Overly expensive grocery stores don’t carry items that are different from Walmart or Target; they are just gimmicky stores for the rich and famous to show I’m not like you.
They're the same foods, just packaged differently lol. Also "bio" is only a marketing tactic to make food more expensive, but no one wants that conversation.
I worked at a pricey, fancy grocery store for a bit - nowhere near as pricey as the one she talks about here, but definitely not a normal grocery store either. I realized that what they are paying premium prices for isn't the food - it's being able to shop in a place where they don't have to interact with poor people. That's what they are paying for. They don't want to be around us unless we're serving them. It ain't about the quality of the food at all.
However this would involve you actually being a normal person with a grounded view of the world! In a kinda sad way, people raised in generational wealth really lose track of what is a reasonable price to pay for things. Almost feel bad they’re getting scammed (but not really lol). “It’s a banana Michael, what could it cost, $10?”
Deadass. I bet NO one shops there, that’s why the prices are so high. To re-coup…but no one shops there bc the prices are high. It’s a vicious cycle…I smell a bankruptcy in a few years if they keep this up. Maybe in 2y, but give them by 5-6y more MAX
I just went to the Erewhon website and saw the EXACT SAME carton of pasture-raised eggs I buy at my local supermarket for $12! I pay $5.49. That's insane!
WHY ON EARTH IS IT LEGAL TO SELL THINGS AT SUCH HIGH MARKUPS. HOW IS IT OKAY. WHY ARE THERE NO PRICE CAPS FOR THINGS AS BASIC AS F*CKING FOOD. IT IS INSANE.
I, too, once happened to visit a market with very high prices and I just felt scared at the prices where everything cost more than $100, which could have been bought much, much cheaper and one might say I ran away from there (for me this is done for the sake of separating classes, namely the prices are set for limiting only for “our own”)
you should visit nunavut and see how expensive groceries are up there then, it’s insane and corporations and the settler colonial government has been allowed to get away with this for a long time. it’s by design when it comes to indigenous peoples it’s active gen*cide. this is why food sovereignty is so important
I know! Here in Florida where I live, they sell probiotics at Whole Foods for like 70 something dollars on sale. I didn’t even know probiotics could cost that much. Definitely overpriced. Probably not doing much for the gut as well.
quoted from Wikipedia "The name "Erewhon" is derived from the 1872 satirical novel Erewhon by Samuel Butler. In the novel, Erewhon, an anagram of "nowhere", is a utopia in which individuals are responsible for their own health and prosecuted for the crime of being ill." it sounds like a dystopia to me and the supermarkets look like dystopia too.🦆
Yes! that name never sat well w/ me and I couldn't place why. I think that name was also in more than just 1 movie (can't remember which) but it was always the name of something really bad or disturbing.
I really hope we get back to the culture of the 2008 recession where it was considered gaudy and gauche to flaunt wealth while everyone else was struggling 🦆
I think, in some ways, the fact that a lot of us Plebs are discussing the issue is proof that a lot of people find this kind of content gaudy. Just cause people are trying to ride this wave of content in a desperate attempt to get famous or gain sponsorships doesn’t mean we all have to follow suit. Working on a Low Buy year myself
It’s happening I swear!! More young adults are talking about corrupt corporate greed and socialism!! We even have a boycott planned 2028, Democracy for the People campaign
I used to buy the packs of flavored "tuna" for a 1$, and eat one a day. Now the price has tripled, and the pack shrunk smh. And when did potato chips become a luxury item 😮💨
@@TheSamjane4 Sameee, i have a binge eating problem when it comes to lays potato chips but here lately having $6 to spare for chips its almost impossible lol :(
Yep. Went to pick up some stuff at the convenience store because now I have to do even more shopping throughout the month to supplement my main grocery haul since all the products have shrunk (yet they cost more, just like you've pointed out) As soon as I saw that a bottle of ketchup was $7 dollars, I knew we were FUBAR.
