Dutchman Willy Mosselman made some incredible turbo kits for Benzes. I remember reading an interview with him in a Dutch car magazine (Autovisie). His filosophy was to keep the compression ratio high and use low turbo pressure. This way the efficiency of the engine was good at the whole rev range and turbo lag was also not an issue. It was a totally different filosophy than what was common back in the 80s.
It's incredible how many classic Mercedes this guy has and parts at his disposal. I didn't want this episode to end. Fantastic video Johnny, you never fail to deliver.
One of my all-time favorite episodes. What an amazing collection. And it's great hearing the stories about him chasing all the special parts. Sometimes that's the most fun part.
Thank you. Glad to have you along to view. The thumbnail cannot do this garage stash enough justice, frustratingly. 4 sheds of retro tuned pornography.
It's not often I'm motivated to watch a video twice, but will watch again on the big screen to take in the full vista of Neville's awesome setup and cars, just a great show 'n' tell video and incredibly informative with it too
Brilliant, great collection.I had a R plate C36 when I was 21, about 16 years ago. Loved it. Was slower than my e36 328i sport but it was such a cool car.
What a absolutely brilliant collection of cars Neville, Such a knowledgeable person and all the better that your behind the camera. What an episode. Thank you for sharing it.
This is the second of these videos I have watched of Nev's car collection. He sounds like an awesome guy and down to earth. Did I mention that I love his Merc collection?
Love seeing the old American stuff in the UK. Upon being discharged from the army in 69 during the Vietnam era my father bought a 1970 Firebird Formula 400 (Trans Am without the disco) with a 4-speed and all manner of go-fast goodies. I came along in 73 and that was our family car until 80. He bought another Formula in 87, which for the then thirteen year old me was the final nail in the car obsession coffin that I have yet to climb out of.
What a amazing collection lucky fella, my favourite is the Ford zodiac loved them as a kid my next door neighbour had 2 of them and he used to let us play in them pretending to drive them great memories cheers Johnny
Wow! What an amazing collection. Cannot wait to see the barn find episode too. Fair play to Nev, that’s a hell of a lot of dedication and determination that has built that collection! All I would have wanted to add would be a sorted BMW E30 M3 and a screaming M5 or 5 series Alpina from the same era. Respect for your car cave sir 🙏🏻👍🏻
As a kid who was in my mid teens in Germany in the mid 80’s all those Mercs are right up my alley. I have some pictures and brochures from a bunch of tuners that were at the 85 Frankfurt Auto show.
Oh, I love my 190E… in fact was out in it today. The ‘Y’ plate 190E is a super early car at production only started in late 1982, obviously LHD as the first UK cars all appear on ‘A’ plates. Only a pity Neville didn’t appear on camera.. however the cars are the stars as always!
First saw the ‘barnfind’ episode on the 500SEC AMG and now this (although I am subscribed): mental what this man has collected. Over the years I am growing more into these Merc’s, but I still remember the Mosselman ones… they were next level. So much respect for this collection as a result of a passion that started at early age … too many influencers ‘collecting’ cars.
I only have one W124, a standard E420 from 1995 with low miles (45,000 km at present) and two owners before me. Rather like Neville's E400 AMG, but totally standard appearance, which makes it quite the sleeper. If you're ever near Paris, you're welcome to take it for a drive. I think you'd like it!
Neville is a true and original collector. I know of a few friends who have brought and sold some gems from him. He’s had some collectors go through him! Some of them now residing with others such as Patina collective who have the gold rally 190 or Benz collector sneek now owning the c126 sgs.
What a wonderful collection and an absolutely brilliant voice over of each car by Neville. Sounds a proper gent. All served up with a light side of Johnny - perfect viewing.
Great video and many thanks to Neville, right up my street as I have a 500E with a 6liter engine I build and soon doing a M119 w201 which I am collecting parts for.
Hi , I have a 500e originally from Germany but now here in California. I am wondering if I can be put in touch with Neville with a view to see if he can help be get some original AMG parts?
Like a kid in a sweet shop 🙂 The Mercs are impressive, but that Zodiac is the most interesting for me. All great, can't wait for the barn-find follow-on!
Mercs have always had that fuddy duddy image for me. Even the pepped up ones. That said, these were the last mercs that were true quality, before the rust prone and dubious quality ones that followed in 2000s, and the common or garden ones sat on pcp in every council st you see nowadays.
I'm born in '85 and my father owned an W123 when I was 10, and now for some years, an W126. I love these old school cars along some american muscle cars, because I grew with them and I always loved the design and the impression who gaved to me when I was a kid. Congrats to owner for this very nice collection.
