One of my fave bands from late70s...remember buying scared to dance and hammering jukebox for Into the valley and tv stars....still play them regularly...rip stuart....and thank you all❤
@@apemoon1731 poor Richard even after all this time he still has the clumsy dance moves, as can be seen in footage of the Skids recent gigs. Theres a gig at the Albert Hall where Richard tells the audience about a fan he met outside the gig and the fan said, I hope you wont be doing any of your silly dancing at tonights gig, ha ha. ....
Graham Goodall it's a disgrace how he is not given the credit he deserves, he was indeed a genius, his guitar work in the Skids was extrordinary. There should be a documentary on Stuart , I thought BBC Scotland might do something on his tenth anniversary of his passing, no such luck.
I worked on a Simple Minds tour over here in the US several years ago and had more than one long conversation with Jim Kerr. Football and music mostly. One chat always sticks in my mind. He told me all about the first time he ever saw Skids and how blown away he was at how good they were.
Stuart Adamson (who I think is only about 19 yr old here), was an exceptionally talented musician with a sound all his own, U2s Edge learned a lot from early support slots with The Skids. Pity Stuart didn't make it to a Skids reunion that would've been something very special indeed.
The Skids reform sounds fantastic, so sad that Stuart didn’t get to be part of it. Jobson looks more like a street fighter these days! And still can’t dance! Ha ha. This is such an earworm, hell 1979 was the best!
It owes a bit to Scottish traditional music. Hard to explain, it's all to do with grace notes etc. I took lessons on the pipes as a child, and recognise a lot of the rhythms.
Yes, they were already moving into post-punk / elecronic by then, check out Charade and Working for the Yankee Dollar from the Days in Europa album just after this.
Stuart’s ‘guitar hero’ produced the second album and some of the associated singles, he also performed, “For Stuart” at Adamson’s memorial concert, he played keyboards on this and other tracks. He, being Bill Nelson. Later live performances included new drummer Rusty Egan and Alasdair Snow on various keyboards.
Great song and energy. I thought the Jobster's outfit was awful, but then I watched the "Circus Games" TOTP performance, and his blazer, tie, and Jacob Rees Mogg hairstyle are even worse....

Love that
the melody is rocking 😎
R.I.P Stuart Adamson. Can hear his unique sound ,before his Big Country days. Great music
Richard Jobson. ..the master of out of time dancing .
It's harder than you think
Still doing that dance 40 years later. I just seen them in Blackpool at the Rebellion Punk festival... brilliant
@ShadeyBladey that was his gimmick, as well as the indecipherable lyrics.
"Scared to Dance" methinks......
@@robertcaffrey6097 Good one 😀👍

Timeless music. As good now as when I first heard it in 79. RIP Stuart Adamson.
Stuart Adamson - genius.

Jobson. =. Knob
My favourite of theirs. Great track. The b-side "out of town" was also a great track.
As good as the A side

