I think I'm gonna cry looking at this build. It's everything and more. The dark british racing green paint, the subtle dark brown interior, Those wheelsthe delicious brakes behind it, just everything!
I met Stan at SEMA this year, and he took some to tell me a bit about his car, which is one of my three favorites at SEMA this year. It's fine machine, even up close. I'm currently building one of these, and like Stan, I'm claiming this to be my last project car (time will tell, of course), because custom work on a car with little to no factory or aftermarket support requires custom work for nearly every application. Stan's car waa a breath of fresh air for me, a classic 80's homologation racing special, in a sea of new and over-the-top SEMA projects. While many of the beautiful builds at SEMA won't see the pavement, I can see Stan driving this thing every weekend with his buddies.
I love this era of cars so much! It’s at or near the top for my favorite timer period. You had these simple, small, lightweight, analog cars. The “ultimate” generation for pure “drivers cars”. And around this same time period you had massive tech and engineering advances with the top end cars (Porsche 959, Ferrari F40), and yet those “halo” cars were still “analog” machines.
Give STAN HIS FLOWERS!!! He's been building some of the best cars since the 90's - 00's. His Widebody E36 won so many shows. Nothing but cleanliness and nostalgia in his builds. DTMAUTOHAUS era
FUN FACT: when i first went to Germany in 1982 the W201's were literally the coolest Taxi Cabs ever. true story, my friends and i got shuttled to and from the Hofbrauhaus in Munich in the back of Mercedes 190's which means that chassis is literally 40 years old, yet still looks good doesn't it...?😎 i believe their compact size and the sportiness (since Merc's had never really been small cars) is partly what begat the legendary AMG Hammer circa 1986. while i didn't know it at the time, the engines were getting developed and tested in high speed runs on the Autobahn... for those unaware, the left most lane on the Autobahn (at least back in the early 80's) was literally referred to by Schwabians as the "HAMMER LANE", not sure if modern-day Germans still use this language, but if you couldn't drive, the "fast lane" just outside Stuttgart was NOT were you wanted to just "hang out" like we regularly see here in 'Murica lest you wanted a Mercedes development car (or Whale Tail 930 Porsche) suddenly growing LARGE in your rearview mirror. naturally back then i didn't have the senses or driving skills i do now, but i just recall the CLOSING SPEEDS were bonkers. it was a total mind f*%k to see that people could drive that fast (legally) on a public road.😃 we would be doing 80mph in a Chevy Monte Carlo in one of the center lanes, and they would rocket by and off in the distance like you found REVERSE GEAR, so they were 100 to 120mph easy. while not really that fast on a FIA Homologated race track in the year 2023, that was "Warp Drive" on a highway in the mid 80's...😂 anyway, the redesigned mid-size W124 chassis (300 Saloon and Coupe) later introduced in '84 that the Hammer's were based off of (but gave more room to shoehorn in the V8) mimicked this same updated/modernized styling and suspension taken from the first "Baby Benz" the 190 (ref: the first 5-Link Rear). while the brand has always been fairly successful, these 2 designs (combined with the new laid back grille giving a "sense of speed") were a major turning point for the public perception of Mercedes, and while obviously AMG had tuned a Benz or 2 prior to this point in History (ref: 6.8L Red Pig 1971) heretofore they never really had the LOOK and chassis to match what was going on underneath the hood, but with the arrival of the W201/190 now they did.
My dad lived in Germany for a few years in the early 80’s. He imported cars to the US with the 80’s “grey market” laws of the time. He also imported guns lol. H&K, Glock, Sako, and other European guns that were not really available or common in the US yet. Side note, I’m pretty sure he also imported/exported some other things that I shouldn’t really name on the internet lol. I was born in 85’ and he moved back stateside that same year. When he moved back to the states he brought his euro spec 77’ Porsche 911 with him. Since it’s a euro car it’s basically a narrow body “SC”. Has about 70,000 kilometers on the clock, and every time I look at the temp gauge and see it running at 90 degrees I have to remind myself it’s 90 Celsius lol.
Love it. The color is super slick. I also dig the simple bodyline stripe. The interior is 80's fantastic. And the go bits looks quite "top shelf" .... looks like a good car to make excuses to road trip.
What's crazy about the interior, is to the untrained eye or from someone who doesn't know, it almost looks identical to the factory Evo II interior, it's just different Recaros in the front besides the stock ones and retrimmed from Houndstooth to Pepita and better leather and touches of suede (didn't catch if he said suede or alcantara, I definitely would've went suede). This thing is the epitome of perfection, I always loved these over the E30 M3 and Evos.

