Well I still hope for redemption, as the general concept for the gameplay, progress in FUT-like mode and ideas are far better than EA's. Big streamers are tired of FC24 already, so some may shift and show the other game to wider public. Compare emotions of NickRTFM between when he plays FC and eFootball. I think there lays massive potential, but Konami needs to full send into market, add more modes, listen to the community more and they will get it. Also there comes new football games in UFL and Goals, so finally maybe by collective effort we make EA actually invest in the game more and it will only profit whole community, coz right now for PS5-gen we didn't really have a fun football game.
As it's gone on, the game's just gotten more annoying. I have 19 and 22 here and I got so annoyed at 22 that I just went back and started up a new career in '19 and I've been SO much happier with that.
I remember owning the FIFA 2012 and 2013 on my phone. I think it costed $4.99 to fully own at the time but we could play campaigns in all the major leagues around the world. IT WAS THE BEST.
All the people that hated on PES were just console owners. I played both growing up but PES was always the King (quite literally too). Only console players hated it due to licensing but if you had a PC, the PES community solved just about every issue with mods.
Where do you think most of the players were? Back in those days consoles were the easy, and less expensive way to get into games. So consoles had all the casuals. All the casuals cared for was that the people and teams looked like.
I still play PES 3. For me it's not even about the licensing. I just love the physics of it. Also have PES 21 with mod, but often prefer playing 3 instead without any.
And that's part of the reason that PES could never and will never be able to compete. The majority of football gamers are on console. It doesn't not matter if PC football gamers can just mod the missing teams when console gamers who make up the largest amount of buyers can't.
PES is great I used to play before FIFA. But Pes lacks skill moves and the authenticity of fifa game was amazing with career mode with managing real clubs with real stadiums and all feels so great.
3:29 The only thing EA is creative and innovative about are Store packs in UT and the most expensive ones are close to $50 per ONE pack (which is basically the price of the base game on release in september)

Asking for the partnership deal to jump from 150mil to 1 billion is beyond insane🤣🤣 Fifa banked on the world cup yet they were still greedy enough to ask for 1billion over the next four years just to use their name💀
I actually thought the lack of an official license was part of the PES charm back then. Playing the Champions Cup final between Rekordmeister and West London Blue, with player-names like Cristiano 'Ronarid, Roberto Larcos, and Ruud vom Mistelroum ... Good times indeed.
Imagine making a video about video games, and categorically refusing to use any footage from the video games in question. What the heck kind of decision is that?
In terms of Fifas own competition to EAs fifa it screams of cooperate types who have no clue how to set up a team for a game of that magnitude and thought it would be a straight forward process
I think EA outsmarted FIFA because the deals are exclusive so if any other game actually wants to make a FIFA 24 they wouldn't have actual teams or players Also Its my opinion
Not remotely knowledgeable of international image rights, but I think FIFA could do the national teams, because they run the world cup and its qualifiers.
2K sports franchises are just as bad as EA's, same causes ( ie endless greed and complete disregard for anything that isn't immediate profit ) leads to the same consequences
@@patanouketgersiflet9486true but that's mostly due to no competition.. when nba had competition from fifa there was atleast some improvement now its just more sweat. So comp from 2k would atleast cause an improvement at some front.. 2k career modes are fun too so theres that
2K getting into football can only be a good thing, Since the gap widened on PES, EA Sports have been resting on their laurels more and more, the quality control of the last few games in particular, including EAFC24 have been nothing short of abysmal, with replicable, often game-breaking bugs and broken features that any semi-competent playtesting team would have ironed out on the first run, somehow persisting across multiple releases, particularly in the game's now severely neglected career modes. I'd go as far as to describe the EA Sports development team as the ONLY team in an industry defined by poor labour conditions and crunch cycles to be practically stealing their wages, because there's no real man hours going into these games anymore. the game's still selling because there's no real alternative for that football gaming fix either 2K provide a more competent alternative, or EA are forced to actually exert some effort again to stave off the erosion of their monopoly.
Yeah they always rush out a new game year on year. If they spaced them out over 2-3 years the sales would take a hit but the experience would vastly improved. Maybe that's what the EA CEO meant by FIFA holding them back. Making them rush out titles, but then again, it's EA.
