- Time to check out a game from my childhood that caused me so much stress, frustration and blind rage... was younger me just a bad gamer or was the game really THAT unbearable???
Thanks Cryptid for the amazing thumbnail artwork:

I can't believe The SImpsons predicted Uber.
That's a joke, right?
@@ChaseMC215 no shit sherlock
@@dylanz-jjba
I was asking a question, sir.
Another case of “Simpsons did it first”
@@SATVRDAY13 Someone had to make the joke
"There's something wrong with my Willie." Dude, phrasing.
Bahahaha I didn't even think of that, good catch.
Simpson’s road rage: so crazy taxi that they got sued by sega
Simpsons Hit and Run was definitely on of the PS2's best games ever for me, I'll always stand by it
💯
Road rage came out before TH-cam so playing it as a kid, I didn't know I was supposed to hate it and I accidentally loved it
@@TrillMurray
Only plus about the game was that 90% of the cars made it into Hit&Run, but seriously *someone please kill that poor old man...*
@@TrillMurray because its good af these kids are retarded, both are good.
Battle for Bikini Bottom blows it out of the water
First game I ever played right here... I used to be absolutely terrified of the timer counting down haha.
aw it was brutal, the only "timer" game i enjoyed was time crisis on ps1 as a kid, new appreciation for this but yeah, it was similar to time trials in crash games, not great for a kid
There's a countdown in Crazy Taxi as well.
Bro same. That shit gave me mad anxiety lmao
I'm so old I might as well be dead already.
"DESPITE ALL MY ROAD RAGE , I AM STILL JUST A SIMPSON IN A CAGE "
Man that just flows off the tongue doesn't it
looking forward to hearing this at homerpalooza
Was thrilled to see you give the GBA version so much love. It was the version I played in childhood. I was always curious what I was missing out on with the consoles.
He definitely did Stop Skeletons From Fighting proud, that's for sure.
"Thieves stole my save file" - Jak, probably
Nice to see Road Rage get some love, i feel its always forgotten behind Hit and Run
Can't get over how smooth the transition from the intro to the episodes logo is now. It's so good!
I agree When you put effort this is how you know it’s Satisfying
Aw man, I honestly fucking adore Crazy Taxi. It's my relaxation game. I can basically just turn my brain off and plow through that game whenever I'm stressed out. Getting good at the advanced techniques also feels super rewarding imo.
"I became a millionaire by driving back and forth in Simpson's Road Rage" sounds almost like one of those crazy game exploiting videos.
"Simpsons Road Rage is Perfectly Balanced with No Exploits!"
That new intro is just fucking smooth.
I totally agree it’s awesome
It's missing that jingle at the end though
This and hit and run were definitely one of my favorites
Yeah mine too i love hit and run in particular so much love and detail has gone into that game with the gags, collector cards, variety of vehicles from the show still enjoy exploring those massive levels today
I remember searching for this on Ebay and finding it for 20$. I was so excited and then immediately disappointed when I realized the game I really wanted was Hit & run.
My favorite intro on TH-cam, glad to see you posting on the regular again Square Eyed Jak, always enjoy your content, much respect mate.
I've been watching your videos for years and man it's crazy to see how far your channel has come, I still remember watching your Spyro enter the dragonfly review and laughing my ass off.
Well, at least we got hit & run out of this so it lead to something good. Good to see you reviewing again, Jak! :)
I don't know why, but it's so satisfying to see you review some of my favorite childhood games and subsequently tear them a new ass. I love Road Rage to death, but it has aged poorly imo, and you actually helped me realize how much bullshit was present in the game. You always seem to have a nice blend of rage, creativity, know how, and humor when it comes to reviewing games. How you don't have AT LEAST 100k subs yet is downright criminal imo. You're awesome Jak, you're videos are always a joy to watch, and I look forward to seeing you make more awesome content!
wait, this isn't a racing game? whenever I saw the box art I thought it was
...all these years, I've been living a lie
It was gonna be a kart racer at one point
No I would say hit and run is more of a racer as each large level has 3 different races to complete that is still my favourite Simpson game I love all the little details and variety of vehicles to drive
At its core, it's just 1 very long checkpoint race.
Did you know that Sega actually sued the developer and publisher of Road Rage for it being too similar to Crazy Taxi? No joke.