One of germanys biggest grocery stores kicked kellogs off the shelves and put flyers up, that they tried to argue with the brand, but that kellogs wasn't willing to sell for a lesser price.
In Australia people started going off about price gouging at the two major grocery retailers Coles and Woolworths, because of all the noise there’s now a Senate Inquiry taking place and the Woolworths CEO resigned. We love! Make noise 🙌
I notice how in different recessions there’s different flexes, and now it’s food like huge amounts or just expensive food you can get anywhere else for a normal price.
And everything looks so bland nowadays everything looks the same so it is LITERALLY just about the name. It's like since I'm going to this brand i know im not around "poor people"
Not just that, but I noticed there's a trend of celeb-made skincare and haircare brands. They're trying to put us in a chokehold with our every day items 😂. No thanks. I like my Aldi and Great Value. Gives somewhat of a peace of mind in this economy.
Charlamagne from the breakfast club made the Kellogg’s CEO donkey of the day in response to his “eat cereal for dinner suggestion”. Charlamagne pointed out that poor people already eat cereal for dinner. So, it’s not an innovative suggestion. How about people have access to real food and livable wages?
They will just say how working at Taco Bell or Speedway isn’t supposed to be a career but a stepping stone. Yeah but if everyone stepped up, who would sell you the gas or make your taco? Not everyone can be a doctor, teacher, attorney, pro-athlete, etc.
Can anyone afford cereal anymore? Here in Australia frootloops were like $24 for the small box last time I checked. That’s one hour at work for most Australians to afford a jolly box of cereal
It’s cheaper to take peanuts and throw them in a food processor. That easy. It’ll change your nut butter game to make them at home. Highly recommend it, you’ll be obsessed if you’re a peanut butter person
Because sugars (high fructose corn syrup especially) and highly processed seed oils (like cottonseed) are incredibly cheap and largely subsidized by the US government. By comparison, peanuts are expensive. For every pound of peanuts in a recipe they replace with cheap oils and sugar, they can make the product cost less to produce. It's the same reason why there's so much sugar in the US food supply overall.
These CEO’s are cackling while they count all their money but then turn around and go on the news to “stress how important it is that people have kids.” With what money? Their greed is helping the birth rate go down!
Never heard them saying ppl should have kids. They’re really big on immigration though. I’m no lt stupid enough to buy expensive products like this. I have no idea where one would have to live to ONLY have orveroriced garbage like this available with NO cheap alternatives (Aldi, Walmart, target, etc). I think people need to wake up and make their own decisions vs being sheep and buying expensive stuff because an influencer told them to.
That’s why they’re paying off politicians to pass these anti-abortion bills. So people will be forced to birth more workers that will suffer and line their pockets while working for pennies.
I'll never understand how 'luxury' brands can get away with upscaling the price SO MUCH and yet small businesses trying to make a living get hounded with 'that's too expensive!'. Why don't rich influencers use their money to support small creators like buying handmade crochet items. etc. But yes, I hate corporate greed so much. I hate working in corporate America where they push profit above all else and pretty much force you to cut corners rather than actually make a good product. Even if the product isn't harmful, a lot of the time the corners you cut to make short term profit ends up in long term loss because a production had to stop because a problem arose! A problem that could've been fixed upfront if the higher ups were willing to delay product launch slightly, but nope!
So you hate it yet you dedicate your life to it ? This is why we have such a bad society, nobody wants to be a part of the solution, they want to be part of the problem. And yes,I work for a small business where we are fiercely passionate about helping our community and having high standards, and fair prices.
@lynnfromthetinYou slightly missed the point. Their point is that people criticize small businesses for the same things luxury brands do but worse since luxury brands actually have the status and privilege to do better and be better.
Luxury brands have already started backing up their huge price increases because people simply stopped buying their stuff. It turns out they DID need their middle class consumer base! Hmmm, funny how that worked!