All the cars are pretty much holy grail cars restored to perfection. Give them some time and I'm sure they will hit 6 figures one day if not there already. The 190E is on par with the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo. The greatest homologation rally cars ever made.
If I could buy that MB, I would. What a fantastic looking car. The EVO II is my favorite but I can't afford one of thoses. But a 190e with the EVO I wing and those wheels? Perfection!
I nabbed a 2.6 (m103) 5spd manual here in NZ for a couple of grand. In good enough shape to get roadworthy, would love to get it to this sort of spec. They are around for cheap if you hunt for them
Geezuz, what an absolutely stunning build. Great attitude too, he wanted to make sure his build wasn't just a bunch of bolt-ons & actually lived up to the other builder's cars that he showcases in the Toyo booth. The man clearly has "an eye" for this. What a legend.
About interior, front seats were also made by Recaro and this is one of only few cars ever, where front AND rear seats DO MATCH! They have very very similar side profile on the back part, so not sure what the owner ment with: “Fronts didn’t match that well”. They even had the same headrests (too bad they didn’t source it for the build) and similiar center armrest. Nice front seats, but the “full” Sportline seats are very impressive, so there is room for improvement 😝😁👌🏻
All of the W201 seats were made by Recaro, of course only the Sportline and Cosworth cars got front and rear sport seats we more usually associate with Recaro.
Final touch is to colour match the front grille and then your done. Awesome build and such a refreshing change from the so many garden variety muscle cars
I had the 2.5-16 in almandine red brand new in 1992 & to this day one of best looking cars I’ve ever had. It only came in black leather/cloth but I had it re trimmed in cream with burgundy piping from Carat Duchatalet, BBS split rims & I even had the Evo 2 rear spoiler fitted but to be honest it was a big mistake without the full kit it looked wrong & way too big & only lasted on the car for a few days. A good friend of mine bought a genuine 190 Evo 2 some years later for £30,000 ( look at the prices now)& it was not user friendly on English roads, way too low & that front splitter too easily damaged. All these years on I still love the look & such an iconic car.
been watching for really long now. i always love the vids! you always go through the smallest details, really show the cars and its really nice to watch. awesome photos too as always! greetings from sweden
Exactly how i ended up with one. Traded a mint 77 300d for it. Drove mine their from dallas and trailered the 86 190 back from houston. This was almost 2 years ago and although running now, it lacks a couple grand worth to finish it and time. This coming year it will be back on the road.
Merry Christmas Larry….. he just built my dream build. Will be finding as much as possible what he’s done and how he done it. It’s like he built it just for me, right down to the choices of paint and interior. Would like a belter picture of it for my wall as motivation!
Thanks for another Banger Larry! I appreciate you giving guys like me a glimpse in to car culture since I don’t have the time or money to actually participate.
i absolutely love the 190E. like you were saying the parts are impossible to find because MB sent emails to all dealers/warehouses asking for every single part back in the 90s. they didnt want backstock to sit so stopped creating excess parts for the entire MB line of cars at the time.
they are not impossible to find. in fact i can just go to my local dealer and order any merceds part i want. it just cost an arm and a leg. mercedes actually has a classic parts division, just like porsche. that is the real advantage of a mercedes or porsche to any other brand.
stunning build no doubts at all....big respect to such work...but some hydraulic lifts above coilovers would be handy for riding regular streets with reasonable ground clearance...
The e30 M3 is not as rare as this M190e Evo but I think the E30 takes it personality ,but nothing taken away from this car I have never seen one life😢 .
YES!!!!! YOU COVERED THE MYSTERY MERC EVERYBODY IGNORED!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU LARRY, THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, SUPERB CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!! I was so angry this work of art was being ignored. Who races them in the UK? who is JC?

