I feel like this song incapsulates soo many different decades of rock n roll. The simplicity of the lyrics and repetitive structure reminds me of the blues, and the booming guitar has a kind of 1950's Link Ray texture, some of the phrasing reminds me of the 60's (wonderful thi-i-i-i-i-i-ing), and her delivery and body language is classic 70's "rockstar". The tasseled jacket and the random kicks for emphasis, it doesn't feel like mimicking it feels like embodying or invoking. It's a shining example to me of a true artist. She is referencing many things while simultaneously synthesizing them into a new and unique creation.
The power cut out midway through 'This Is Love' that night. She stopped, took a sip of water and when the power got hooked up she rocked it right where she left off not missing a beat and the crowd went nuts. Very cool moment.