11:12 - That ending was also in the Gamecube version.
The Kang and Kodos section is the hardest i’ve laughed in ages. Absolutely incredible stuff.
Did you record this on an emulator?
Just wondering since I noticed a lot of flickering in the graphics (ie Marge's missing eyes, Willie's LSD eyes and shadow flickering) which are extremely common problems on emulators.
Nope on my PS2 with the Framemeister like usual.
@@SquareEyedJak I’m guessing this is your copy Can’t blame I have some games where the game flickers on disk too.
Willie's eyes always flickered on my copy as well, never noticed Marge's death stare though(thankfully)
I remember playing this game when I was a kid. A friend of mine actually got it twice because his parents thought Hit & Run and Road Rage were the same game. They got the right game eventually, but that was just a bit awkward. Anyway, keep up the awesome work, dude! It’s always a good day when a new Square Eyed Jak video comes out.
I don't have time to watch this right now as I'm at work, but just I just jumped on to like it and write this comment. You're killing it Jake. Really like seeing your channel grow and the content you're producing. Keep it up cobber.
Happy to see you kicking ass with your reviews again! Oh, and that Marge part in the beginning was absolute gold!
I grew up with both the gba and console versions and I think both are fun games but only in small sessions if I play for more then a hour I get exhausted and need to play something else hit and run however I can sink hours upon hours into
This is the type of stuff I keep coming back for. Great job!
I dont expect many to care but crazy taxi does have a decent amount of depth to it that you can play around with in the home console release. Trying to get a high score while learning the various techniques you can pull off kept me satisfied for a few hours at least.
Marge in the Character select screen is 5-Volt from WarioWare
I had both Road Rage and Hit n' Run. Like Jak said RR as well as Crazy Taxi are fun in short bursts but if you really want a fun Simpsons game, Hit n' Run is the way to go.
I fail to see how my younger self was able to 100% this game... three times. D'oh!
All I’ll say is I’m glad Hit and Run was the Simpsons driving game I played growing up
Hit and Run is a better game than Road Rage.
@@mycoolvsgame yeah I agree road rage is still fun but to me hit and run will always be my favourite Simpson game as I will always love exploring the massive levels and driving around and doing cool jumps
I played both growing up
@@therunawaykid6523 Road Rage basically is a prototype for Hit And Run since many of the phrases uttered in the game here got reused 2 years later in 2003 fir the other game. Phrases such as:
"Everyone better stay out of my way!"
"The time for action is now!"
"Well it's about time!"
"They'll never take me alive I tell you! Never!"
"Awesome man, that was the best ride ever!"
@@Thomasmemoryscentral yeah that is true, and I guess if we didn’t have road rage there would be no hit and run to follow I really hope we get a sequel at some point in the future
GameCube version also has Kang and kodos show up
love your videos makes me happy everytime i see that you uploaded ❤️
Hit and run is still my favourite Simpsons game love the variety of vehicles and all the little details and collector cards, still find it fun exploring the massive levels to this day
Another great review.
I remember playing this game a lot growing up and I always wanted to fully complete it. Then the repetitiveness and the lack of variety always kicked in and I just got bored and gave up. Every time I try to complete the game, I just couldn't do it.
Me too
Simpsons Road Rage and Hit & Run were my absolute faves growing up! I really hope there will be remasters in the future 🤞🏼🤞🏼
There’s more of a demand for a Hit and Run remaster because it was much more popular
I mean the rights are with Disney now so, not likely...
(On the upside someone is remaking Hit&Run from scratch animated in cell shading with hand animated cutscenes and it's mod friendly, someone even remade the Homer cubed Dimension from Treehouse of Horror)
@@VerdeMorte I know it'll likely never happen. It's just wishing thinking more than anything 😅
As someone who was there when you live streamed this & when your top 10 ps2 memory icon video came out, I would've loved this 5 years ago. Worth the wait, thanks Jak once again
This game made me never want to drive in real life when i was a kid 🤦♂️ cant wait for the Hit and Run review!!
My experience with this game was largely a positive one - but my circumstances made me basically the perfect audience for this game. I'm the oldest of five, and we'd play Road Rage by taking turns. This means my experience matched the one-session-at-a-time arcade experience that the original Crazy Taxi was meant for, as opposed to long sessions playing on your own, which the gameplay loop absolutely doesn't support.
