    Thanks for the great feedback on this tutorial! A few additional notes - since I was trying to keep the video as short and concise as possible:
    1. The collection in the description of the video is complete and contains all of the visual mods you will need, including all necessary requirements of those mods. Do not subscribe to *any* additional mods that affect the visuals in the game. Mods such as Sharp textures, Clouds and Fog Toggler, Post Process FX v1.9.0, etc. are all either incompatible or included with these mods and may cause issues or the game to not load.
    2. This includes the recommended mod dependencies of *Relight* - Do not subscribe to Ultimate Eye Candy and Shadow Strength Adjuster.
    3. Pittsburgh is a hilly city, if your city is not - lower both your *Horizon Height setting* and *Fog Height* settings gradually in Fog Controller until you see the blue horizon right above your map and fog is at the desired level.
    4. You may want to adjust Longitude and Latitude in Theme Mixer. Mine is set for a city in Midwestern/Rust-Belt region of the US. Look up the values to your desired region to adjust for extra realism.
    5. Most Cubemaps on the workshop have an ideal Longtitude, Latitude, and time of day to make the sun light the cubemap and skybox correctly. To see the the ideal settings, check the workshop pictures for the cubemap you’ve downloaded on steam.
    I hope this tutorial was helpful for your city’s visuals and lighting! If you have any additional questions, feel free to comment them below.

    I've never gone this deep into the graphics rabbit hole thus far, but this video gave me the inspiration to try it out. What a difference! Compatibility Report cringes a little with some of these mods, but it all works after the latest update. I also installed Relight without Ultimate Eyecandy, Shadow Strength Adjuster, and Ability to Read and it all works just fine.

    • @GaseousStranger
      @GaseousStranger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, thank you for the comment. Those recommended dependencies for Relight are all outdated so you did the correct thing not to add them. I tried to make the collection complete, so no other graphics mods should be added additionally. Compatibility report will say Relight is outdated as well, and it may be somewhat outdated, but I think it’s absolutely vital for achieving nice visuals!

    • @thefreephilosopher7398
      @thefreephilosopher7398 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @apd1004: Well, as you already had the ability to read, the "Ability to Read" dependency was superfluous, no?
      All jokes aside, the "Ability to Read" mod is an inside joke for mod makers that were tired of telling people to RTFM and just pointed out these users needed the "Ability to Read" using this "dependency"... REV0 even made 4 iterations: "Ability to read", "Ability to comprehend", "Ability to Use Translator", and the most pressing "Ability to Use Common Sense", for the hardcore PebCaK People...

    Mine didn't really end up looking like your at all. It would be useful to show it start from a 'vanilla' look. Then for each setting showed show what it should look like at that point. Would make it easier to identify and what step it went wrong. I believe it may be due to the menus looking alot different now. Also the LUT will not apply from theme mixer, I had to do it in Render it.

    • @GaseousStranger
      @GaseousStranger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely recommend looking at CPU’s with high single core clock speeds, that makes the biggest difference I believe in the performance of the simulation and reducing lag/stuttering. After that, of course fast RAM and an equally fast page file make a big difference as well. 64GB is the max that the game can take advantage of. For your page file, you can set the storage up to 4x of your RAM amount to load in additional assets beyond the limit of your RAM.
      The GPU was mostly to aid in video editing and now comes in handy for 3D modeling, but in C:S it’s completely unnecessary! I never really surpass more than 10-12gb of VRAM even while pushing the limits of every graphics mod in dense areas. I hope you enjoy the new parts you decide to pick up :)

    Question though, at 2:54, "Classic Fog (Enable Cubemap)" is unchecked. On my side when its left unchecked, the sky is left pure blue with only some of the AD clouds in place. Shouldn't it be checked to enable use of the Cubemap Replacer? When I checked Classic Fog (Enable Cubemap), the entire sky populated with the cubemap I selected.

    I have one problem tho: i have downloaded all the visual mods you have and set everything with precise numbers as you did in this video, except for the dinamic resolution (had to keep it at 150%, or max at 200 or I have too low fps), and my game doesn't really look like your.
    I gotta say that I got this game just a few days ago, played for just a few hours spent mostly struggling with the damn roundabout exits, built some houses etc, and that's almost basically it. After that I closed the game and looked for some mods to help me with the nodes, marking tools etc.. Well..All this is beside the point, but I've looked for some nice graphic mods too like in this video and I can't figure out why my game still looks bad. Now I've started a new city where I didn't build much, but I can already see, for example from the trees, that the graphic is still kinda grainy even after I've installed everything in your visual mod collection.
    Do you have any suggestion?

      As a *LONG* time user of Ultimate Eye Candy, it’s well worth the transition. On top of some moderate performance gains, you are able to achieve so much more visually with Render-it!
      I held on to Ultimate Eye Candy until just a few months ago because I could never get the settings right, it ruined my visuals and it was intimidating to start over. But after many hours of tweaks and adjustments, I was able to get the game looking better than ever before. Now hopefully this video provides a good starting point, so nobody else needs to spend hours in the settings :)

    I was doing fine following along and copying settings with RenderIt until I got to Advanced - where your tab looks COMPLETELY different than mine. On my game, the 'Advanced' tab only has a place for keymap settings for profiles and nothing else?? (whereas your shows a large variety of additional settings) I only dl'd it a few days ago so I assume I got the most current version, but I will check again...
    Also (for anyone searching like I had to) , to get into the Relight options you need to click Shift + Alt + L
    Having said that, thank you very much for this video - it's always frustrated me that the game was so flat I sometimes couldn't tell when it was going up or down. Those days will be gone for good! (or at least until the mod providers abandon them.) :)

    Wow, I flew over from the UK to visit Pittsburgh only six weeks ago, and its uncanny how closely you've nailed it! Wish I could zip back and have another pint in Satalio's pub overlooking the city from Mt. Washington, while watching videos of your build. :)

    Thanks for the video. I always get mixed feelings when I see these C:S realistic graphics video's. On one end they are really gorgeous, but every time when I try to copy it (even these precise settings as shown in the video) my result doesn't even come close to these realistic. I'm using the same theme's, mods etc, but it still just looks meh🤷‍♂
    And Render It has changed so much and seem to keep certain settings "hostage" by now.
    In your and most video's around these awesome graphics settings from the 12 months all have the Vanilla Tonemapping and Vanilla Color Correction LUT settings not active, but when I do that on my end no LUT ever gets applied, nor does the Relight settings. And when I do activate it, the graphics still won't look as close as f.e. 4:43

    Thanks for this, I've just copied your settings to use as a base to slightly tweak, other than the coordinates which are correct for my city.
    I don't get the clouds looking as good as yours, I must have another mod conflicting with it, coz I've been playing around trying to sort this for years.
    Will have to go through and workout which mods are conflicting tomorrow.
    Cheers

      Make sure to not subscribe to any visual mods other than the ones mentioned in the video and included in the collection in the description (even the popular ones like Shadow strength adjuster, Cloud and fog toggler, etc) as they may introduce issues and conflicts