one of the best looking 80s cars right there and he did a great job on it !
This man is the epitome of being humble, and doesnt just give credit where it's due but diverts praise away when Larry gives him shine. A rare dude
I think I'm gonna cry looking at this build. It's everything and more. The dark british racing green paint, the subtle dark brown interior, Those wheelsthe delicious brakes behind it, just everything!
Agreed 💯
E30 M3 & 190 cosworth stroked.. man has taste & class. Stunning car 😎👊👍✌👌

most iconic legendary cars of those time! I love this build! One of my favorite model!
Beautiful....what a DTM era it was😍 that Sierra Cosworth looks hot...the NSX caught my eye too🤤
190e is one of those vehicles that just catches your heart and imagination!
Give STAN HIS FLOWERS!!! He's been building some of the best cars since the 90's - 00's. His Widebody E36 won so many shows. Nothing but cleanliness and nostalgia in his builds. DTMAUTOHAUS era

The e30 looked too low to me, but this 190e looks perfect. Love the interior, wheels, and stance. Looks period correctish.
The e30 is on air suspension and 190 on coilovers. He should have done all coilovers.
One of the best 190E that I have ever seen. Love the rims ❤
This is my new favorite channel on TH-cam. Loving the stories and adventures curated by Larry.
My man was absolutely enticed by Larry chens wisdom in the beginning, love hearing chen be so passionate about these sorts of things.
Geezuz, what an absolutely stunning build. Great attitude too, he wanted to make sure his build wasn't just a bunch of bolt-ons & actually lived up to the other builder's cars that he showcases in the Toyo booth. The man clearly has "an eye" for this. What a legend.
that's my all time dream car, what an incredible build, thank you Larry.
Sending love from the UK for that 190e, nice ride and a great colour choice!
Stan is the #GOAT of pushing our culture forward
This car is so dope and it amazes me most don’t even get it. Thank you Larry. I love your individual taste amigo.
thank you for the peeks at the NSX and Riviera next to that (almost) perfect Benz ❤
Beautiful!
Old Benz, is good Benz!

When SEMA hits I always look forward to what Larry has to show us from that TOYO tent
I love the resurgence of the 190E. Ive always loved them.
Love it. "Everything is Important" mantra for sure. Thank you so much for bringing this to us.
Between this channel and Dino from speed hunters I’m really enjoying all this car features and stories.
Final touch is to colour match the front grille and then your done. Awesome build and such a refreshing change from the so many garden variety muscle cars
Pre-Merger 90's BENZ's are the business! Love it. I have a 95 E320 pillarless Coupe and i am in love with it. Beautiful build, STAN!
Both e30 and 190 are iconic cars, if I was lucky enough to have the choice it would be the 190 for me😍
what a beautiful car my first car was a 1993 190E 2.3 I miss that car
I had the 2.5-16 in almandine red brand new in 1992 & to this day one of best looking cars I’ve ever had. I need a print of this car, I fell in love with it as soon as it was unveiled
Spectacular. Been watching your channel for a long while now, and I stay all the way to the end because I love that music. Keep killing it Larry.