Not really, only idiots pay full price for fifa, i brought a key for £17 6 weeks after release, its the most discounted game every year, havent paid more £20 for fifa in years, you just have to wait a month or two after release
There is currently a company backed by CR7 and KDB who are making a competitor called UFL (Ultimate Football League) and have already made a deal with FIFpro for licencing player images. If the game comes out (after 2 years of delays) and is actually good, FIFA might just run over there instead of bothering with 2K.
So UFL in Asia be like: Published by Capcom and compete against eFootball Imagine in North American release be like: UFL name changed into ULS which developee by Strikerz Inc. published by Square Enix
FIFA didn't understand that the name FIFA isn't what was bringing people to the game. The game modes of Ultimate Team and Pro Clubs were always way bigger than the name on the cover
Remember Infantino saying there will be a new FIFA game, becoming the best football simulation, far better than EA FC? Yeah..still waiting. Or don't. I call BS.
2K taking over FIFA and launching alongside the 2026 world cup in the US would be prefect. They know how to make sports games and the only company that could compete with EA
One thing that I don't understand is how can EA make a game without Fifa licensing? If they could have always done it, why didn't they do so before instead of paying fifa?
1. EA hasn't put out an NBA game since Live 19. 2K are the ones putting out NBA games now. 2. Madden is a similar situation to FIFA in that the name isn't the main selling point; it's the license with the NFL. If the Madden estate asks for too much, I can easily see EA changing their name to NFL Ultimate Team 25 or whatever.
2K won't be able to compete with EA. Unless they make Fifa focused on gameplay and features, but not monitisation. 2K is just as bad if not worse than EA when it comes to this stuff, not to mention their NBA games are absolutely panned for being cash cows
PES used to have better gameplay and physics than the old FIFAs did, but they still could never compete with EA's FIFA games because they couldn’t get the rights to players and clubs. It won't matter if 2K makes a superior game when EA holds the exclusive rights to many of the Top 5 football leagues.
It’s unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, two of the greediest companies you can ask for trying to strike a deal with each other is always going to go wrong
Nor for free, they are using FIFA rights for a mediocre game like EA ones. Imagine FIFA gave the license to someone competent, a win for gamer and fans
Yes for free. They literally do nothing on the game development side😂. EA does all the heavy lifting FIFA just has to look pretty basically and they get free money. EA even had individual contracts with players and teams which goes to show that FIFA didn't even supply them with that.@@DiegoChaparro-lp1tj
Well, it really didn't matter. The franchises best days were behind them long before this ever happened, especially in terms of the actual quality of the games. The best FIFA games were FIFA 13 and 14, in fact in the last 10 years since FIFA 14, only one other FIFA game cracks the top 10 and thats FIFA 17 in 8th place on the list. So in the last 10 years, only 1 FIFA game has actually managed to break the FIFA top 10 games list. Fairly certain that eventually, the relationship would have ended one way or another.
this is so wrong to say EA Fifa won against PES because of realism lmao, that was not the reason, Konami just had inside issues and they didn't focus on PES, they even had that huge scandal with Kojima and even he left Konami, sad, PES was better and EA is evil.
Imagine if the World Series were an independent tournament and tried to strongarm Sony about having the World Series in their game, and Sony instead just got the MLB and MLBPA licenses, as well as Japan League, KBO, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc licenses, and called the championship, well, the MLB Championship. What is FIFA going to do without premiere club licenses?
Imagine 2K sign deal with FIFA be like: 2K have many franchises *MotoGP 2K (If Milestone acquired by Take Two from Embracer) *FIFA 2K *NBA 2K *Top Spin 2K *WWE 2K *PGA Tour 2K *Hot Wheels Unleashed (published by 2K and developed by Milestone) *Monster Jam (published by 2K developed by Milestone) Imagine MotoGP vs F1 games which between Milestone vs Codemasters and 2K vs EA and also Take Two acquire Milestone will be the best acquisition ever made.
I can Imagine 2K vs EA be like FIFA 2K vs EA FC MotoGP 2K vs EA F1 Even makes Milestone acquired by Take Two Interactive is absolute crazy after acquiring Gearbox Software which another company which become Embracer hit list from Take Two
Pro evolution was at one point the superior game in terms of gameplay despite not having the licences but then they seemed to release a new game every year where the only adjustments made seemed to make it slightly less fun to play with removal of features , attempting to imitate fifa gameplay for some bizarre reason and also they didn’t even bother to update transfers at all. They basically just made it totally unnecessary to buy a new version of the game every year and they honestly seemed incomplete and lazily assembled.
