I have the Pixel 8 and 9 side-by-side and it's so hard to see any true difference at all. The screenshot app and I think the weather AI summary is the only two things I've seen "exclusive" to the 9 so far. The performance between the two seems identical. Also I know the 9 is supposedly brighter but I would complain that the automatic brightness often goes too low for my taste on the 9.
You think Google would invest more in producing a great camera overall considering its CPU is lagging behind other competitors. Unfortunately not. Experiencing a slight lag when changing camera modes doesn't really bother me but what does is the stuttering when changing lens and the inconsistent focus quality. The stabilization is also decent but not good.

After 24 years of because a devout apple customer I'm done. Not prepared to pay the insane hiked prices any more. Base macbook models only haybing 8gb is a total joke. I purchased a 128 GB Pixel 9 today, from Mint Mobile, for $399; my 128 GB iPhone SE3 has 72 videos, 542 photos, 81 applications and 66.77 GB of available space 🤷I paid $429 for the SE3 and that is all that I'm trying to replace. I have declared a "holy war" on spending $1000 on a phone; that's just not an option anymore!
Hi Sam, as a fellow Aussie I'd love to get an idea of whether the reception of the Pixel 9 is better than previous versions, particularly in more iffy areas out of the city. I used to own a Pixel 7 and felt it was a bit step backwards, and ended up selling it and going back to my 4A5G which was noticeably better. Any advice you have on this side of the phone would be awesome, cheers!
Hearing a lot of people are experiencing the same scrolling stutter and lag that the 8 had. I would love one but worried about that issue as it's the reason I got rid of my P8.
I disagree about the power and volume buttons being better on opposite sides of the phone. My last phone was an Oppo and the amount of times i have either muted the phone or taken a screenshot by mistake because of this layout is unbelievable. The problem is that when you try to push in the buttons on one side with your thumb you are squeezing the other side with your fingers and end up pressing two buttons at once.
The rule with Pixel phones is you never buy a Pixel at launch unless there is a wild trade-in deal. they ALWAYS drop significantly in price a few months after launch. But I would take the design, 7yrs of updates & the software over OP & Samsung any day, not that the software matters because I personally use GrapheneOS which is Pixel-only regardless.
I traded in a phone I purchased for $200 unlocked and they gave me $525 for it at best buy so the Pixel 9 only cost me $300 out of pocket or $500 if you count the $200 for the device I traded in
For me irritating stuff is the Google search bar and the at a glance widget are not removable. Hope they won't make all their apps to appear on home page and make them fixed and non removable

Looking forward to your Pro review. I’m looking to get away from iPhone (I can’t deal with this keyboard). Pixels are usually my go-to, but not at this pricing. If they slapped a snapdragon in there I’d be ok with it.
I've always been a galaxy user but was thinking about switching to the pixel pro but for the same reason you've mentioned I might just end up sticking with the Galaxy ultra cos of the snapdragon processor. Would 100% get the pixel pro if it had this
He said them in the video. In terms of performance it's almost identical to last year's Google pixel 8. Connectivity issues coming from a Google 9 user it's way better 👌
I really appreciate the discussion about the stock launcher's lack of customizeability and the issues with third-party launchers. To me those two issues combined are a big downside to Pixel.
Sam! I updated the IOS on my phone and now the background I setup with dark and light mode switching is broken. I think we need an update guide from you on this!
I'm waiting till Pixel 10 to buy one as my secondary phone. Currently main phone is S24. I want to wait for next gen of tensor chip to be made by TSMC instead of Samsung, that would bring tons of improvement.

@@mdc123-v2vGoogle is definitely ahead in terms of AI. Even once Apple intelligence fully launches. And Google is literally adding features and improving every week.
Great video brotha! You literally just convinced me to wait until Black Friday to get my Pixel 9 Pro 👍🏽
Extra props for the aspect ratio of your videos!! 📷
I must be the only person to find the fingerprint sensor much worse on the Pixel 9 Pro vs my Pixel 8 pro...🤔🤔
Love your review.. and I love the Keff speakers 🔊 😊
Your video quality is still one of the best out there. Keep it up !