From that perspective, sure, it was a Crazy Taxi ripoff, but it was a good one, with characters I loved and was familiar with, and some funny lines in it. That's why I'm about the only person I know who liked it better than Hit & Run, which I thought had a fun story, but the gameplay in between always felt like a chore.
I'm so glad I'm watching your videos again, your humor is why I subscribed years ago 😂
9:36 You sir have found the ultimate speedrun trick in this video game. Although that infinite loop in Evergreen Terrace only works in the PlayStation 2 version.
I’m a 21 year old who works full time and has his own place
And here I am laughing to hard I fell off my bed all because square eyed jack said “there’s something wrong with my Willy”
Thrill ho! OMG 5/10!!!! I think that is the highest score I've seen on this channel hahah
Lol I’ve seen it 10/10 It was a joke in a video
Oh hey. It’s Simpsons Crazy Tax-I mean Road Rage.
will you review hit and run next i would love that
Wow, what a surprise from my favorite buddy jak!
To be honest, I never knew you could clip through buildings after getting trapped by one of those radioactive busses. Hell, I've unlocked every car and location when I last played without a save card, and I never had that issue.
"That's the best ride I've ever had." Oh Willie I bet it was.
I guess this is pre-Maggie, because Homer has 3 hairs.
In the beginning the song that was yah yah yah whats tbat from i remember it from when i was younger but forgot what game
Your a legend of a channel epic video like always mate keep it up
Love the new intro! Glad to see more Jak!
Cant wait for simpsons hit & run review
I honestly get really happy when I get a notification for a new video from you.
Loved the vid Jak. Keep going with what you’re doing 🙂
Imo, better than The Simpson's Skateboarding
That new intro is absolutely amazing
Homer with three hairs always confused me lol..... but found this in my recommended great review and one of my most nostalgic Simpsons games! 👍
3:19 "there is something wrong with my willie" same :/
1:20 Crazy Taxi was a game that was first released in the arcades in February 1999 and was ported to the SEGA Dreamcast on February 2nd, 2000, got a sequel on the SEGA Dreamcast called Crazy Taxi 2 released on May 29th, 2001, and then got a third game exclusive to the OG Xbox called Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller that released on June 23rd, 2002. Keep in mind that the release dates I'm mentioning are the North American releases and the ones that SEGA published and developed themselves. The version on PS2 was a port developed by Acclaim that was released on May 17th, 2001 which is a whole 12 days before Crazy Taxi 2 on SEGA Dreamcast. The Simpsons: Road Rage in comparison to the first three Crazy Taxi games is by far the worst Crazy Taxi clone if I ever saw one. It's slightly better than the London Cab Challenge game, but that ain't saying much when it looks and plays like a complete dumpster fire that a skunk died in. I played the OG Xbox version of The Simpsons: Road Rage as my friend let me borrow it for a month and it sucked like hell. After the month was up and I had him play it, which he has never played before and once he did, we both decided to make a campfire and burn the game. Seriously, a bad game when even my friend and I both agree to set it on fire.
When I first discovered the GBA version I thought it looked like a headache. I guess that mostly applies if it’s blown up cause now I can appreciate just how impressive it is for a driving game on GBA.
Also yeah I agree Crazy Taxi’s physics are really stiff. I never figured out how to get good or unlock more levels.
Your videos are so well produced! That intro got me in just the right mood for this.
Just when I was looking for something good to watch!
My memories of this game mostly seem to remember that money became slower to earn as you played, since I seem to recall that newer characters unlocked had a one-time boost per level where you got a bit more money for playing them, but repeated plays as that character would slowly reduce the money earned for that character.
Though, I don't know if that was actually the case and it was just me beginning to slack/lose interest in the game the more I played because I wanted to get everyone unlocked, but I think the last tome I played, I just messed with cheat codes and changing my PS2 dates to see the seasonal holiday variants of characters because it was one of those games that acknowledged the day you were playing like Halloween and Christmas.
Despite all that, it's one for the GameCube collection in the future since I don't own a PS2 anymore and any multi-console game I used to play, I try and get the GameCube version of.
I personally feel Hit & Run did the Crazy Taxi style gameplay better, even though it took some very clear inspiration from GTA.
excellent content as always brotha
Nice edit. Love how you make fun of those silly characters. Good video, cheers!
