    I know this is a couple years old, but look how relevant your video is, as I really enjoyed this. Your demeanor and presentation is so perfect. I imagine this lends to a better vision of the world resulting in more meaningful images. Thank you.

    You don't really need a bag, do you? Just some large pockets 😉. I tend to use my X100T which has survived a few showers and keeps working ( I do try to protect it. though) I really don't take anything else apart the the basics like lens cloths, wipes snacks etc. I don't vlog so no need for a bag usually although I do take one if the weather looks iffy for a waterproof and Manfrotto Pixie. Looking forward to the next F8 mag, got them all so far. Started for my daughter originally but I get more from them than she does.

    My choice for street photography bags are Think Tank Messenger bags, of which I have several in different sizes depending on how much gear I plan to carry. My only issue with your 'fill up' of the Peak Design bag, and the camera attached to your wrist, is that I never leave home with a bag that doesn't hold all my gear. There needs to be space in the bag for the camera in case there are security issues, or inclement weather, or to just have your hands free for street vendor lunch.

    For street and bike riding photography, I use my lowepro messager sling bag for a g9, 7-14, 12-60, and 100-300. I even throw in a few primes if I am going to be out at night (sigma 56 1.4, lumix 25mm 1.7, or a 12mm 2.0), and leave out the 100-300 then.

    Good video Gareth. In answer to your questions, i use a padded camera insert thingy from Neewer that I can put inside any bag so I'm stealthy. I have a bushcraft messenger bag that I pop the insert inside. It holds a Mirrorless body, a couple of small lenses and spare batteries, blow brush and polariser filter. Editing on the move if I'm shooting for me, I use Lightroom mobile on my Sony Xperia 1 phone and a Friendly Swede stylus and I can do a lot with it. I take a battery bank to charge my phone during editing on the train or in a cafe. After my last shoot in London I managed to edit all the images I wanted and order my prints on the return journey from London back to Leeds. So it's a system that works for me. I even posted a blog with some photos from the day. For me that project is done and I get to move onto the next. I am considering a tablet though. Looking at either the iPad air with apple pencil or the galaxy tab s7+ which comes with the s pen. Have you had a go with either of them by any chance for photo editing? I have my MacBook for client work or editing my raw files on my return home should I want to get absolute best quality. (or for client images). Regards. Neil.

    I have had a small Vanguard bag for ten years or more it just holds one heavy camera and a short zoom that's all I need. I dread to say it but sometimes instead of that it's a plastic shopping bag when it's raining but I only do street photography when the Mrs is spending my money in town! You have a nice kit there and you certainly know how to get results with it. Thanks for the tips.

    Peak Design 10L sling is perfect for me. One body with three lenses, room for batteries, cards, filters and stuff. I tend to just carry one body with two lenses (one attached and one loose) plus some space for EDC stuff.

    Get a Fuji EF x20 flash perfect for street work. Pair it with the tiny flashQ triggers and the whole thing takes up about half the space of a snickers bar!!

    I do have the peak designed 6 l sling bag, and also use it when I am with my kids I take my GoPro Max, turn the Horizon level on and use the GoPro clip onto the bag strap on my chest and that works amazing cuz I don't have to wear any other accessory for the GoPro and the Horizon level makes sure that everything is straight.

    I also use the PD Sling 6L if I want to go minimal and lightweight or my Wandrd Prvke 21L if I need more lenses. Usually I pack my X-Pro3 and XF35mm f2 or f1.4 depending on the weather. If I‘m feeling experimental I also pack my Xf16mm f2.8. I do like sitting in a café, having a cappuccino and reviewing my images on my iphone. My editing is fairly easy, applying my custom presets in LR Mobile or the Cinestill presets by Jamie Windsor, adding white borders and I‘m done and can be done in seconds from my phone. I‘m thinking about getting an ipad mini, but to be honest it would just be an additional cost, distraction and weight.