I work for a phone company and was able to order the pixel 9 for €360 which is a steal for me. I’m so excited to try it out as a year long apple user
I’m still waiting for my pre order normal 9 pro to come in the UK 😂😂 can’t believe I’m waiting 1 month now.
Dude me too here in germany im waiting till 7. October.. rip
I was in the same boat, i ended up just buying from a local store that had the phone and cancelled my pre-order since it wasn't shipped yet (got from bestbuy they gave me more money for my cracked pixel 6 then the google store website and $200 bestbuy gift card)
Wait is definitely worth it
As of september 21, anyone have Mint mobile can get the pixel 9 for just $400, and pro xl for $700. Its insane
Always enjoy watching your videos 😊
Nr.1underrated perk is that the sim card snaps & sticks to the tray so it doesn't fall
I have the Pixel 8 and 9 side-by-side and it's so hard to see any true difference at all. The screenshot app and I think the weather AI summary is the only two things I've seen "exclusive" to the 9 so far. The performance between the two seems identical. Also I know the 9 is supposedly brighter but I would complain that the automatic brightness often goes too low for my taste on the 9.
a good review indeed.
with references to other phones and long term concerns/outlook.
it shows how the actual phone one should buy is the 9 Pro with at least 256 GB, and the 9 with 128 GB is the sacrifice, if the budget is limited.
About a week I will treat myself with a pixel 9 from a redmi note 10 pro wich is gonna be a really big jump lmao I know but i'm fed up with miui and I just want stock android
Anyone else hope they keep the matte back with gloasy side rails? Im loving the feel of this phone. Better than my iPhone 15 Pro max.
I'm a fan of this Pixel launcher. This coming from a fully customized Samsung deice with the Pro versin of Nove Launcher.
OMG THANKS FOR MAKING YOUR VIDEO ULTRA WIDE
Hey bro! Just t keep the video size the same in your upcoming videos because it fits the screen. I appreciate your hard work, love from Pakistan 🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰
I am just now switching my pixel 5 for a 9 pro (when i get it on the 2nd) I am sad the didn't keep the fingerprint on the back, but oh whale. I am excited:)
Sent my iPhone 16 back for a 16 pro because i cant do 60hz, especially not for $900. Then i saw a deal for pixel 9 for $650 and sent back the 16 pro as i dont want to spend $1100 on a bloody phone. After 24 years of because a devout apple customer I'm done. Not prepared to pay the insane hiked prices any more. Base macbook models only haybing 8gb is a total joke. Stock android is a delight and apple ecosystem is not worth the price difference for me. Have bought a 16gb chromebook and now i have linux for dev work and its just such a great expeience. Love it.
I feel the same for this phone so far this year!
You can remove @ a glance it's in launcher settings though it's not easy to find lol.
I use my phone in left hand .. I'd love if the power ans volume were on the left. Great review and video
Had any juddery/laggy scrolling issues like on the pixel 8 line up?
Hi Sam, as a fellow Aussie I'd love to get an idea of whether the reception of the Pixel 9 is better than previous versions, particularly in more iffy areas out of the city. I used to own a Pixel 7 and felt it was a bit step backwards, and ended up selling it and going back to my 4A5G which was noticeably better. Any advice you have on this side of the phone would be awesome, cheers!
It is so overpriced compared to other flagships. If Google sells it as a mid ranger, it may have more sales.
How are you using double tap to lock the screen where is that option available?? Your reply is highly appreciated
If you dock the phone horizontally, all the buttons on the right side makes sense.
Do you know when the 9 pro will come out? There is a darte here in Australia? Or is it still later spring?
Do you think it's worth upgrading from the 7 pro? Pictures and video is a big one for me. Is it still noisy at night time for video?
But I would take the design, 7yrs of updates & the software over OP & Samsung any day, not that the software matters because I personally use GrapheneOS which is Pixel-only regardless.
who's rule is that?