I actually just did a project and happen to live in a farmer community. The price of eggs have gone up due to a bird flu meaning a lot of farmers had to kill a lot of chickens making the population decrease faster than going up. Also increase of materials and the season, chickens lay less eggs during the winter. But yes prices are inflated so much part of this is our government spending and wars shortages etc. and yes corporate greed. But with the wealth inequality in America our economy is unstable. You will also notice higher crime rates and more corruption in the political system.
The fact that some of these companies have outright admitted that they raise the prices and they did it knowing that there's nothing anybody can do about it and that some of them have been prosecuted for creating false scarcity is one of the reasons why there is going to be a boycott of Kellogg's for 30 days starting April 1st 👍
Tbh a 30 day protest is not gonna do anything. Just try to stop buying Kelloggs in general, it's crap and if these companies want to gouge their customers so bad they can enjoy having less of them.
Don't forget that Kellogs is a parent company, like Nestle, mondeleze, and Unilever. Look up what they own and boycott everything. Why stop there? Buy store brand products, grow and make what you can, and boycott as much as you can for the rest of the year
Yeah, I haven't been able to afford Kelloggs in forever, so not a problem 😅😢 Aldi's makes pretty good dupes tho..although I've been noticing a price increase there as well...OMAD is starting to look like a viable option.
@@ReptarKingOfMeatI don’t understand why the boycotts are being allotted 30 days only. Kellogg can take 30 days of lower profits. 6 months, a year, maybe even more and they might start to sweat. It might also be good to turn people away from Kellogg for health reasons. Sugary cereals are bad for you but make up the majority of the breakfast aisle.
Don‘t buy Kellogs at all. Let‘s be honest, it‘s all processed food that should be cut out anyway. Just checked all their subbrands and don‘t remember that last time I bought anything from them at all.
We are in a really weird time. Everything is so expensive and cheaply made that people WANT older items because they are better quality, everything from houses to food is hard to obtain, and the government who you would think would step in and do something about this (like they have in the past when inflation and greedy companies happen) just don’t say or do anything. Instead wanting to ban a app. Hard to not get depressed sometimes.
I agree generally with everything else you said, but what old items do people actually want? I don't see people clammoring for ancient cars, washing machines, fridges etc. Unless they are basically collectors with a bunch of money to drop. All of these are basically far more resource heavy and do less than modern counter parts.
@@mordecaiissad8529i absolutely want an old washing machine if i can find one. my parents' one has lasted more than 30 years! i bought an old ipod, i buy old clothes. we are out there
I got some chickens and started planting my own food, making my own dog food, butter, yogurt, bread, jams at a fraction of the price. I feed my chickens all of our food scraps I usually yield 14-20 eggs a week. I can’t justify spending over $200 a week on groceries for the basics! Making things homemade is time consuming but sacrificing my time to save money is worth it.
And it's so much better for you, you know what's in it and don't have to look up half the list of ingredients on the box, just to figure out what the heck they are. Not only are they charging outrageous prices for food, they're poisoning that same food, while they sit back getting rich as we get poorer and sickly.
great work, literally people are afterpaying groceries!! now we need a video on Rent Prices, how/why renters can up rent just because other local renters increase, with no amenities or renovations?! And the comment about them duct taping planes is absolutely true, I watched a man climb a ladder to the windshield of the cockpit of a plane that had just LANDED, ADDING mORE DUCT TAPE!! I was floored.
The kelloggs man out here saying "eat it as dinner cause its cheap" when not even two days ago I was standing inside a co-op with my friend complaining about how absurdly expensive cereal is. Most of the boxes were around £4 and I aint paying all that.
@@lizek3515 iterally. I live on a small island and we have two places to get our food from, like if you cant afford it you are just stuck. There are a lot of families with 4-6 kids (to help with crofting and animals) and it would be so expensive for even one week of shopping! Especially considering that for a lot of local families its traditional to also live and cook for the grandparents. Its absurd!
I might as well go to a diner or actual restaurant if im spending $30+ for 2 meals. Coupons will be your best friend. BOGO? Spend a $1 get something free? 20% off? Yes please.
