Heavens above your list goes on and on. I believe in the K.I.S.S. principle. So in my bag, one body and two lenses 35-50mm or 50- 90mm. a spare card, a spare battery a lens blower maybe a mini umbrella if needed and thats it . Total weight less than 2kgs. I am already 74 so I don't need to come back feeling 94. In that regard 2 hour coffee stops are almost mandatory :)
Haha - it’s not actually that much more than you would take Dennis. I just talk a lot. I could do without the spare lenses and the power bank if I’m honest. Maybe I should do an absolute essentials list - but that would just say “Camera.”
Great video Hugh, a very comprehensive list, I have most of these in my bag also. I am thinking of keeping a check list as recently I have been shooting with two systems and last time I went out I took the wrong type of batteries! 🤦🏻♂ That was a short walk that day 😆
I may not be a photographer but I am a bag lady! You can never have too many in my opinion, and I tend to carry everything but the kitchen sink, just in case. You must have a lot of pegs for all your bags! I enjoyed learning what I’d need to pack if on a shoot, thank you Hugh xxg
Gotta agree with you on the Wandrd Rogue sling. The 9L fits my Z8 and 24-70/f2.8 along with another lens, and can still carry all my little things, and a laptop. Insanity. Been using their Prvke 31L backpack for almost 4 years now and its the best bag I own.
The silica packets are a great idea, but remember that they eventually become saturated and won't absorb any more moisture. The good news is that they can be reactivated/recharged easily by heating them at low heat in an oven (search online for instructions).
I did this recently with some I collected, they melted. So please be careful and use a tray you don't mind destroying. A well know online bozo store sells rechargeable versions that can go in the microwave and change colour when saturated so you know when to recharge.
I just carry the camera but in some countries it´s better to not carry an expensive camera openly. So, an old backpack and a camera sometimes is the sensible choice for me. I never use dedicated camera backs.
Yep - great advice. There’s no point advertising what you’re carrying. I just seem incapable of leaving the house with just a camera. If I could carry my house on my back, I’m pretty sure I would 🐌
What kind of photographer does not enjoy a bit of bag porn? I don't (yet) have a Leica, but when I do I am going to buy one of those beautiful German leather bags designed specifically for Leicas. Oberwerth seem to create gorgeous bags. One thing I carry with me is a small spiral-bound notebook in which I can write down anything of interest, especially the What3Words location of places I may wish to revisit. I plan to have my own TH-cam channel and intend to give fellow snappers the precise locations of my shots, so noting down things is a necessity.
Thanks David - yes, those bags do look gorgeous. I’ve often been tempted but I already own way more than I need! I don’t carry a notebook but your point about locations is a good one. My camera does capture GPS but I also take shots of places I’d like to return to on my phone and also tag them with Google maps to revisit at a later time.
Hugh. Sorry but had to keep skipping through this video due to the extremely annoying and loud background music. Has it been there on your other videos and I hadn’t noticed, I am not sure. 🙁🙁

@@hughrawson Just think less is more, less weight, less physical strain , more energy, more creativity:)
Yes you’re right and I should probably take your advice. I’ll let you know how I get on.
Great tips! Thank you - nice video - cool style!
Glad you liked it! Thanks very much Jonathan.
I got the 6L in Sedona orange, not so inconspicuous but i enjoy the colour of it 😅
Great - they’re such good bags. Almost perfect.
would love your pre-shoot playlist!

Ah yeah. That comes with age - not experience, my friend! Mistakes like that come more and more frequently. Thanks James.

Thanks Gemma - not so many pegs but stuffed in nooks and crannies.

Thanks John - yep great little (and big) bags. Stylish too.

Good point and many thanks for the tip.
And they’re probably more robust than the packages that hold the “packing” versions - thanks for that.

Actually its a Goldilocks bag.
It’s true.

@@powelw Yeah that was an early one and I realised too late. Apologies. Thanks for the feedback.
