Several years back I extensively drove through almost every nook and cranny of the Rocky Mountains. The most fascinating aspect of the drive was associated with the various changes in elevation. I'd start my drive with my windows rolled down at a comfortable 70 degrees only to roll them up and turn on the heater a half hour later because I was then driving through the snow at 30 degrees. This is a detail that I believe you should include in your build. Granted, the summits immediately surrounding Boulder may not contain such a variation in climate, but it is a defining staple of the mountains the further in you drive. That - and it's absolutely beautiful!!
Here to add myself to the "still playing CS1" group. I've been a fan of your builds since I saw that amazing Pittsburgh build you did since God knows when. We really appreciate this CS1 content!
Wow this is incredible work! This really goes to show just how much room for growth there is in C:S2. I'm even just blown away by how good the terrain looks. I feel like you can't get cliffs and mountains to look this good in the sequel yet. Can't wait to see how this city evolves.
This is so accurate! I am from the Denver/Boulder area, and everything is spot on-- the map theme, the lighting, assets, landscape-- all of it. I particularly liked the tease for the next episode with the shopping center, it looks so familiar! Very well done!
really amazing first episode, thanks for sharing it with us! I go back and forth between two builds. one is like this which is a smaller city and lots of brick. the other is the traditional large downtown core city. Both are very fun… but very different. 😊 My only one bit of feedback/suggestion is at 19:22. That really large stone retaining wall… that thing is taller than the city hall building. I’m not sure that a town this size would invest the money to build that type of massive infrastructure project or have a real “need” to build it. Take it with a grain of salt. everything looks amazing. I figured you are probably like me and don’t mind constructive feedback in the aim of making it a more realistic build. best of luck on the continued success of the channel! I’ll def be watching, you got a new subscriber here for sure. 🤙
Thanks for the feedback, I will take that into account. Nobody has called that wall out yet, but it never felt right to me either. I will let this city grow and change some and have no problem removing things that don’t make sense. If you have any ideas of what to place there instead, please let me know but I am going to think on that for a while as well!
@ you’re welcome! glad to see you didn’t take it negatively, all love here. 🤙 My first thought was to just level it out with terrain tools. But then I had two other thoughts that would be kinda fun and fit into the lore. 1. make some sort of tiered open pit mine that has been closed down now and has been converted into a city park. park paths, or tiered hanging gardens with a small atrium for part of it would be really sweet. That would be a really cool way of showing the history of the town and getting to do a unique/custom build using the difficult terrain. And then also showing the progression to the modern city and what it has become. The second idea was similar to the 1st and do a type of quarry. close down it now has water at the bottom. that would be logical why there is a large open quarry/cliff face and again, it would make sense in this town that has gone from a mining town into a tourist town. I did literally just have a 3rd idea that i’ve never seen done before. I saw you put in the outdoors shop. How cool would it be to have like an outdoor rock wall face that people use to go climbing on. I have zero clue how to do that. lol But in theory you could do a lot of stuff with it. like one of those outdoor adventure parks that has zip lines kayaking etc. Just spit balling. Feel free to throw any dumb ideas in the trash. Sometimes the bad ideas spark a good idea… never know! Best of luck with it, i’m sure you’ll figure out something cool to do with it. I’m looking forward to following your progress. Again, really awesome stuff. thank you!
This will be legendary for sure!!! Very reminiscent of Arrowhead Junction. Your attention to detail and placement is so satisfying. Great to see you back.
I love the designing of the town. It’s really beautiful of Dakota Falls rocks star but I really like what you did in the town. You just need to add a few things a hospital police fire. And grocery stores and Walla your town is half completed on your second episode.
Oh I totally will, but probably not a direct copy. I want it to be based more on some smaller cities to account for CS scale. But the IDS center might be nice as a tallest skyscraper if I could fit it. I love that tower
I'm looking forward to this series, beautifully done so far. Dakota Falls is a graphic heavy map that is to intense for my PC. I didn't recognize the courthouse but I found it. Also at 5:59, the white building with the white awning on far right...I don't recognize that one.
New series!!! You manage to get your cities to look so realistic, I was wondering if you could make a new video about your graphics settings for the game? I know you already have one but many mods are depreciated from that video. Love from Canada!
@@GaseousStranger All good! I don't think you really have to adjust much. King Soopers and Safeway are like Kroger or Walmart, so they wouldn't really fit in on that old mainstreet you built here anyway/
Since this is a super Boulder-ey build, I'm wondering if you'll do the University of Rock Springs in the Tuscan Vernacular Revival architectural style that CU Boulder has. Super distinctive look.
This city looks gorgeous! I was pretty disappointed with CS2 idk if that’s because the community needs more time to come out with custom content but the world looks too cookie cutter and cartoonish for me. I love the realism that CS1 has and am hoping in time CS2 will have more custom assets seen in this video
Hey man i just started watching you like yesterday i was watching your cs 1 super realistic graphics mods list thing and this showed up in my recommendation today the timing for me to see episode one of a new series is insane i should watch the video now instead of writing this 😭😭😭
woah i didn't know you could do so much amazing things in CS 1, and its rare to see youtubers still playing it. I currently play the CS1 and was amazed by how much stuff you could do in the game. What mod did you use to change the color of the building?
Love the concept! Insane detailing. Any chance you can drop a list or Steam collection of the active mods you're using? Trying to get back into CS1 and even with SKYVE, I cant seem to sort out my mods list.

What map theme is this in Cities Skylines? By the way, how did you create all of this? (I don't know why I'm jealous of a bit.) Your city is damn awesome dude! I'm a big fan and I give this a 100/10 ⭐🙌
The first game is so much better, there’s very little interesting or attractive about the sequel. It is barely catching up with the first game in some aspects and severely lacking in others :/

That feeling when you found the beginning of an amazing video series.
That feeling when knee surgery is tommorow thank you ted 😛

Thanks so much! means a lot to hear
This is an outstanding start to a series. Been looking for more CS:1 content. Subscribed!
What a great start to the city, can't wait to see more! Really love the sloped pedestrian main streets and the hiking area.
Thank you! both will be added on to as well most likely :)

An addition of multiple firewatch towers across the map could be really cool
The amount of detail here is insane...
The hotel nestled into the hills and trees gives me old school RT 66 vibes. Awesome start to the series.
True inspiration. After 4 years of 81 tile NYC / NJ and 880 000 population and no further notes to cut free, I should try a new city, too.
I love Colorado!
I am excited for this series, thank you!
Me too 😄

one of thje best maps in the workshop
I think CS1 is far better than CS2 in every single way. This video proves it.
Agree!
Half of this game literally looks like the sequel with all of these mods.
For the flatter areas, you could totally pull inspiration from Minneapolis.

A Wegmans teaser? Lets go!

To give it that western feeling, you should use stores like King Soopers or Safeway 👌🏽👌🏽

14:28 all the boulders have the same double-toothed edge so it looks really unnatural.