You know another thing that pisses me off with the whole Erewhon thing is that they claim that they support local. Like, really? Tropical fruits and fruit juices? The food miles from some of the items they sale is unreal. Just a quick search of one of their coconut water shows that its from Southeast Asia. How sustainable is that? They claim to be environmentally sustainable, yet they have to fly in these products from across the planet just to sell them at absurd prices.
Also I work in the agricultural industry and we’ve been given unreachable expectations since 2020, working ourselves half to death and being payed less for our produce. Pretty soon the AG industry will fall and we won’t have much food in our stores. We saw it in 2020 and now people expect us to make more produce for plane fuel…….. PLANE FUEL
🦆 “Spa Massage Pre Blesed” had me cackling 🤣 Thank you for ending the video telling people how important their dollar is as purchasing power 👏🏼 It’s the little things we do as a collective that counts.
Ironic that Kelloggs man said that cereal for dinner is the solution-cereal happened to be the first thing I cut out from my grocery list when this crazy inflation happened. Cereal is now a luxury.
It’s not just America anymore tho. It’s seeping into other countries. I live in Australia and our government have desperately been trying to be America for years. It’s turning our country into a dumpster fire too
Depends on where you live. I've lived in Europe (lived there for 5 years) and there are benefits and downsides to both. This view you're seeing on the video is very narrow. No hate, she has every right to call out these people, but this isn't a complete view of the US.
In Germany, shrinkflation is getting ridiculous. I bought some medicin the other day with two blisters of tabletts. Every blister is supposed to contain 10 tabletts but they left 3 spaces for tabletts empty.. they even didn't bother to make a new packaging to hide it, they just didn't fill it up completely.
Wow, that is just absurd. I would not be surprised if that happens here in the US I purchased a box of pasta that was two dollars. It was halfway full. The noodles were shorter, and the packet inside was smaller. I’m making my own from now on.
It was a non prescriptive medicin not covered by universal healthcare, I have to add. The noodles were shorter? So the company had to manufacture a whole new product (I only can assume, they had to buy new machinery) disguised as the old common one? They really fool us..
Where I live, cereal isn't cheap, in fact, my parents teached me that it was "too expensive for us" nowadays, I struggle to buy a box of cereal, because I remember my mom buying only what was affordable for our small family
Sooo I wanna know where the mark up for Erewon begins? Like do the farmers get paid $40 per pound for their cauliflower or are they getting ripped off too???
I can almost guarantee you that the farmers get swindled too. Companies always want to pay less and less and on the same time put bigger expectations on the products of farmers, so that it becomes more expensive to produce the products...
No we don’t get payed more, we get payed the same and at points we actually owe money, the agriculture industry is severely struggling because of unrealistic goals the USA has put on us (from a long life rancher raised by ranchers)
@@KarmaWorlldaustralia’s agriculture industry is similarly crippled to the point where hundreds of generational farms have now disappeared, i argue even worse than the US because our grocery market is a duopoly (Coles vs Woolworths) with only 2 small outsider players being Aldi and IGA. Elite and rich profit off small farmers and us poor people it’s sickening. That’s why I only shop at my local co op. They provide information for every single item showing what farm it was from in the area. The prices have been consistent for years
this is what happens when there are no small businesses and street foods. You get corporations to sell food with Hermes prices. Wait in the next few years.
It's funny that you guys don't even realise you're pointing out a problem yet still think it's corporations fault. Ever wonder WHY there are no more small business and street foods?😂The costs are so expensive it doesn't even justify the bottom line yet you guys don't realise, these corporations are actually doing their best, what we don't understand is revenue and profit adjusted for inflation, they're not making ANYWHERE near the profits these news outlets have you believe. When adjusted for both new costs and inflation especially after supply chain issues, you can knock 20-60% off the real buying power these "high profits" have. I mean forget my opinion, you go to the stores right? You pay bills right? Forget groceries, let's talk in general, can $10 get you anything compared to 20yrs ago? This is issue isn't exclusive to one sector, this is a problem created by government.
