    A little tip I use: Put masking tape right along the seams where you intend to pry from. It helps prevent your tool from sliding across the surface too much when you do happen to slip. It may not stop all marking but it will help keep any marks that do occur a bit on the smaller/more minor side. Granted, you may simply not give a damn with these products for all I know, but I figure the tip may at least be of use to someone.

    This is why I love your videos, you're the most honest TH-camr when it comes to classic iPods. I have modded many classic iPods myself and I always roll my eyes at other videos where they open these things in seconds. The only way that happens is if it has already been opened dozens of times before. The 5th gens aren't too difficult but can be tricky if never opened before, once they are opened its effortless to open them again. But the 6th and 7th are nearly impossible not to bend or damage the backplate unless you really know what you are doing.

    Once I’d managed to get the isesamo tool to open the back case a crack, I found that the best thing to keep the clips deactivated was a bunch of hair clips as they’re thin and slightly sprung metal.

    It's 2 am and I always end up watching videos like this only. I only own a 4th Gen, but I'm not really that crazy about iPods. DankPods just has a way of making videos that are very entertaining and fun to watch. I really enjoy your content!! c:

    As I usually change housing to Ipod, I simply open Classic's with flat scredriver. It destroys old case, but who cares, at least that way, I can open it in seconds.

  • @binaryflat
    @binaryflat ปีที่แล้ว

    I just did it, with this video playing. I had to pause it a few times, but was of great help. Made some minor scratches to my classic, but smoothed them with fine sandpaper (the aluminium top is very easy to scuff). Everything works, and looks good, and I am happy with it! I used the iSesame tool, and some auto feeler gauges to open case.

    Hey, at least it isn't as hard as an iPod nano 5th gen. I know a local repair shop and he has never fixed a 5th gen nano. He's repaired 160 iPod 7th gens.

    I've got one of these 6th gen 80gbs, I've got a new case, iflash solo and all the fixins, new headphone and hold switch and a 2000mah bat tree coming for it. The first time I cracked the original case open I broke the little rail thing on the inside that clips it together so its very easy to open now (but doesnt seal shut properly) so the hard bits done aside from swapping out almost everything
