Never drove without clutch but will remember this. Had throttle cable snap and drove it back pulling on a cable sticking out the bonnet which was a dynamic experience! 😎👍❤️
I'm a bit gutted I haven't found your content sooner. I've been binge watching for the last few weeks and laughing my arse off at all the stuff you do haha. Keep up the great content!
This brings back memories I had an N reg 1242cc VW Polo with 140,000 on the clock the clutch pedal was on a bracket that was spot welded under the dash I put the clutch in one day and it just fell into the foot well, I managed to get it home 5 miles away with no clutch rev matching and crawling along in second gear up to a red light, it was a good £200 motor that no BMW, Audi or Mercedes bullied on the road, a couple of welds and the bracket was back up and working again
Nice one. I remember rebuilding a clutch pedal bracket for an old Rover that I was doing for someone in pissing down rain at about midnight so it was ready for them to go on holiday the next morning. Had to take it off and take it to my work at the time to weld it up then take it back and refit it. Was a right shit job.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos The Polo was a shitter of a job it was 10 years ago now so a distant memory but seeing your video jogged my memory, it's not fun working on your back in a foot well up the back of the dash in any weather..... Sadly the Polo didn't last much after that someone pulled across the front of me on a roundabout and I hit them square on in the side the Polo didn't bend much but was a write off as it had broken headlights, indicators and a cracked grill and the bonnet front creased apparently it was £1900 worth of damage according to the engineers report 🤔
I just did this, cos the Bearing leaver broke, cos of capillary crack. I welded it with high prudence. And its aright, but some electric problems with the immobiliser occurred.
clutch cable are actually very reliable, cheap and durable but its so long lasting people tend to forget about them until it snap in a very inconvenient time and place. In my experience, it not the cable that breaks but the lug (loop)end. I still believe that cable is better than hydraulic but it should be dual cable system. I mean, only one cable in tension but when it snap the other one would carry the load. The second one also an indication to replace the first one.
I once managed to pull the Pug out of 3rd gear without using the clutch and it did it without any trouble. However, I'm not planning to start putting it into gear without the clutch 😂
It’s easier than it sounds. You just need to have it at the point between power and engine breaking where it’s “relaxed” to pull it out of gear with no force.
In other words, neither accelerating nor decelerating, on a flat surface. just the second you let off the accelerator pedal, gearbox will be unloaded. not slowing you down or speeding you up. you can apply slight pressure on the shifter towards neutral, it'll pop out to neutral the moment you let go of the gas/throttle pedal.
I like the position of the camera angle its like driving drunk 😂 Interesting though I remember driving me dads car without a clutch 😉 I hear farts in a jar sales much better 🤓
I was a bit disappointed with how shaky it turned out, but not disappointing enough to do anything about it 🤷♀️ I’ll bare that in mind, if I can find some big enough jars…
Top tip for Tim! If you planning to sell those farts be sure to use a jar with a good seal, and use it submerged in the bath water. Then release the noble gas into the jar which will displace the water in the jar. Let the gases displace all the water and seal the jar... And success! You have a jar full of farts!
A very well thought out and descriptive video. Thank you as ever for explaining things in a clear and concise manner.....can i order the bath water for my other half for valentines? One day delivery? 👍👍👍
my citron has an issue it may be this? Basically after a lot of driving start stopping etc the peddle starts to squeak can't tell if the sound on the peddle or in the clutch as it can be heard louder outside the car. The other thing is gear 3 and 4 (mainly) have this weird low buzz sound to resolve I just put pressure on the gear stick and it stops. The car also on occasion when picking up spread jerks like power loss but my revs carry on and then it re sorts itself after 1 to 3 jerks any ideas?
Now, Steve McQueen should have watched this video before making 'Bullitt', it would have saved about a thousand double-declutches in the car chase sequence.
My ford ka drove up and down gears without clutch just fine haja only pulling away was the funny part amd trying to do same in reverse it goes quick haha
Setting off is the only real issue. I had an Astra van with a failed concentric thrust years ago and drove it like this for about a month before I fixed it 😂
This is how I drive mine constantly. I use the clutch to pull off, then proceed through the gears without it (I don't bother with 3rd, I go 2nd to 4th) my reason is to limit wear on the thrust bearing which has a reputation for breaking every 50k miles. Hopefully it'll help.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos How often do the clutch cables need adjusting in these? I adjusted mine 10k miles ago to rectify slipping, but It's ready for more adjustment.
@@onepalproductions depends on driving conditions and style mainly I’d say. It shouldn’t really need adjusting again unless the clutch is getting more worn or the cable is backing itself off or becoming “stretched”.
Hi just wondering if I can rack your brains my c1 will start but cuts out 2 seconds later, if I clean the spark plugs, I can get it to run for about 30 seconds and can rev it then it just dies, I've check fuel and it flys out, compression is good I'm not sure what else to try 👍
Sounds like it’s overfueling which could be down to lots of things. Tried cleaning the throttle body, map sensor and running it with no air box on? It could also be a blocked exhaust for example a collapsed catalyst.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideosthanks for replying I was thinking it was over fueling, when it runs for 30 secs loads of white smoke poors out. I'm going to clean the map sensors and throttle body up over the weekend. Ive had the airbox of and no change. Its weird as it runs for 30 seconds you can rev it if you keep on pulsing the accelerate but as soon as you you slow the revs it rev again it just dies like it's got no fuel. 🙄
Just found this channel today and loving the rawness and humour 👍😂

I had that on my old D-turbo. I wedged a bottle cap in the injector pump to make the engine idle shut 2000rpm and limped home haha

There are a lot of benefits to cables over hydraulic in my opinion.
Had an S60R clutch fitted in mine at the weekend, think this method would be easier tbf. Never felt a clutch so heavy
My bmw one is like that. It’s from a later 5 series and it’s a bit of a heavy shitter tbh

No, you just have to rev match and it will slot in easily.