I think the most ironic things about updating the "let them eat cake" phrase is that Marie Antoinette probably never said that or meant it that way but we wouldn't know because of how history played out. However, we actually have video evidence of a billionaire saying "eat cereal" to solve your families budgeting problems
@@Fkrksw that exactly what I'm talking about though. We don't have to put words in people's mouths because they're already saying insane things disconnected from reality
i’ve seen parents literally budget TF out of their money, and they BARELY make enough money for their kids to get enough food. they typically have to sacrifice their own meals to give to their kids.
I used to live in Los Angeles where the prices of food were very high. Regardless of which grocery store you went to, $100 was not enough to buy sufficient groceries. Moving to Fresno was a complete culture shock for me. I find LA to be expensive and I don't understand how people can afford to live there. The food prices are exorbitant, and the city is unsafe even during the day.
What’s wild is I work at Wholefoods and that $20 yogurt is $9 at my job(yes still expensive) however, they are just charging astronomical prices just to do so
I just googled what the name Erewhon stands for and: "The name "Erewhon" is derived from the 1872 satirical novel Erewhon by Samuel Butler. In the novel, Erewhon, an anagram of "nowhere", is a utopia in which individuals are responsible for their own health and prosecuted for the crime of being ill." doesn't get more ironic/dystopian than this....
Here’s a wholesome option: you’re rich? Ask your followers who’s struggling to afford basic food and give them a Walmart gift card instead of buying gourmet broccoli.✨Basic kindness✨
Great advice, nowadays when people are trying to keep up with standards, they indirectly insult other people and prove they are better when its inhumane.
FOR REAL THO rich people piss me off, they’d rather have a 30 dollar smoothie and watch someone else starve just to feel good about themselves it’s disgusting
I'm encouraged that there's a TH-cam video discussing this concern. I'm very concerned that complacency is going to sink us all into the streets if consumers don't stop this. There's just enough people who are capable of but shouldn't be paying these prices they could keep this going for a long time because they aren't holding back. This is what has happened to the car market. I know people want to enjoy their money, but I wish they could have enough patience for maybe even just a year or two to save their country from becoming a land of shanty towns. We can't seem to reach these people and that makes me very nervous. Social status and showing off wealth needs to be less important when so many of your countrymen and women are falling. Let's not be a nation like Moldova where inflation sank 70% of their population into poverty. They could have been a much stronger nation if the financially capable just had an ounce of mercy knowing their country was falling.
This same trend is happening in the Caribbean. In Trinidad, we have “gourmet” stores that charge 10x the usual cost for items. A small jar of biscoff butter is the equivalent of about $15us

I genuinely feel bad for middle class and lower class workers because we are the ones who pay each others paychecks, we’re the only ones who tip, only ones forced to donate, only ones asked to donate and deal with things we shouldn’t HAVE to deal with. Pretty soon we’ll be so poor we can’t afford to tip which most families can’t afford to do, yet we’re the bad guys for NOT TIPPING. the cereal thing is hilarious to me cuz i spent my entire life ALWAYS having a bowl of cereal for breakfast. 2-ish years ago tho i stopped because of just how expensive it is. why is a box of frosted flakes $7+??????
I come from a wealthy family. I live in LA. My mom took one step in Erewon, and went out. Even though we are wealthy, my mom drew the line there. Nobody needs to be spending that much on "fancy" groceries.
Truth. I live on disability payments. I won’t even say what I get every month because it’s truly humiliating. But what you said it 100% truth.. good food = expensive. Bad food = cheap. Low income individuals = unhealthy.
I remember when a months worth of groceries cost 100. Now it's less than a weeks worth 😭. Also what I do to combat the price gouge and still have healthy meals is meal planning.