Absolutely love the new intro jak real good work there
Jak Radical were able to get the combined map to work on the PS2, one day after it shipped. Asked a Radical dev myself
This is definitely my favourite of the three titles of Simpson's run of knockoffs on the PS2. I guess a large part of that is because Crazy Taxi is one of my favourite arcade games ever. I can't agree with it having no staying power just because there's no progression or epic story or whatever. It'd be like saying "Tetris has no variation, it's not a good home game".
So interesting... usually I have shared your experience with a console version and discover the portable version through your videos.
This time, however, I happened to have grown up with the gameboy version and only played the console version a few times, when it was rented.
I always thought the Gameboy port was fun, but felt the console one was better (presentation, 3D graphics, etc).
Seeing the video though, it's clear that I just didn't spend enough time with the game to see its shortcomings. Great vid, like always. Cheers, mate!
"there is something wrong with my Willie" square eyed Jak 2021
I actually enjoyed this a lot as a teen on the PS2, I'd actually love a remake (well more a reboot where they add a bit more content and ideas to it ideally, as I agree it's a little simplistic in game modes, and a hell of a grind to fully complete) - even as a kid I knew it was basic, but I still would have given it a 7/10 in the day.
Great review as always Jak :D
Such a spot on review for both Road Rage & Crazy Taxi.
I love them both, but have a hard time playing them for any length of time.
Criminally underrated content
A Simpsons review! Let’s gooo Jak! 👏👏👏
Now we're hoping you review hit and run soon.
I got the GBA version of this game for Christmas back in 2006 or 8. Yeah, I did enjoy the only Simpsons game that came out on the GBA. Thanks Uncle Larry.
Despite its issues, I love this game 😁 Love the big selection of Simpsons characters to choose from and I love unlocking them as you progress through the game. To me this game is pretty flawed, but still a good time. The Simpson's Hit & Run will always be the best Simpson's game imo
I still maintain that Virtual Springfield had the best map, it just had a good layout. A shame it was captured with pre rendered movement and the actual 3D map is gone.
I do have some old memories of this game, I still own it too. I did like Crazy Taxi, but what I find funny about that game is that the sequel took the crazy hop from an arcade game called Taxi Driver. I doubt they knew that game did it first though.
5:12
It takes a lot to actually sit down, write, record and then publish online a statement like this
A lot of stupidity, that is, to write and say something this wrong on so many levels
10:30 I'm seeing double here! Four Apus!
Yes! I remember having this game growing up so its super nostalgic for me :D
now we just prepare for the inevitable hit and run review
It's awesome to see you make videos again man, I hope that you're doing alright and nice new intro.
About Crazy Taxi: SEGA has always thrived with arcade titles, which is why the SEGA Genesis & Dreamcast are literally home arcade machines, and why some of the most famous & notorious SEGA franchises are either designed as arcade games, or straight ports of such titles.
With that in mind, it's easy to see how Crazy Taxi would fare much better as an arcade machine in your local mall than as a console title. From the stiff controls to the very repetitive gameplay, all of that suits a chunky coin-stealer with a couple buttons and a single joystick much better than a PS2.
Hi Jak keep up the great content!
It's good at first, but it becomes repetitive and grindy a bit after a while, but free roaming in the level without timer is fun.
My best run were with Frink at the dam I was getting 25 000$ on average, but it's still a chore to get 1 000 000 and it's not really worth it in the end
I still don’t get the rating system for gba games
It may be repetitive, but it is relaxing game. Also to mention the quotes by the characters, which are the best ones. My favourite area is Entertainment District, always earn the most in this one.
JACK IS BACK! Man, that new intro looks so good! 👌🏻
Crazy taxi is a great game
This was a fun watch, glad Jak got to not only Review the Console Versions of Road Rage, but the GBA Version as well, which was considered better than the console versions, wish The Simpsons made more games like this, the quirky parody stuff, wouldn't mind it if the Simpson's made a full blown Kart Racer, cause I would buy that. 😄
I remember this game, i rented for gamecube twice, but I think never reached the million dollar mark. It helps I rented so I could experience in a few bursts. But I did have a lot of fun with the references and stuff.
This game is basically why SEJ is always so angry when he talks of videogames
How I miss your reviews man, thanks for always making good content. 🤘
