Match fixing has been a controversial topic for years, and it’s no secret that it still happens in sports around the world. It involves manipulating the outcome of games for financial gain, often tied to betting syndicates. Even Kevin Lorsen, a well-known streamer, recently talked about it in one of his videos. He shared where he found real fixed matches online, shedding light on how widespread and accessible this issue has become. It’s fascinating, but also a little unsettling, to see how these schemes operate in plain sight.
A top former English referee was doing talks in my country to our local referee groups, and he told me about a match-fixing referee who he was assigned to assess. It was an Eastern European referee on some Europa Cup early qualifying round, and this assessor was called by UEFA beforehand, and told that the referee was suspected of being involved in fixing, and there were anomalous betting patterns, I think on one of the teams scoring 1 goal during the game. They wanted to catch him in the act, so they didn't pull him off the game, and this assessor had to act normal. The game was all going pretty simple, no weird decisions or anything, until the middle of the second half when he gave a penalty off a corner, gesturing there had been pushing in the box. Replays showed that there was absolutely nothing. So a penalty was given, but then it was missed, and for the rest of the game the assessor was expecting another weird call. But full time arrived, and nothing more out of the ordinary happened. The anomalous betting pattern wasn't fulfilled -- the fixers didn't win their bets. After the game the assessor had to carry on as normal and do the normal post-match assessor thing of talking to the referee, talking through various decisisons with him, giving feedback. Apparently the referee gave the weakest of "I saw a push" explanations for the penalty, and looked very uncomfortable, while being told by the assessor that it was a clear mistake based on video replays. Eventually the assessor had to ride with the referee to the airport, trying to act normal, and after they parted, the referee was arrested at the airport. It was interesting noting how the referee wasn't being asked to ensure the bet was fulfilled, just to swing the odds. I think the deal was, if the team hadn't scored a goal by a certain minute, the referee had to give them a penalty. He would have clearly waited around to try and hope it occurred naturally, but eventually he had to make one up. But after that, his job was done. It didn't matter what the outcome of the penalty was, they/he didn't want to draw attention to the fix by making multiple weird decisions

He had no clue and didn't speak Polish either. The whole game fans could hear his teammates shouting at each other "nie podawaj do czarnucha (don't pass to the negro)". They were afraid he will score, and they won't get their bonus.

I used to be a referee in Slovakian non-league and only once I was offered a 'bonus' for a win for the away team that was in a relegation battle. One of the main reasons of illegal betting is about how a lot of countries approach to betting markets. I'm from Turkey, not betting for about 3 years now but when I got used to betting few years back, I never felt the need of betting illegally in Ukraine where I was residing back then. Because there are multiple betting firms that operate freely and globally. Bookmaker offices are even comfy and they give you checks and cold cash at the spot. In Turkey however, the government gives the market to one firm, who then tries to exploit people with pathetic level of coefficients, narrow range of betting options, forcing people to pick at least three matches in one bet. All this forces people out of legal markets and everybody are using illegal ones.

It can be so easy. I love in-play, e.g. watching a game and knowing a player is a certainty to get booked. When it gets to 80mins plus the odds start to jump to anything between 12/1 and 50/1. These videos have definitely catches my eye more as of late, keep it up whatever you guys are doing over there.
Lyon 7-1 Dinamo Zagreb 2011 is one of the most obvious matches that comes to my mind. Just observe how the goals happen and consider the implications of the score line for both Ajax and Lyon. Also, another Champions League match between Liverpool and Debrecen 2009. The goalkeeper of Debrecen was supposed to let in at least 3 goals. Sadly for him, Liverpool only managed to score 1 goal.
Thanks for helping expose these criminals. In some matches it appears obvious something is going on.
Now I have a doubt on the Ref from last night United's game. He was horrible
Wanted to say the same...
I remember a case a year or so back with a player whose name rhymed with Maheem Sterling. He skied a shot right in front of goal and no one even questioned it.

Barcelona. Tom Henning Ovrebo. 2009.
That ref in the Dortmund Man City game should be investigated
Yes
Why, because he was Romanian?
Absolutely! He was horrible and should never have blown the whistle before Bellingham had scored.
Guinness no dude
@@StoutProper Got to do with his decisions on the day.
This was such a great and informative watch. Quality content!
When my dad played for Korea and played against Thailand pre much the whole Thai team got arrested for money betting

