Their Fantasie by Schubert is outstanding. Schubert composed the music in the same year he died. You can hear his vulnerability , despair, unanswered love......the 8-bar ending is heartbreaking.
For me, this is an introduction to the Jussen Brother’s masterful artistry of piano performance. This moves me as a pianist who’s recently relocated to a different region of the US at age 45, not currently having a partner for duo piano pieces, as I have all my life in Atlanta, GA. it moves me because, I have a younger brother- of whom I have not been able to reach him, see him or speak with him in over 3 years. While Tim isn’t a trained musician, he is very musically-able. If he’d truly dedicated himself to this- finest art and universal language, he would have and still could become a very talented pianist. For reasons I honestly have forgotten - he and I rarely got on well as children and far worse during adolescence- the only times I remember not arguing- were sitting next to each other, he taking an interest In some recital piece (for example. Chopin’s Raindrop prelude- he was taken by the delicate but constant repetitive note, emulating the sound of raindrops, in the form of 16th notes…lol. I still love that prelude. It is as beautiful as any piece penned by Chopin, from the Minute Valse to the Revolutionary Etude- and all the Polonaises- Raindrop remains ever-present in my musical memory. Because of obv beauty of the music - and bc of that time he chose to sit down, breath a few moments, and let me show him the simple repetition sequences of 16th note raindrops, which I then rearranged the piece slightly to allow for my brother to play secondo at that 10th grade piano recital. Tim and I had wildly dif priorities then, and now. But watching these brothers share - with eachother, and the audiences at large; their mastery of artistic performance on piano- hearing and seeing their ‘calls and responses’ inside musical phrases with all three beautiful musical pieces - along with the finest example of heavenly duo piano performance, out of two separate individuals, they are able to have their beautiful, 88 key instruments act as the seamless bonding agent, so flawlessly it brings tears of Joy, and of envy to my eyes. We don’t tend to truly appreciate the less obvious, “granted” gifts that occur in life. Changing that - ending my habits of taking thing for granted- has been a personal life struggle and limitless goal of mine. I know Tim won’t likely run across this video; but I wish I could find a way to reach him- and share this with him. Maybe witnessing these brothers - who seem to be closer than brothers, but best friends and kindred spirits interact, share their life, their art, their appreciation for each other so perfectly and beautifully as is so clearly evident and heart warming in this video.
@@c.j.mitchellenterprises2235 Chopins nocturne in Bbmin is stunning also. Really beautiful. The Fantasia is one of my favourite duets, wish I had someone to play it with. I'm impressed with their Mozart. They thoroughly inhabit his energy, charm and elegance, his youthful beauty, for obvious reasons. And then there's the Schubert who follows, followed him in every way. So must tears.