Konami and FIFA would need a revenue or profit split deal, I imagine. Even them FIFA will still want too much money and control. FIFA's demands were greater than the value they brought to EA's series, I can't imagine they will lower them too much for the next developer. Either way the biggest problem will be the licensing of players, clubs and leagues. EA FC sales show people don't care about the FIFA name.
Konami is making some good money recently but it's not enough to buy a 150 million a year license 🤣. They not even makes more money than pubg and pubg died 3 years ago 😂.
PES used to have better gameplay and physics than the old FIFAs did, but they could never compete because they couldn’t get the rights to players and clubs. Now that EA has the exclusive rights to the Prem, LaLiga, Bundesliga, PSG, Juve and other smaller leagues. How are FIFA and Konami going to compete if they can't even get 3 of the top 5 leagues and many others in their game when the game console crowd isn't able to just mod them in and are the biggest buyers of football games?
Winning Eleven was developed by Konami Tokyo in 94-95, whilst International Superstar Soccer had been developed years earlier by Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka. Every time WE is mentioned, there's a persistent myth that ISS somehow preceeded WE, when in fact they existed concurrently during the mid-90's.
The whole Championship Manager/ Football Manager episode showed that it's vital to know where the value is. In that case it was the scouting network and the database, EA are hoping the FIFA name and licences aren't as vital as the game engine and fanbase. I suspect they're right.
When the greediest. most corrupt games company gets into an argument with the greediest, most corrupt licensing body gets into an argument and the players lose.
The UEFA in particular seems to be occupying an interesting spot in this dispute - for many years, PES was a commercial partner for them, countering the FIFA-EA-Dominance, but as soon as FIFA and EA broke up the UFEA was willing to license everything to EA to stick it to FIFA
About PES vs FIFA, the reason FIFA won was that Konami refused to build a new game engine for the new console generation, so newer PES were scaled up older-gen games, while FIFA used the latest game engine, making a huge leap
It's hard to argue with Wilson, I didn't buy EAFC 24 straight away as I figured it wouldn't have the licensed teams anymore.....but inactuallity its the same as any other fifa title that came before.......just 4 letters on the box !!! Clearly Fifa dnt bring anything to the game....

Would rather play FIFA 06 than any FIFA of the past 10 or so years....
As it's gone on, the game's just gotten more annoying. I have 19 and 22 here and I got so annoyed at 22 that I just went back and started up a new career in '19 and I've been SO much happier with that.
Fact. Fifa 08 my fav.
Fifa 14 and 17 are hall of fame candidates too
Personally, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 is my go to football game.
I still play 7, 16 and 99. Most fun.
Can't say i fully agree, but yeah, mainly stick with 21's mods these days
And that's part of the reason that PES could never and will never be able to compete. The majority of football gamers are on console. It doesn't not matter if PC football gamers can just mod the missing teams when console gamers who make up the largest amount of buyers can't.
PES is great I used to play before FIFA. But Pes lacks skill moves and the authenticity of fifa game was amazing with career mode with managing real clubs with real stadiums and all feels so great.
Pro Evo / winning eleven was the better game hands down. So good in the early days.
Yea def a much better game. The fact that fifa was so much more popular than pro evo shows most people prefer style over substance.
3:29 The only thing EA is creative and innovative about are Store packs in UT and the most expensive ones are close to $50 per ONE pack (which is basically the price of the base game on release in september)
I know dumb gamer takes are vibrant cottage industry, but surely you're only pretending that you missed that it was the prolonged approval process with the rights holder that was the problem, right?
@@HerrCron Nah I'm just talking about how EA is a dogshit company who treats their biggest and most loyal playerbase as an ATM machines
Asking for the partnership deal to jump from 150mil to 1 billion is beyond insane🤣🤣
Fifa banked on the world cup yet they were still greedy enough to ask for 1billion over the next four years just to use their name💀
1 billion over 4 years is 250mil per year, 100mil increase. But still a huge increase with no benefit to EA.
@@llane122 he literally wrote "... over 4 years" 🤷
That first FIFA on the Mega Drive was immense. Stone cold classic.
i miss old pro evo...it was such a good game...cracked versions on a PS2 with modded team and playernames on a memory card...good times
I actually thought the lack of an official license was part of the PES charm back then. Playing the Champions Cup final between Rekordmeister and West London Blue, with player-names like Cristiano 'Ronarid, Roberto Larcos, and Ruud vom Mistelroum ... Good times indeed.
