While you see it as a failure, this gave me exactly what I needed to NOT do this, and to order a proper aftermarket bumper. TY for sharing this!

Jason, you're welcome. I was new to Jeep ownership and I had to find out the hard way. However, it was fun exploring the Jeep.

I'm not really sure why you would think that the OEM steel bumper would be underneath the plastic cover. The option for the steel bumper is $1000CAD. Why would Jeep give you an OEM steel bumper for nothing?
Are there better steel bumpers, better skid plates etc ...? Yes. But they will run you more than $1000. Go check out collisions between JT's with the OEM steel bumper and other vehicles. This "chincy" steel bumper does the job it needs to do.

Because others mentioned it. First Jeep. No biggie. It’s just a learning moment.

Be sure to seal up the rear around those fog lights or upgrade to plug n play led for non rubicon models... youd be surprised to see how much thin dusty mud enters the chambers behind the covers and onto the back of the fog lights connections.. black gasket silicone works fine if ya gonna keep the oem on..😮

The "three-piece bumper" is what you was thinking of and you don't have that..
Neither does anyone else that has the standard bumper and cover..
Nonetheless it's a good video because you made a good tutorial on how to take one off without breaking it

My Jeep was hit by a car going 60mph and pushed 1/2 way through the car in front of me and my OEM steel bumpers held up incredibly well.

Steel bumper option is limited to the Rubicon trim. Sorry you went through this and you're disappointed. The Mojave is a great trim level though and the process for changing out the entire bumper with an aftermarket one is easier than what you went through in this video. If you just like the factory look, the factory steel bumper will fit, if you find one used for cheap. Or you can buy it new for $$$

    • @jeepers7688

Thank you! I was hoping it was a quick swap BUT I’ll save my money and get an aftermarket one. I’ll also put on a winch. I appreciate you kind words.

Yeah…I’ve got the same Rig…no 3-piece bumper. I just wanted to take the ends off and create a stubby. No soup!

You can remove the whole bumper. Remove your frontal skid plate (s) before removing the frontal bumper. Then, you can see the back to removing your bumper bolts. Remember, you need to remove your wire harnesses from the fog lights 💡 to installing the fog lights to your new bumper.

There’s a OEM replica bumper on eBay and Amazon that’s identical to the metal rubicon one and it’s comes with the winch plate and has a lot of good reviews and honestly can’t tell the difference from factory and the replica. Try that out .

Yeah definitely. I unfortunately saw people saying they had a steel bumper under the plastic. Which, was either a lie or something else. Our Rubicon and Mojave didn’t come with them. It’s okay.

@@jeepers7688 Sorry dude. Reminds me of the people that said that you can drill a hole in the bottom of your new iPhone for an old school headphone jack... The good news is that the new JL/JT plastic bumpers do have more metal in them than the old JK bumpers, but yes, the MOPAR steel bumper is a completely different assembly.

What is the offset of your rims and are you stock height

    • @jeepers7688
      @jeepers7688  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rims are Black Rhino Abrams. They are 17" x 9.5" and Bolt Pattern: 5 x 5-inch (5 x 127mm)
Offset: -18mm ; Backspacing: 4.54-inches. They are a sold rim and are a great looking wheel. I am running stock height. I do not plan to do any modifications to the Mojave's stock suspension that would increase height. I may do some upgrades to beef up some components. Thanks for asking. Check out our Instagram. instagram.com/JoyFulJeeps. I'll do some posts there as well as here about our builds. Please subscribe to this channel so you can get more updates.