It’s honestly so crazy how out of touch some of these influencers are. Some weeks my family and I are just scraping by, I’m sure that’s most of us, and then we have people spending 1,000 on nachos?!? It’s feeling very “hunger games-esque” these days 😢
As a small town organic farmer who just wants to grow food for the community... pls visit your local farms/ farmstands/ and farmers markets. We want people to be able to eat and have access to healthy foods, Were humans, and not big corporations so we understand that times are tough. Support your local farmers. We all need to take care of each other. Stay strong and healthy friends
I remember seeing a b movie in the 80’s about the future and it predicted that health would only be for the rich. Scary to actually see this coming true.
It sucks so bad...I'm greatful I have the privilege to buy organic/healthy foods but it's so horrible American companies are just selling us sugar and deeming it affordable or an alternative when you are struggling.
That’s seriously the whole idea, and it’s so disgusting. It’s highly palatable, addictive, and causes diseases…thus creating big pharma customers for life…the lobbyists are in each other’s pockets, treating people like lab rats and bottom lines. I make a conscious effort to eating whole, organic, and nutrient dense food that refs to be prepared, but sometimes that isn’t always an option for some. People need to be educated on cooking, and basic nutrition…because if you look into the ingredients on some of these foods…you do not want that in your body.
Here its cheap, not cheap but considering our income its cheaper then what it seems for some other parts of the world. We do experience inflation and "shrinkflation" but we have always had healthy foods to buy for cheaper than the overproduced and sugary stuff. So in Norway, its oposite. There the healthy foods, basic foods are cheap, but fast food, sugary stuff is higher priced.

Here in New Zealand the price to feed a family of 4 is over $200 that’s not including household items like laundry powder, toilet paper, dish soap etc. also not including a bunch of veggies or fruits. That fact that apples are now a luxury IS CRAZY. Our tomatoes were at one point $8 I almost had a heart attack seeing that price! And it was the “cheaper” tomatoes!!!!!! So to see in America a store is selling A SLICE OF A BLUEBERRY PIE FOR $42???!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girl. I’m gobsmakced.
And now the new gov is cutting funding for fare prices which means the cost of using transport will be highly increased as well. So it's a fortune just for people to get around when transport is supposed to be the cheaper and more sustainable option. It's absolute bullshit and blatant greed meant only to benefit the already privileged.
if i had the amount of money these influencers had, id still be shopping at places like walmart and a ton of people probably agree, the influencers are so out of touch from actual society it annoys me
I've also seen similar things, or at least, extreme price gouging for utilities and housing. Housing is being built cheaper and sold and rented for insanely high prices. Water and electric rates have gone up from what I've seen too. They're really out here asking us to pay more to have the literal base ability just to survive. I want all of the rich people who don't care to trying living for a whole year on less than 35k and try defending the price gouging afterwards.

For real. I work in an industry where I deal with upper class people, 3 of the families I’ve grown close to. They all stress living below your means at first. How these people are acting, doesn’t line up with real wealth. It lines up with trying to seem like they’re wealthy. Sounds like a poor investment. 😕 irresponsible spending.

WHY does it cost MORE for peanut butter without sugar?? Less ingredients, same factory.
It is a tax on health
It’s cheaper to take peanuts and throw them in a food processor. That easy. It’ll change your nut butter game to make them at home. Highly recommend it, you’ll be obsessed if you’re a peanut butter person
It cost more to make it without sugar. Processed foods are easier to make in general that’s why it cost less.
It wouldn't be if more people ate sugar free pb though
In the USA**
Because sugars (high fructose corn syrup especially) and highly processed seed oils (like cottonseed) are incredibly cheap and largely subsidized by the US government. By comparison, peanuts are expensive. For every pound of peanuts in a recipe they replace with cheap oils and sugar, they can make the product cost less to produce. It's the same reason why there's so much sugar in the US food supply overall.

Dont you know they need people to produce workers for their companies?
Never heard them saying ppl should have kids. They’re really big on immigration though. I’m no lt stupid enough to buy expensive products like this. I have no idea where one would have to live to ONLY have orveroriced garbage like this available with NO cheap alternatives (Aldi, Walmart, target, etc). I think people need to wake up and make their own decisions vs being sheep and buying expensive stuff because an influencer told them to.