Neville, as a Mercedes-Benz owner-driver I must compliment you on your beautiful M-B collection. Also, I drive at the Mercedes-Benz AMG Racing Academy, so, as you know, AMGs are rocket ships on wheels. :) I also have to thank you for bringing back a fun memory for me--the angle shift. I had one in my C230 Kompressor. I've always driven cars manually (clutch or no clutch for better control--and more fun). M-B went to the touch then paddle shift, which is obviously more efficient, yet the angle shift is still my favorite due to that great mechanical feel. Lastly, I must make one friendly correction: you said you had too many M-Bs so reduced from 40 to 20, yet God's truth is one can never have too many M-Bs :)
What a remarkable collection. Serious shed envy here and a treasure trove of parts too. Last year I had the pleasure of reviewing a very tidy 1990 Ascot Grey 190E 2.0 auto. I can see why these cars commanded a premium back in the day as they feel.way more substantial than most 80's designed cars. In fact I always forget that these go back 40 years and often think of them being more of an early 90's car
Awesome episode Jonny!!!! Could watch you two talking about these for hours upon hours. Absolutely love these episodes like this more than anything. Much appreciated sir!
Awesome Jonny! Reminds me of drooling over Fast Lane and Performance Car magazines as a teenager! these 80's 90's Mercs are hot property right now and deserve the attention.
I've never seen anything like this before. What a collection. The mind boggles at the thought of forty cars like this. Thanks so much for this. I've been looking for something German or Italian and 80's, for a daily driver as I don't do many miles and this has given me a lot of inspiration. For my money, you and Chris Harris are hands down the best motoring presenters around. Basically, I'd watch anything either of you produce. Huge thanks! :)
I'm a recent subscriber and a huge fan of the channel now and have watched so many of your videos in the last month. What a job you have, but what a job you are doing!👍🏻
Love the Mercedes, served my apprenticeship in a Merc main dealer in the late 80’s. Love the AMG conversions, mad conversions always loved the black grills etc sinister but so cool 👍
I always find it fascinating when people collect so many of the same(ish) vehicle, I don't really understand it, but it's fantastic to see the passion and commitment to keeping things going
Love the W124’s. Beautiful. The green Golf reminded me of my black GTI Engineering e I owned in the 90s. Loved that thing! Same body kit too and never saw another one on the road. It had the normal MK2 front lights too
Just starting my Late Brake Show Binge session and what a epic video kick off with, best era of merc for me without w shadow of a doubt. Totally respect that Nev wanted to stay behind the camera but what a epic collection.

Thank you for making this video. Mercedes Benz 190D was the first car, I got to sat in. My uncle had it, originally was a red car, and it was painted silver. It was just lovely, manual transmission, I really love the spare wheel, how they have a plastic sort of tub, which sort of turns and locks up. It had a lovely Pioneer Hi-Fi system, with a remote which would click in on the steering wheel.
Great video. Murdered out Mercs, Love it. Can't help compare them to Jags, I think I prefer these but that just might be because Jags aren't seen much around here. I do hope Neville finds the opportunity to get to Japan and meet those tuners.
Love all these vids. Always enjoyed Jonny Smith since Fifth Gear. Keep up the amazing work, bringing these amazing machines from the past back to life.
What a legend, this collection and his approach to building them out in a creative but curated fashion… I love the balance of maintaining a known aesthetic… but one that is modified and sort of one-off by nature. Amazing.
I'm 90% sure my uncle owned NAK 14M in the late 2000's. He was in North London and had it for sale in his showroom, I remember they had to completely renew the AC system and it had an intermittent ignition issue. Was a GORGEOUS vehicle 😍
Thanks Nev! I respect both your taste and privacy, it’s about the cars after all. The graphics nerd in me also likes all those stickers on the slam panels- they’re something else! Love it all!

More likely the owner is highly dodgy and doesn't want to be seen.
I like the fact that Jonny respects that the owner did not want to be on camera and the video still looks great!
Yes the video still worked very well, I'm glad Nev was happy to talk over the cars while Jonny was on camera. What an incredible collection
Probably a good thing because if I ever saw this dumb shitters Face Id want to slap it for not driving his classics. Clown
he had no other option fucko,
As an owner of a bunch of 80s German cars including a pair of Cosworth‘s, this is one of the most amazing collections I’ve ever seen!❤️
Check out Patina , they are even buying English amg’s
Check out the Patina Collective out of Florida. The rarest of the rare Mercs. Gullwings, Koenig Specials, ABC, BRABUS, Classon, etc
This is why I should have spent my life trying to get rich. Too late now, but hey! I can appreciate this obsessive collection. Seriously impressive.
He’s probably too busy working to have time to drive them
You have to be so rich just to have the space to store them lol.
