Alex Høgh Andersen (Ivar The Boneless) Is legit the best actor I've ever seen. He wasn't an old actor. Vikings were the first movie he was in. And the best thing is, he's Danish, like me! :D. That scene is the best I've seen in Vikings. Just the way he screams at the English men Is so powerful! And he, of course, can't kill every one of them by himself. So he screams and scares them. And they can't understand what he is saying! And that demonic laugh at 2:19 is just priceless. Best Viking EVER!
This kid Alex Høgh Andersen just has that look ... I can't explain it any further than that but, in my opinion, not many actors could've pulled off those facial expression and screams along with the tone of the lines spoken ... he killed it. Similar to Bill Skarsgård and his "It" portrayal ... (another Scandinavian, Andersen being a Dane and Skarsgård a Swede)

After seeing that his brother has shook the enemy to the point that not one of them will challenge Ivar he charges to slaughter the cowards, but not until he has shown that they fear his little Brother.

@Carl Coriell Aslaug treated him with pity since he was a child, treated him like a cripple and gave special attention to him, Ragnar No, he treated him as if he were a normal warrior and that he would bring great fear to the Saxons in the future
I can’t even decide what part of this scene is my favorite. Blood running down his face in a manner that shows him as bloodthirsty, the chanting in Norse, laughing and applauding a man that wants to kill him, getting shot in the leg and looking as if it’s an inconvenience instead of an injury. Such a brutal yet iconic scene
One of my fav scenes in the whole series. Ivar took his ruthlessness just as his father told him to, and used it to his ultimate advantage here. Even Ubbe was shocked that he was able to hold everyone back like that.. and I don’t doubt the Saxons were probably scared shitless seeing a psycho covered in blood, laughing and screaming in Old Norse lmao
There's a certain beauty in that guttural raging frenzy against seemingly insurmountable odds, regardless of success or failure. That sheer refusal is just beautiful.
The camerawork is next level. Shaking around while he screams makes it feel like he really is causing the earth to quake. It makes him 1000× more terrifying.
I love this scenes detail as hes knocked from his chariot and takes that huge breath in from being winded, you see the blood vessels in his left eye pop.
When I first saw this scene, I was still in season 1, I had no idea who Ivar was, but I was eager to find out. Look at the situation, a cripple holding off an army, announcing himself in powerful way. His bones broken, because his eyes are crystal blue, which was a sign his brothers had to check for all the time as children, but he still manages to strike fear into the men. Angry, skilled, and intelligent, yet he looks weak. That is a mixture to fear.
01:35 the face of his brother seeing Ivar holding an entire army because they are scared of him, I think in that moment he was a bit scared of Ivar too.

-The actor is Danish so he's saying more "dræbe" then "drepe" which means kill.
-The "eg" used for me/I is from a Norwegian dialect. The written word for me/I in Norwegian is "jeg". (Jeg er viking/ I am Viking)
If you want to feel the spirit of your viking ancestors look up Wardruna. Personally I like the song "helvegen" live from a cave with Aurora and Oslo Fagottkor featured.
And If you search "leaving Kattegat" here on TH-cam you'll find the video from the Series where Einar Selvik himself (Wardruna) sings on the docks as Ragnar and the others leave for France.
A "Skald" was a singer in the Viking age, and Einar Selvik is by far considered today's era best Skald.

This is soldiers from a God-fearing nation, the only absolute truth for these soldiers is, that God decides, rules and commands EVERY aspect of life, and they are standing there watching this crippled man sitting there, shouting, laughing and he is at that point the embodiment of evil in those mens eyes. Because the saxons a death fearing. And to see a man. Blood soaked, screaming and laughing in the face of death. With such savagery, such confidence.