The fact that fifa managed to let arguably their biggest cash cow go because theywhere unable to match EA's demands is almost humourus
Any story that ends with "and Fifa lost a big chunk of money" is a good story.
Tldr;
Money.
Yeah but that's the answer to anything in football, sometimes adding a little more feels better
Imagine making a video about video games, and categorically refusing to use any footage from the video games in question. What the heck kind of decision is that?
FIFA Vs. EA. Whoever wins, we lose.
Infantino: We'll make a FIFA game in less than 2 years!
Developers: Sure, buddy.
In terms of Fifas own competition to EAs fifa it screams of cooperate types who have no clue how to set up a team for a game of that magnitude and thought it would be a straight forward process
I can picture some poor person at FIFA having to slowly walk Gianni Infantino and the others through the process of game development.
I think EA outsmarted FIFA because the deals are exclusive so if any other game actually wants to make a FIFA 24 they wouldn't have actual teams or players
Also Its my opinion
Not remotely knowledgeable of international image rights, but I think FIFA could do the national teams, because they run the world cup and its qualifiers.
@@rafael_lana makes sense
Thanks for highlighting the point that PES forced FIFA to step its gameplay up to what we know now. Early FIFA’s gameplay was… 😅
The real life incarnation of a self serving narcissist couple splitting.
TLDR, EA was swimming in FIFA money and FIFA said gimme more.
Would love to play a 2K football game, EA needs some competition to keep it honest, they are the winners of a 1 horse race each year.

2K getting into football can only be a good thing,
Since the gap widened on PES, EA Sports have been resting on their laurels more and more, the quality control of the last few games in particular, including EAFC24 have been nothing short of abysmal, with replicable, often game-breaking bugs and broken features that any semi-competent playtesting team would have ironed out on the first run, somehow persisting across multiple releases, particularly in the game's now severely neglected career modes.
I'd go as far as to describe the EA Sports development team as the ONLY team in an industry defined by poor labour conditions and crunch cycles to be practically stealing their wages, because there's no real man hours going into these games anymore.
the game's still selling because there's no real alternative for that football gaming fix
either 2K provide a more competent alternative, or EA are forced to actually exert some effort again to stave off the erosion of their monopoly.
All this money yet they can't afford a better server better stable gameplay smh
FIFA game sucks, charging huge sums of money for same game every year
Yeah they always rush out a new game year on year. If they spaced them out over 2-3 years the sales would take a hit but the experience would vastly improved. Maybe that's what the EA CEO meant by FIFA holding them back. Making them rush out titles, but then again, it's EA.
That's EAs doing.
But they have to give licensing money every year to clubs, so everyone is greedy..
@@doctortech001 and the clubs give that money to the players. The licensing fee from FIFA is separate from the money given to clubs and players.
Not really, only idiots pay full price for fifa, i brought a key for £17 6 weeks after release, its the most discounted game every year, havent paid more £20 for fifa in years, you just have to wait a month or two after release
How rare EA are actually the good guys for a change
There are no good guys
Compared to Fifa yea
@@bnosagazConpaed to Fifa yea
It's possible to not like either side you know.
EA having competition might make them refocus on gamplay
Pro Evo 3 was an absolute revelation when i picked it up as a child for the first time after years of playing fifa.
So UFL in Asia be like:
Published by Capcom and compete against eFootball
Imagine in North American release be like:
UFL name changed into ULS which developee by Strikerz Inc. published by Square Enix
UFL don’t actually have many or any licenses though. It’s just a FUT clone.
Or don't. I call BS.
😂 Fifa making me vouch for EA wasnt in my Bingo card
FIFA willing to walk away from the game without a back up plan in place is absolutely moronic
2K taking over FIFA and launching alongside the 2026 world cup in the US would be prefect. They know how to make sports games and the only company that could compete with EA
Agree that '26 would be an opportunity but after their last few releases they would have to come out the gates very strong
One thing that I don't understand is how can EA make a game without Fifa licensing? If they could have always done it, why didn't they do so before instead of paying fifa?
Now I am waiting for Madden and NBA to get pissy at EA. What do you think those games will be renamed as when it happens?
@@aceking_offsuit I'm pretty sure EA bought the rights to use his name and likeness in perpetuity for a lump sum about a decade ago.
