them together on the paddles, have to be pretty fast
Nice Video i was a Little confused about the d shifting and s 😂
So would putting the car into sport mode with the button and then moving the gear lever over into sequential be better performance wise than just putting it into sport?
i was just looking for a way to put my 2018 bmw in sport plus but i did not know how till this video came up
Awesome! Thank you for watching
Something you may have missed, probably because your car didn’t have the option is the “adaptive” drive mode which is sort of like sport individual but it changes drive modes automatically depending on like how far down your foot is and what not
My car is missing that. I prefer a more manual raw experience from 5 series and lower models. Thank you for your comment!
So when the shifter is to the left, in S1 (but not manual)... M1 etc.), will it still automatically change gears when you hit redline? Or do you always have to change the gears when shifter is moved left?
Always have yo change gear. On the left it will never change gears
When the shifter is to the left and in s1 It changes automatically for me unless I use the shifters but maybe it’s different for older models
@@benjamincristofoli8792the car is programmed to "protect" itself from bad shifts in manual mode..
So when I’m going to race should I have my car in sequential as well to fully unlock the sport ?
Well explained thank you!
You are writing in the description that 'entry level' G20s do not the sport plus mode. Does this mean that you need to have the M-Sport suspension to have sport+?
Nice explanation, but the sequential gears, what does it mean ? What's difference from having it on D mode ??
I'm going to make a video eventually. I believe the gears shift differently similar to M cars with Drivelogic function. The are held longer and also remain in Manual Permanently until moved back to drive. Manual usually goes back to D when gear lever is not in left position.
@@theautointuitive3172so is putting the car in sport mode then sequential better preformance wise than just putting it in sport mode
nice overview, picking up my m340d later today
Why you can't setup the dampers on sport individual?
That is a great question that I don't have an answer to yet.
@@theautointuitive3172 I got the answer its only with adaptive suspension option
Actually theres more modes. You can put the car in sport plus and transmission in S and also disable DSC by oressing 5 seconds the button
Is there a way where I can change the car completely on sport mode, even if you get in the car the next day and still being in sport mode?
No. Safety reasons
Hi so if the car is in sport plus mode and I knock the gear lever over to the left are the shifts automatic or are they manual ?
did u find out
if you put it to the left you have to shift yourself
If you put it in sports plus and move the shift over to the left, does that make a difference at all or is it only when you’re in comfort it makes a difference?
In both modes, it makes a responsive difference. Comfort mode will be more responsive while drinking a bit more fuel. In Sport Mode, the car's "Drive Logic" like in the M cars will be heightened, especially if you like Manual mode. It acts more as a sequential transmission.
Thank you for this video, I appreciate your explanations. I have a question, can you change modes while driving or you need to set it when the car is parked?
.hou can change the modes whilst driving
You can change while driving.
2019 330i doesn’t have sport + what should I do to “unlock” it
bimmercode
Car without Sport + are in Sport + when gear lever is to the left. Optimum performance comes from hitting DSC OFF button once. Holding it for 6 seconds turns all assistance off.
Do you need the M Sport package to get Sport + on a 330i?
@@davidalenick1246 no pretty sure Na 330i don’t come with sport + doesn’t matter the package u gotta bimmercode it
I have 2021 M sport 330i and it has sport mode- sport plus and individual sport as well as adaptive mode
Great video. Did the Sports Plus mode come with your car from the lot? Or did you have to code it? Thanks in advance.....
Came with it. Some cars don't, which I haven't understood. If you only have Sport, move the gear lever to the left in sequential. It seems to bring another higher level.
@@theautointuitive3172 use bimmercode to enable sport+
Is this for all new models or only the M one? I drive a 2 litre diese X4.
Certain models have "Sport Plus" when pressing the Sport button repeatedly. More basic older models have Sport Plus when gear selector is to the left and Sport button engaged. There is an illusion of one Sport mode in some less luxurious models below a 3 series level. Older X4 models Sport Plus includes Dynamic Stability Control. Now you can have both and manually turn on DSC.
@@theautointuitive3172 ty u are great!
very difficult to Understand.
i am confused 😮😅
Play it gain Sam, Play it again.😮
I really didn't get what changes in sport plus compared to sport. I've heard something about the car losing its traction control in the plus mode. Would it be right? Greetings from Brazil, bro! 🇧🇷
Well explained 👍🏽
Thank you!
When I'm in sport plus and come to a stop my car jerks a bit. Was wondering if that's normal. Sport and comfort it doesn't do that.
It increases your breaking sensitivity or break pressure depending on how you describe it.
Why i dont have sport plus?
Still don't understand sport plus
It’s turns DSC off
Sport plus makes the steering more stiffer
It maxes out throttle response as well
Hello, my sport comfort and eco buttons not working when I press them. Anybody tips?
You know I never used to be interested in cars that much, up until recently 🙆🏼♂️I don’t know for some reason my interest in cars has been activated (I’m 19 now) I guess every dude has that in them
Reason why I’ve become so interested is because my mother drives a BMW 118i M sport which is the version that was released I think 2 years ago
It’s an automatic and MAN DO I LOVE DRIVING THAT CAR!!😭😭it’s a drug
So now I wanna know everything there is to know about BMW and cars in general but more specifically BMW
Never realized how powerful BMW is🔥🔥🔥
By the way it’s not confusing how you explained BUT it would’ve been nice to actually see you driving in each of these modes you explained
I think that would’ve helped
Thanks for taking the time. So, what happens when you put your foot in the air😊?... JK
Way too confusing. I’ll stick to Lexus.
@@TeamFish15 Thanks for watching!
Horrible explanation!! 🤦🏽♂️
Thanks for watching
For me its all clear, maybe this car is not for you.
@@donaldduck2801 it’s the explanation not the vehicle 🤦🏽♂️
How about you explain it then?
I learned a whole new level that I didnt know was there! Great explanation that the BMW sales guy didnt or couldnt explain.
Certified yapper. Shit vid. Next time just explain the drivemodes as simple as possible without using “uh” every 5 seconds 🤙👌👍
What a terrible video