More like totally bewildered why no one is having kids anymore
They get away with it because people buy it. Thats how consumerism and capitalism works lol.

I'm so fed up with celebrities

Don‘t buy Kellogs at all. Let‘s be honest, it‘s all processed food that should be cut out anyway. Just checked all their subbrands and don‘t remember that last time I bought anything from them at all.

@@betalhimasres4703they’re saying here we have food factories in abundance and yet even where we’re “overfed” it’s all crappy food. The world is deficient in any food in many places, yet overflowing with chemical food everywhere else

@@RicochetForce I’d say lack of proper regulation and lobbying but mostly deceptive advertising as well as promoting unhealthy behaviour is at fault rather than capitalism.
I’m used to airy bags of chips and even smaller portions of my favorite snacks but cutting corners on an AIRPLANE??? Oh wow, money is so scary
I’m genuinely disappointed in how crap our country is, I went into Walmart for a few things and left with $200 out of my paycheck. I genuinely hope boycotting the rich and big corporations pays off in the end. The Oprah and The rock video asking to donate to Hawaii still weights heavily on my mind
You opened my eyes to what is really happening out here!!!😮💨
Time for folks to WAKE UP! Companies are cashing in on the consumer need for validation😞

the cereal thing is hilarious to me cuz i spent my entire life ALWAYS having a bowl of cereal for breakfast.

And even $8 for a salad is expensive 😂
Same im mad the little $3 salads new $5
🦆 Eating cereal for every meal would be so demoralizing and dehumanizing, too
Not to mention unhealthy. Anyway…cereal is very expensive in Australia so it wouldn’t be my go to in poverty. Pop tarts here are $8.
boycott Kelloggs
It would actually kill me. I never eat cereal. I can't handle carbs, and a whole meal of carbs is a no go.
It is. Can confirm.
Im sorry but I refuse to believe potatoes are more expensive than cereal... or white flour.. or a bag of rice...
Truth. I live on disability payments. I won’t even say what I get every month because it’s truly humiliating. But what you said it 100% truth.. good food = expensive. Bad food = cheap. Low income individuals = unhealthy.
The health food store I work at carries so many of the same products that store has, almost every pictured item I’ve seen it in our store
If I was rich I would still be shopping at the Dollar tree and Walmart. The only difference is that you might catch me there more often.😂🦆
Haha facts
I remember when a months worth of groceries cost 100. Now it's less than a weeks worth 😭. Also what I do to combat the price gouge and still have healthy meals is meal planning.
It’s honestly so crazy how out of touch some of these influencers are. Some weeks my family and I are just scraping by, I’m sure that’s most of us, and then we have people spending 1,000 on nachos?!?
It’s feeling very “hunger games-esque” these days 😢
Yes. hunger games is becoming a reality.
As a small town organic farmer who just wants to grow food for the community... pls visit your local farms/ farmstands/ and farmers markets. If your able to buy directly from the farmer its cheaper and healthier because you know where your food is being sourced from. Also if you dont think you can afford to buy from them just talk to them.
Exactly! It's so much sugar which will just make you have a terrible health with cost more anyway.

Screw that! Be friends with your local farmers and get your food directly from them.🦆
It is important to recognize that while some companies do it out of greed, others are forced to because of inflation and all of the the other economic kerfuffles all over the world right now. And yes, places like Erewhon are most certainly not helping, either.
Just imagine, Erewhon coming out and saying that they get their fresh food from Wal-Mart 😭😭😭
Yeah they aren’t passing on that money no doubt their farmers and producers are not better paid or even their direct staff
People are being shamed for going to Walmart???? I go to the food equivalent of the dollar store, idc if there's a way to pay less I'll find it
One of my favourite fictional genres is dystopians and the closer they feel to reality the more unnerving and fascinating I find them. And the current trends of the rich really have me wanting to reread the Hunger Games again.
