The husband Hunter is also an athlete. He had both his legs amputated as a child, and went on to join the Paralympics as a sprinter using blade prosthetic legs. He won bronze in Tokyo and will be competing for this years Paralympics as well! They have an incredibly touching love story

Yes, Hunter is a sensitive soul. Go watch the video where his blades failed right before a race. It was heartbreaking to see him sob. But it was also heartwarming to see Tara (and his competitors) comfort him. There's also another video where Tara throws him a surprise party where his mom and best friend shows up. Yep, he cries again.

I loved how after he congratulated her, he let the moment be hers and told her to go see her coach and family. And she supports and roots for him just as fiercely. This was only competition I watched live. His affirmation to her when she qualified, "it's preparing you for something better" gives me chills. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was going to win gold. I will be rooting just as hard for him and he's going to win gold in the Para-Olympics. They are such an inspiring couple.