    I use the Peak Design 6L sling, and love mine. I usually carry my XPro 3 with 35mm f2 attached, with the 16mm f2.8, 50mm f2 and 90mm f2 in the bag. And still room for my kindle, batteries etc.

    • @annakell5245
      @annakell5245 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bosiefoobar Hi, the 35mm is my preferred default. On a day out I find I use the 16mm regularly, but does depend on the environment I’m in. The 90mm I might use a couple of times, and the 50mm hardly at all, but I like to have it for when I do, as it’s so small to carry.

    Think Tank Retrospective 5 with 2 food bars, 1.5L water, notebook, pen, X100V with hood and WCL in its little bag, X pro3 with 1.4/35, Peak Deign Cuff, 3 batteries extra, good shoes and weather appropriate clothes. 5-7 hours on the streets. Thumb grips on both cameras.

    I’ve got the Peak Design 6L, great bag but I sometimes struggle, more so in Summer as I have medication, Chocolate and Dextrose tablets and syrup as I’m Diabetic so if I don’t have a jacket on everything has to go in the bag. I got the XT-3 after some recommendations on your Facebook group but not sure I’m happy with it, may go to Sony or Nikon or even just to the XT-4 but I’ll wait now until next year as I know the new Sony is coming out so hoping the A7iii drops in price as I’m on a seriously tight budget or even the Z6 that I was looking at before.
    I remember how gutted you were when you dropped the X100v, I would have been exactly the same.

    And yesterday I used them all riding through Cologne to photograph a crane removing scaffolding from out cathederal. I needed the 7mm to get the whole crane (the largest self driving crane in the world), and the 300mm to photograph where it had removed the scaffolding (150m up) and 25mm for the people in the crowd watching.

    I just sold my Peak design 6ltr and got the think tank retro V7 . I found the peak design just a bit too small as I like to carry a couple small bottles of water . The Retro V7 has just that bit more room and if I wanted to take two cameras for a full day in London I could slip my Z7 in with a couple of lenses too .

    Shoulder bag.
    What was wrong with your X100V? Like you, I had to send mine in last year, to get the sensor cleaned after a few weeks of use as it had a ‘blob’ showing when using the EVF.
    I also suffer from the occasional corrupted file too...
    Nice bag...
    Can we please have another way of getting our images in the mag without the need to use Facebook or Instagram...
    Sold my XF10 and am awaiting the arrival of a GRIIIx... 40mm equivalent lens.
    Before the pandemic, I would occasionally edit my street images on my iPad Pro for posting up too Flickr but I've not been in a pub or cafe since 2020... I normally just use Snapseed for quick edits.

    10:19 I absolutely disagree! I shot a climate protest some weeks ago (fast movements from both the subjects and me) with the X-Pro3 and XF35mm f1.4 and the only time the lens missed focus was when I focused on the wrong part/subject already. This is a fantastic lens! I have a two POV videos from said protest on my channel where you see the photos and how I took them and this lens is PURE MAGIC even at f1.4!

    With the Vangard Gareth, is the amount of top section space fixed or can you mess about with the dividers if say you're not carrying as much camera stuff but need a bit more room for coat?

    I had a peek design cuff & I left it my on my 2 week old Fuji XT-2 as it came onto rain in buckets. When I got home the adjuster for the cuff is metal & it had put a great scratch on the Fuji screen. Put me off them for life. Peek design told me you should not leave the cuff on the camera in a camera bag. Great so you have unclip every time.
    Vanguard make great bags, but they are heavy empty. We are all guilty of bringing toooooooo.... much gear.

    • @GarethDanks
      @GarethDanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah id heard that about the cuff.. matter of time for me.. tho i always have a screen protector on.. my vanguards very light.. damn good bags!

      I always buy screen protectors for my cameras for that possibility. The cuff and leash are perfect size for Fuji's. Didn't get on with the PD slings.

    • @reeciep
      @reeciep 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have a cuff and then realised the same might happen so was constantly removing it which became a pita. In the end I got a paracord cuff with a peak design clip on it. No metal, more comfortable and a lot cheaper than the Peak Design version.
