That’s awesome that your friend is giving you an iPod! Hopefully it is the coveted 7th generation. If it truly is the 5.5 generation iPod 80GB and the condition is good, then $80 is a good price. But also remember that because the 5.5 generation is plastic it is easily modified. You can add a battery, new bezel, click wheel, etc. The Wolfson DAC makes the 5.5 generation highly collectible. Sounds like you got some great iPods coming, enjoy them!
I don’t like the 6th generation compared to the 7th or even 5.5 generation. Especially after making this video and knowing now that the 6th generation and earlier cannot handle the remote on the headphones and how thick it is. I have always heard the 5.5 is the best sounding generation because of the Wolfson DAC but the 7th generation is probably my favorite. The 7th generation is pretty slim and lightweight it is the culmination of Apple’s attempt to make the iPod and is therefore “better” than the 6th generation because of the minor improvements that Apple made to it. I would definitely take a 7th generation over the 6th generation any day. Hope that helps! Thank you for your question :)
I’m glad I could help. I did the same thing, bought a 6th generation that I thought was a 7th and that is what prompted me to make this video. I hope you find the 7th generation iPod and enjoy it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The menu on the 5.5 and earlier is different than the 6th and 7th generation Classic iPods true. I believe, especially having both, that the 7th generation is far superior to the 6th generation, but that is my opinion. Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching! I hope you learned something 😀
You are welcome! I am glad that you are now able to sort your collection. Do you use your iPods daily for music or just collect them for display? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Sorry but your wrong on a lot of this, first of all there is no 7th gen. When the 6th gen came out they came in a 80 gig thin and a 160 gig thick. The 80 was a single platter HD and the 160 was double platter hence the thicker size. Then the next year they did what was called “revision 1” which was the 120 thin. Then the next year they did what was called “revision 2” which was just an upgrade to the thin 160 gig HD. Apple got those hard drive’s from Toshiba and it took them a while to make those single platter 160’s. Also the black faceplate was only on the first 6th gens, the metallic grey was introduced on the “revision 1” and used on the “revision 2”. Hope that helps.
I really appreciate your comment rogerdaltrey8937, I appreciate all the explanation that you described. I respectfully say that the iPod community in general agree that the last classic is called 7th generation by consensus. I have looked at the Apple identify iPod page support.apple.com/en-us/HT204217 and the touch, shuffle, nano and mini are very well labeled on their generation and time they were released. The O.G. iPod line is even more confusing and does a very poor job of labelling most of the iPod - iPod classic line. I still say that the iPod classic that was last released is different that the “Original classic (6th generation with black faceplate)”. The back is thin and the storage capacity inscription is smaller than the 6th generation. Also the faceplate is metallic gray rather than the original black. Thank you very much for watching and commenting!

Nice video I have classic 7th gen 160 gb , I found in ebay there is an ultimate one with Bluetooth and 2tb storage and 3000 mah battery sure will be amazing one what do you think about it
Yeah I have seen those before. DankPods had a 2TB iPod classic but it was truly unreliable. I would steer clear of 2TB because of his video showing the instability of it. BUT a 512GB or 1TB should work fine and be pretty stable. Me personally, I only need 10GB 😂 but I do think it is amazing what people can do with these ancient pieces of technology. Thanks for watching and commenting!
It's really legend device specially for those who interesting in music.. To me 10 GB can't cover 5% of what I need haha.. So I want to get the 2tb but you don't advise me.. So maybe I'll go to the 1 tb

😢 sorry. Look for the 7th generation online if you can, I know their expensive but sometimes you get lucky. Although like the video says a 6th generation is often shown as a 7th generation and vice versa.
@@DRMZBeatz the DAC is not the end all be all to say what the iPod is. iPods used the same DAC from generation to generation. The 160 GB thin back with small 160 GB writing is considered the 7th generation, the 120 GB is considered 6.5 generation, ALMOST a 7th generation but not. Sorry.
Thank you Stephen Isip for your comment. I wanted to show from external factors in case someone saw one in a pawn shop or at a garage sale and it wasn’t powered on.

160gb sales one person...now im buying What type checking procurer please telme bro
If the iPod is thin and there is not a lot of metal below the 30 pin and if the 160GB inscription is small, it is a 7th generation.
Hope that helps.
Battery check possible ah bro
You would have to plug it in with the 30 pin dock connector. The battery is over a decade old so it would probably need a replacement .