I'm pretty sure U2 never played any shows with The Skids.
@@blerkh Im certain they definatley did...
@@robertcaffrey6097 If you find evidence indicating so, please let me know.
Learned more like stole
The Skids never played with U2. He was cited as an influence in the early days butThe Edge didn't even meet Stuart until he was in Big Country.
Watching Stuart A plays guitar is a real treat. 😍
as a young ladof 19. n 1979. thought ths track was brllant, now at 59 m stll tappng my feet to t
Stuart's like, yeah I'm ready for Big Country.
Love this. I miss guitar music with energy.
How good were the Skids!
The king of ‘dad dancing’
In the U.S. we say guys like Jobson look like undercover cops dancing in a gay bar.
Putting on my oversized denim jeans, my big white trainers and I’m ready for my first lesson.
Can't take my eyes off Stuart. What a legend. :o)
Rip Stuart adamson , one of the greatest , went too soon. 😢
When music was worth listening to and UK Gold was worth watching.
Love how Stuart is messing with the volume controls on his unplugged yamaha..!
Memories of this times still with me
The Skids reform sounds fantastic, so sad that Stuart didn’t get to be part of it.
Jobson looks more like a street fighter these days!
And still can’t dance! Ha ha.
This is such an earworm, hell 1979 was the best!
Seen The Skids 3 times in Dublin since they have reformed. Watson clan doing Stuart proud
🤣🤣🤣…he invented the high leg kick though. Hurts my hamstrings thinking about it now.
I'd forgotten how much I liked the Skids.
I love the way RJ dances; it is just too original! Have you seen anyone do such moves. Northern Soul v 70s punk style!
Deeder, meet Ian Curtis… 😁
Rest in peace Stuart.
Stuart Adamson a massive musical hero of mine. RIP.
I love Richards dancing..
great keyboards & production by Bill Nelson too
Seen them today . Richard dances the same you will be glad to know
Very first line of Lego clothing for adults on display here. It's the future.
oh Lord ,
where did those years all go ?
oh Lord ,
I'd really like to know ...... ( variations on a theme / if you know, you know ;-) )
Absolutely brilliant!
Two lead singers here 👊 ,one of there best .
Adamson🏴💙
It’s a strange song. Slightly menacing. And I love it.
It owes a bit to Scottish traditional music. Hard to explain, it's all to do with grace notes etc. I took lessons on the pipes as a child, and recognise a lot of the rhythms.
Great scottish band
Superb
❤❤❤❤
When I saw them live last year, R.J. said that this was his favourite song they did.
Probably my favourite Skids song, some brilliant lines in it - very quotable!
Mine too.. Blaring it out of my car
I was 9 years old in May 1979, in Junior 2 school.
Seen these at Eric's they did a matinee so all us kids got to see them.
Brilliant
Love Stuart!!
Catchiest track
Just cool
Bring back top of the pops!
Stuart also was a big influence on the great Keith Levene of PiL.
Never Forgotten Stuart x
Some of Stuarts early bag-pipe guitar sound
How i love these days 2020/2021 SUCKS .
Richard Jobson's haircut wouldn't look out of place in The Brotherhood of Man
Everybody sing 'It was acceptable in the seventies/it was acceptable at the time'
Rip stuart
Stirring stuff
Richard jobson channel his inner Simon le bin before Simon le bon was on the scene
Jobson looks like Steve Jones from the Pistols,he had the same problematic "hairdresser hair" as Steve calls it in his autobiography lolol
Jobson was a complete knob back then.
rip stuart
Jobson dressed up like an extra from Dr Who.
Richard Jobson - wouldnt want to mess with him!
I'm sure Richard Jobson was the inspiration for Russ Abbots Scotsman.
Tune
Stuart Adamson was destined to be a front man
did this track have a keyboard playing ?

Richard Jobson is bonkers!
This sounds like a Sir Jimmy intro... 'owzabout that then...?
Jobsons hair
He had a Demi - wave at a local Dunfermline hairdressers by the look of things
The bass player doesn't look very happy to be there. Perhaps a bit jealous of the other two stealing all the attention :)
That base player still there
Bass players always have that look.
Love this band but Richard dude what are you hearing? Your body is so out of sync it's like um what? 😆
Barnets bit dodgy. Great song though.
Jobson's dancing is awful, and he looks like he's wearing a boiler suit handed down by Devo or Gary Numan😂😂
Get rid of the guy in red.
You're an idiot
Jobson was a fucking genius
No guy in red, no skids
My faves
And this is the point Richard Jobson became a massive poseur and first rang the death knell for the band.
Jobson.making his last few quid on tour as a 'punk'...on display here in his new romantic clothes
Great song and energy.
I thought the Jobster's outfit was awful, but then I watched the "Circus Games" TOTP performance, and his blazer, tie, and Jacob Rees Mogg hairstyle are even worse....
He looks like an extra from Blake’s 7
