If you don't want to deal with aggressive drivers and tailgaters just put in a gun rack with a couple fishing poles and a couple gun orientated stickers on the back window. I recently purchased an older GMC pickup with a rack and and stickers in the back window. I've been stunned by how much more peaceful driving is now.
NEVER put a fire arm sticker on ANY vehicle. Your gun will be stolen or even worse, you just tipped him off that you are armed and he will be overly aggressive. The attacker ALWAYS has the advantage. Just FYI
Don't know why they stopped putting the removable one in the 2016-2019 trucks. You could move the cup holder to the front or the rear of the console. I miss that in my 2019. Maybe I will try this mod. Thank you for posting this Mr. Fox! You are one smart feller!

14& 15’s are movable up front you can tell by the slots on both sides of console( where cup moves too) 16-18 they got cheap and made it all one piece and not removable anymore,,,,,maybe gm shoulda worried about the messed up trans’ in these models instead of changing dumb stuff like this - anyone wonder why this body style only lasted 5 years??

I think there were too many complaints of rattleing noise coming from the center console. It was the cup holders moving, so they made it more permanent with the tabs you saw on this video.

I'm an upholster I can hide gun any were. In seat foam, passenger seat back cover, dash, headliner, under carpet with dip in metal. Inside amp, inside spare tire taped to rim inside. At border they got xray hand held for people like me.
I’m not concerned about law enforcement knowing I have a firearm. I just wanted to have quick , out of sight, access to thwart bad guys. I have seen some pretty elaborate concealment techniques on impounded vehicles. I know exactly what you’re talking about.

@@kevefox trying to figure out a stash pocket in the GMC 1500 with center console while at my local accessory shop. I suggested the area under the cup holder may work. Pull out the rubber insert and use a hole saw to open the bottom. Then drop in a ABS or PVC pipe cap. If there is enough depth, maybe a short section of 2" or 3" pipe or even a cleanout fitting (closed with a flush screw plug). The residual lip on the bottom should be enough to support the rubber cup holder bottom
Yeah, and every time my Yeti 30 ounce tumbler locks into that rubber cup insert I'll have to fight with that tray to stay put. No thanks. I might consider a really solid center console safe or one of those cable safes under a seat for the gun when I can't actually have it with me. But any gun worth having is a gun worth wearing. I don't think people realize how quickly this kind of thing happens. If you've made the decision it's time to go to guns, you've probably already lost. Besides, this way you never have to spill your 44 ounce slushy to get to a gun into action that should be on you anyhow. I did this mod, and now when I have a tighter fitting drink in there and go to take a drink, the whole cup holder comes with it... hate it. Bought a new cup holder and erased the mod.
Did you use a metric or standard step bit also what size hole did you end up having and what is the size of the magnets that you used I'm going to do this to my Chevy
I believe it was a standard bit. Not sure on the magnet size. I’ll try to remember to bring home a caliper to measure. Also it’s a good idea to get those magnets ordered before school science projects start.
I’ve done this in several of my trucks. On one of them the glue broke loose on the magnets. I recommend roughing them up slightly with sand paper before gluing.
I know pre 18 models the cup holder does come out and is movable front to back. My 18 is locked in place. Sorry gm engineer bastards. I like this idea. Might have to give it a try
Two things next time Look at the new Chevy GM Drug were underneath the infotainment center the button in the middle you push and it opened up electronically fast you don’t have to go breaking your truck second next time you go to install those magnets get the holes close are you to magna tubs lightly and then push them into where they’re melted in there permanently you can add crazy glue if you want to if you’re crazy like that it’s gonna break down and fall apart one day you go to grab that thing and it’s going to jam and not come apart especially the day you need it

The Duramax’s I own have emission issues and the Fords eat transmissions and shit fuel systems.
Yeah, not good. I had just finished the install when I shot the video. I took the foam insert from a pelican case and cut it to fill the void. Next I took an old Serpa holster and removed the trigger guard lock. Then I installed a magnet in the Serpa to hold the slide. I melted the Serpa into the foam in a ergonomic position. It works really well for temporary storage while driving.
There are jump seats that have an additional compartment below the middle seat cushion. My ‘15 3500 SLE came with a jump seat with that option. I ran a safe under there until I went with the full floor console and ditched the jump seat.

Here in America, I mean Montana, it’s normal to have a firearm or two accessible at all times. I walk the dogs with a 7.62. A pistol in the cup holder is not something I’m worried about. A grizzly bear chewing on some roadkill getting startled when I get out to take a leak or a tweaker looking for a quick wallet while I’m pumping fuel are my concerns.

Here in Montana as long as you’re not a prohibited possessor it is legal to carry concealed without a license. Gun registration is something liberal states push, not here. It’s a comforting feeling knowing that while shopping at Home Depot or the grocery store I’m surrounded by well armed citizens.

According to my LTC instructor. A pistol must be hidden. You can have a rifle in view but pistols must be on your person or out of sight.

My 2014 actually removes anyway so you can move the cupholder further up if you want to, and there is a little cubby hole there with a rubber bottom.

Even with them all cut they still lock down pretty tight. Large, tight fitting, coffee cups tend to pull the holder up.