The music is so good on these i zone out and miss what's being said lmao
Hey man! Corrupt FC are my team and we won that game fair and square! It's not our fault Athletico Nefarious only fielded two players and Referee McBribe called time 85 minutes early!
"Sus-ometer"
HOLY SHIT IS THAT AN AMOGUS REFERENCE 😱😱😱
What's crazy is that with Covid right even some big teams are struggling financially and I as a Sports Better have noticed that some of this big teams are taking bribes too but I have noticed that the weekend games have the most volatility. If you bet during the week you're fine
I'm relatively certain that the Chinese and Russian OCGs have compromised my kids' U13 and U8 Soccer (football) leagues.
I mean, last game that was so clearly a red card offense, in the box, but no penalty was awarded. It's just so shocking that the Russians would get to a 14 year-old ref, but it's also the only explanation.
fells like a proper lecture. Great stuff, tifo!
In the mexican women's league its believed that the games are fixed among the players because of the poor payment they recieve. First halfs of games end 0-0 and then there's a flurry of goals in the second half.
If first half ends 0 0 isn't this an opportunity?
Referee got 67k pounds and a flat screen TV. Let that sing in.
Yeah, during that time the referee was a university student and mostly was the official for lower league matches, meaning he didn't actually earn much from it. That's how they managed to rope him into it in the first place. Oh, and Euros btw, not pounds, given that this happened in Germany.
First example of spot fixing that comes to mind is Lorus Carrius. Man must've been on the take.
I hope he was payed well because that performance basically ruined his life
That one was probably an actual mistake. Because even match fixers dun do it so obviously
Ronald koeman crazy tactics please

In next video, can you please show us how to do the match fixing?
Is it confirmed that the 2002 WC was fixed? Especially those games involving South Korea and within those, especially the ones against Spain and Italy. I have no idea if anyone has ever been banned or not, but the decisions were so unbelievably in favour of Korea, it was unreal.
Shoutout to The Usual Suspects lineup 😍
It drives me nuts that some people are able to get recognition and monetize their life of crime with consultation or counseling jobs while so many other people that remain honest has to struggle to survive with no help.
City vs Dortmund was a great example of march fixing
Don't confuse bad referring with match fixing
@@bluemartini7768 at Bellingham goal he could have let the goal stand and check VAR but he just didn't want to do it. If that's not match fixing I don't know what it is.
@@bluemartini7768 My instincts tell me it was fixed, consciously I've got to remind myself he might just have had a really bad day but watching it, it felt off. Not just the Bellingham goal but also the penalty that wasn't and his manner towards it. He seemed more apologetic to the City players for not giving them a penalty they dived for than to the Dortmund players he was about to wrongly give a penalty against. And no yellow for simulation, there's contact with his knee and he act's like it's his head. Might just have been in way over his head or had a really bad day but I'm not there yet.
@@bluemartini7768 reffed one sided. Tried to give them a pen when clearly can didn’t do anything. Had be shown under a 200x zoom to change it looking for any detail to give it. Kept the yellow for can. Then with Jude the ref blew the whistle so VAR couldn’t give the goal it clearly was. And then also gave Jude a yellow. That’s not bad reffing from a very experienced consistent ref.
@@bluemartini7768 also go look at the odds for the game and then look at the lines and where the money was on.
As Educational as usual. You are the best. Thank you.
Tennis is the most fixed sport.
In Football, its Player To Be Carded market which is the most fixed market.
How you came to this conclusion?
@@duartedsmoreira its quite common knowledge tbh.
Tennis only requires 1 person to be in on it / be bribed. It also offers lots of in-play markets with high odds.
Cards in football is basically the same as above. Only requires one person and cards have high odds.
Why would you try and bribe 2 whole football teams and management when you can just bribe 1 person?
Ots easier, cheaper and harder to be found out.

You guys should talk about how Moggi and Juve were controlling the Italian referees through Pairetto and Bergamo from the nineties up to ‘06. And don’t forget how Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina were also buying this privileges from Juve. You really should talk about it, from what I see no one outside of Italy knows how dirty Juve is when he comes to “winning is all it matters”...
VAR is modern day match fixing, do a video on that!
1:44 can't help but feel the 2022 wc was a victim of these...
The way France was playing
I'd really appreciate a specific video on the German match fixing scandal!
2:30 that Usual Suspects reference though
Tifo done again with a great video
You said "no-bowls" in relation to cricket.
Turn in your English card.
It can be so easy. I love in-play, e.g. watching a game and knowing a player is a certainty to get booked. When it gets to 80mins plus the odds start to jump to anything between 12/1 and 50/1. A player could easily say to his mates “stick £100 on me getting booked after 83 mins” and all he has to do is pull someone back and they all cash-in
Fixed matches are real, I paid for a match and I got what I paid for, it came out positive

Gambling is officially illegal in my country (Indonesia) , but football corruption and match-fixing is still the norm. So normal that my national team keep losing in the SEA final game albeit being the "team of the tournament".

Oh God, so many of the seemingly random and dubious deals that Bartomeu made during his Barça presidency all seem a lot more cynical now...
I wouldn't be so confident about less match fixing in the premier league. Any large sums placed in lower league football will raise red flags.
The seemingly random VAR and offside decisions are certainly a suspect part of the game.
That Palace v Man United FA Cup Final is without doubt the most fixed game I’ve seen live. How Clattenburg didn’t play an advantage to allow Wickham to score is crazy
Clattenburg admitted that he and the other referees were giving decisions going Man United's way
@@wonderfulhumanbeingwithagr6381 bullshit he never said that
i must have watched 3 or 4,000 matches, one of the obvious tells for a match fix is the '' silly backpass that ends in a goal'' in a big game. a goal is ruled out for no reason, and a penalty is given for something when a player isnt touched.
i knew the referees in my fifa games were up to something
Very interesting. Really liked how the topic was explained.