2K won't be able to compete with EA. Unless they make Fifa focused on gameplay and features, but not monitisation. 2K is just as bad if not worse than EA when it comes to this stuff, not to mention their NBA games are absolutely panned for being cash cows
It ruined wrestling games for me.
PES used to have better gameplay and physics than the old FIFAs did, but they still could never compete with EA's FIFA games because they couldn’t get the rights to players and clubs. It won't matter if 2K makes a superior game when EA holds the exclusive rights to many of the Top 5 football leagues.
It sounds like it was EA’s decision more than FIFA’s.
It’s unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, two of the greediest companies you can ask for trying to strike a deal with each other is always going to go wrong
Wait, are EA Sports the good guys? I don't want to live in this world anymore
1:31 Not sure why your showing a SNES controller for a game that started out on the Mega Drive.
In all honesty, many of the things that FIFA does is to get financial gain. That should stop. Otherwise, people will watch other sports.
Could probably also mean the end of the FIFA world cup game serie. From 1998 fifa world cup video game to 2022 fifa world cup video game
I still mostly play PES 3.
Imagine having zero leverage, getting hundreds of millions essentially for free and ruining the deal because you want more free money.
You left out the fact the gameplay is utterly unplayable unless you’re a football fan
Interesting analysis
Fifa scored an own goal. The console game helped growth of Football and Fifa brand in the US and far East
Hope FIFA comes back
surprised pro evo hasn't jumped in but 2k with FIFA could be interesting
Isn't this the 2nd vid on the topic?
Imagine 2K sign deal with FIFA be like:
2K have many franchises
*MotoGP 2K (If Milestone acquired by Take Two from Embracer)
*FIFA 2K
*NBA 2K
*Top Spin 2K
*WWE 2K
*PGA Tour 2K
*Hot Wheels Unleashed (published by 2K and developed by Milestone)
*Monster Jam (published by 2K developed by Milestone)
Imagine MotoGP vs F1 games which between Milestone vs Codemasters and 2K vs EA and also Take Two acquire Milestone will be the best acquisition ever made.
I can Imagine 2K vs EA be like
FIFA 2K vs EA FC
MotoGP 2K vs EA F1
Even makes Milestone acquired by Take Two Interactive is absolute crazy after acquiring Gearbox Software which another company which become Embracer hit list from Take Two
Pro evolution was at one point the superior game in terms of gameplay despite not having the licences but then they seemed to release a new game every year where the only adjustments made seemed to make it slightly less fun to play with removal of features , attempting to imitate fifa gameplay for some bizarre reason and also they didn’t even bother to update transfers at all.
They basically just made it totally unnecessary to buy a new version of the game every year and they honestly seemed incomplete and lazily assembled.
The fact they can make even EA look good says a lot about FIFA...
Why was this thumbnail so satisfying😂😂
Rare EA W
When anyone associated with EA tell you they are trying to be "creative, innovative, experimental" - they are lying to your face on all counts.
Hope FIFA joins forces with Konami.
How will Konami manage to pay what FIFA was asking?
Nah, Konami better off not dealing with the grubs at fifa
How can ea still have the licenses for names, clubs, etc?
PES was definitely better until 2020. A realistic nuanced gameplay is always better than an arcade game with all the licenses.
I agree with you, but the majority don't unfortunately.
The hubris of FIFA to think that they can create a game from nothing in a year is astonishing.
FC24 Wasn’t good imo, I’ll probably be playing FIFA 2K next year
Love the animation in this video - keep up the good work
Winning Eleven was developed by Konami Tokyo in 94-95, whilst International Superstar Soccer had been developed years earlier by Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka. Every time WE is mentioned, there's a persistent myth that ISS somehow preceeded WE, when in fact they existed concurrently during the mid-90's.
Efootball should definitely take advantage of this and join forces with FIFA
FIFA license is worthless really.
The whole Championship Manager/ Football Manager episode showed that it's vital to know where the value is. In that case it was the scouting network and the database, EA are hoping the FIFA name and licences aren't as vital as the game engine and fanbase. I suspect they're right.
EA retained all the licenses though besides the World Cup.
Today, I feel like a Video Game Developer
It's hard to argue with Wilson, I didn't buy EAFC 24 straight away as I figured it wouldn't have the licensed teams anymore.....but inactuallity its the same as any other fifa title that came before.......just 4 letters on the box !!! Clearly Fifa dnt bring anything to the game....