FYI the Hayley Bieber smoothie has *_EIGHTY GRAMS OF SUGAR_* though its claim to fame is being _good for your skin…_ Sugar is one of the most inflammatory things you can put in your body and it wreaks havoc on skin quality lol.
?!? thats over 2-3x the recommended amount in one drink
as someone who has worked in a grocery store for four years most you’re expensive brands are packaged in the same factory as the less expensive brand it’s all the same!!

I want all of the rich people who don't care to trying living for a whole year on less than 35k and try defending the price gouging afterwards.
this is actually insane, WHO TF PAYS 45 BUCKS FOR A SALAD?! that is like my WHOLE budget PER WEEK for food💀
🦆 love your content! I love the clarity in your statements and how cozy and soft your videos are. Feels like a friendly conversation
I live in Switzerland and due to inflation buying 4 things at the Migros cost a kidney. It was expensive before and know it's just hell. Our prices keep going up for no valid reason... Bragging about affording expensive food is dystopic asf
And the worst part about it is they are wealthy because of their viewers which they eventually lose because they can no longer relate. I’ll admit to watching food blogs because I can’t afford good food myself and sick of eating cheap boring carbs.
I have been deepdiving into the systemic issues Boeing has faced since their merger with McDonnell Douglas in 1997. It’s absolutely insane and I recommend people do some more research into the company and recent issues. Thank you for covering part of it, Salem! Love to you!!
THIS!!!!!! So my grandfather worked for McDonell Douglass for a while, until he moved to NASA. Literally, grandpa did not enjoy his time there. He just complained it was shotty work, but didn’t realize it was bad, until he got the job at NASA. Douglas was his first engineer job.
I really need people to talk about the serous issues Boeing has with their planes.. they are always in the headlines for something but people seem to ignore it😭 Boeing needs to be held accountable. Like let’s not get to a point where a commercial airlines flight literally falls out of the sky before something is done please😭😭
John Oliver did a video on Boeing recently. While not a lot of people might appreciate his humor, he was able to compile a lot of issues with Boeing there! I'm glad he covered it, because then it might reach more people.
@@perlyshell I loved his video on it! Highly recommend he breaks things down very well
If only we had some kind of law against huge businesses merging together into a giant monopoly. Maybe "antitrust laws" or something. Nah, fairytale stuff.
Just a friendly reminder that without us (the consumer) these corporations are NOTHING.
As a SAHM, my husband gives me his card to buy household goods and groceries whenever we need them, and I always set a budget for how much I plan on spending. I usually get good deals/coupons from Dollar General, Walgreens, CVS and my local Food Lion, and I take advantage of that whenever possible.
So smart ❤
This video actually made me want to cry. What a wild system we live in.
Hey y'all, very friendly remind to unionize! Unions are more than striking, they're for getting what you rightfully deserve as workers! Talk to your coworkers about wages, about what problems they're facing, because together y'all have the ability to demand better from your wage stealing employers. We got full sized Toblerones back, collective action works. So get out there and unionize, help eachother. We're not getting out of this alone!
Funny thing is cereal is now usually 6-8 dollars so I see it as a luxury now to have cereal
Haven't influencers learned anything from the "let them eat cake" event? There were so many people willing to unfollow and black all the guests at the net gala and make them lose money because of that, haven't they learned the lesson?
lol a luxury grocery store? I feel like that’s perfect for people who are materialistic or who are the %1 to settle in. Please give them a space to waste their money on so they can lose it and run back to the poor for help. Bunch of snobs
For real. I work in an industry where I deal with upper class people, 3 of the families I’ve grown close to. They all stress living below your means at first.
How these people are acting, doesn’t line up with real wealth. It lines up with trying to seem like they’re wealthy. Guaranteed most if not all of them don’t shop there consistently, but rather buying it for views. And those who do shop there consistently, will for sure lose their money eventually. It’s really just kind of dumb. They’d have more money left over just shopping at target or Walmart