I traded in a phone I purchased for $200 unlocked and they gave me $525 for it at best buy so the Pixel 9 only cost me $300 out of pocket or $500 if you count the $200 for the device I traded in
For me irritating stuff is the Google search bar and the at a glance widget are not removable. Hope they won't make all their apps to appear on home page and make them fixed and non removable
My Go-to pixel reviewer…
Agree, the 6-7 had a great price, google got greedy again making it priced as a premium phone so it's a harder to go for pixel 9 over the competition
The power and volume rocker is better on the right side
Just got the pixel 9
Came from s22 Ultra
I like it, allot.. but it's very heavy for a small compact phone.
Would have preferred the s24 due to it's weight. As well the pixel series have a bunch of features most people won't use
Unless Google drops the weight of future phones I'll probably return to Samsung
For now I'm happy
Battery life is GOOD
Nice video as alway, i just wished they price the Pixel 9 at a lower price point. then go 999 for the Pro. they could've sold more i think with that price point
S24 Ultra or Pixel 9 Regular? Which is better for camera? Shutter lag etc?
a discounted price would be awesome but im afraid if they discount the phone they will greatly decrease the trade in values.
Pure Android enjoyment with the Pixel 9 💯🔥💯
Bro I'm so confused whether to buy pixel 9 pro .My daily phone is nothing 2 ,and I struggle to play e-football, the only game that I play on mobile because of poor optimization .Can you make a Vedio on gameplay on pixel for e-football.😢😢
Awesome video , audio got so much trouble need bass
At the deal breaker part, were you talking about the regular Pixel or the pro models?
Just the regular
@@sambeckman What would your deal breaker be for the 9 Pro XL?
I ordered the Pro basically because they gave me nearly 500 dollars for my Pixel 8...plus I'll always have a case on it so the side rails wont be an issue.
Would 100% get the pixel pro if it had this
About the 128gb or 256gb storage. The google pixel line has unlimited storage via the google photos app
Not anymore it doesn't. That was only the early Pixel devices.
Can't wait to replace my 6a with the 9a👍
What the hell are you guys are you guys recording? it takes effort for me to fill a 128GB device.
I recently got pixel 9 but when every time i unlock to open home screen i see some light rolling up, is that glitch? How to solve it?
Great video. Appreciate the 21:9 ratio
6:10 that was the most American sounding "experience" lol
I just ordered it for US$ 399 on Mint mobile... can't wait
what about heating issues? modem connectivity? still issues?
He said them in the video. In terms of performance it's almost identical to last year's Google pixel 8. Connectivity issues coming from a Google 9 user it's way better 👌
I really appreciate the discussion about the stock launcher's lack of customizeability and the issues with third-party launchers. To me those two issues combined are a big downside to Pixel.
Got pixel 9 in australia last week brand new for $625aud (411usd) and im so happy with it
Sam! I updated the IOS on my phone and now the background I setup with dark and light mode switching is broken.
I think we need an update guide from you on this!
Yep, once I get my iPhone 16 Pro, I'll start testing straight away and I'll have something ready for hopefully October 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Does it overheat? Because my 7 pro overheats as soon as I step outside in 25c+ temperatures
Gosh, I wish they'd allow for third party launchers...
Hate not being able to hide apps and make my launcher more organised 😅
It's surprising that camera hole punch of pixel 9 is almost similar in size to redmi 12 budget phone 🙂
I'm waiting till Pixel 10 to buy one as my secondary phone. Currently main phone is S24.
I want to wait for next gen of tensor chip to be made by TSMC instead of Samsung, that would bring tons of improvement.
Feel like the comparison between "fluidity" between 3rd party/1st party launchers is such a huge nitpick since there's barely any difference at all. Pixel 9 prices on Swappa are already half MSRP
Samsung s23 ultra vs moto edge 50 ultra vs pixel 9 which is best ?
How it can be almost perfect with the slow memory and the flickering screen?