Larry’s content these days are just fire kidd.🔥💯💪🏻
Can't believe I only just recently found Larry's channel. 🙏👌
Thanks for the great documentation of this wonderful culture we call "cars".
Such an underrated machine a buddy of mines owned one and sold it without knowing what he possessed

Recently found out how much i enjoy the body and the auspicious nature of this Mercedes Benz. True to the way of the art which is Das Auto
Love this 190 classic bodies! Old memories my teenage years when I was driving them back in Europe Poland and Germany!
"One of the best chassis ever fitted to a four door saloon -Martin Brundle" -James May
This car is just perfectly crafted 😍😍😍😍 it has all the flavor from DTM just at look at it bring me back in time…
was almost import the 2.5 16V engine back in early 1990 for my 2.3 16v ! had 2 2.3 16V before ( different time ) love them !
i absolutely love the 190E. like you were saying the parts are impossible to find because MB sent emails to all dealers/warehouses asking for every single part back in the 90s. they didnt want backstock to sit so stopped creating excess parts for the entire MB line of cars at the time.

The 190 Benz was my favorite ride in Grand Turismo 5
Absolutely stunning build!!!
Saw this in the background of heaps of Sema videos, such a wicked car!
I love 190E is my Favorite Mercedes the reason I love that car so much is because it racing in DTM and also the rival of the e30 M3.
stunning build no doubts at all....big respect to such work...but some hydraulic lifts above coilovers would be handy for riding regular streets with reasonable ground clearance...
Surprised they didn't get the KW HLS that offers the ride height clearance.
This car hits my sweet spot. What a beauty
The e30 M3 is not as rare as this M190e Evo but I think the E30 takes it personality ,but nothing taken away from this car I have never seen one life😢 .
It's hard to get nice wheels for a 190e other than monobloc wheels, but these are perfect
Fifteen 52 made me some really nice wheels for my S65 powered Evo 1 :-)
I JUST HAVE TO SAY I HAD THE LUXURY OF OWNING BOTH THE 1988 M3 AND THE 1987 190E 2.3-16V.
190 e evos are one of my personal favorite cars ever made and this one tho not my style is amazing ... I appreciate the hounds tooth interior..
YES!!!!! YOU COVERED THE MYSTERY MERC EVERYBODY IGNORED!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU LARRY, THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, SUPERB CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!! I was so angry this work of art was being ignored. Who races them in the UK? who is JC?
I far as i know there were only 2000 cosworths ever built. I've been thrown around as a passenger in the 90's in one.....
Very balanced and perfect amount of power.
But this build must be heaven....

@Abigailrp thanks for the enlightenment!! 🙏
I remember now, my mates car was a 2.5 but 100% a Cosworth.
Your channel is just awesome. Thank you.
“Better than” is subjective… it’s apples & oranges. I will say if I could only afford one I would pick the e30 because I’ve been a bmw fan since the e30’s were introduced.
If I was a wealthy man and money was not a problem I would for sure have both of these in my collection (along with other dream cars lol).
I love that model. When i was young and had e30 325 i raced with 190 evo and tbh 325 won :O
190e evo1 and 2. . . such a dream car
Ibe always loved the look of 190e's
Just about the perfect 190E. The Red RWB one that was built a few years ago is stunning aswell.
Most beautiful car Mercedes ever build imo.
I want one. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Amazing work I love how he keep it classy sick build
I saw this car in person at SEMA and it was *chef kiss*
Dat car is sick! I Luv the color...😎🖤
We need a review of everything in that showroom 💯
100% this over the e30 M3
To me, wow, this thing is amazing. Love it. Wow.
Stan is the man one year I will be there.
Respect Larry and co 👍👌💫
omg what a beaty, happy for the owner!
It's so perfect that the glove box is sagging a little on the left, so 190 haha such a gorgeous car
is the boulevard 190e hotwheels released this year inspired from this car?
Where can I download these wonderful photos? Oh man, I love this gorgeous 190E EVO 1, desperately! It's fantastic!
Dark green dream ❤ Larry thanks 👍
Best car content
M3 & 190E were the main DTM rivals.
Un carrazo chingon un MB de leyenda
The E30 M3 is so expensive these days that the fair comparison would be with the EVO 1, which burns circles around it. The EVO 1 starts at around £70-80k (or at least a couple of years ago it did) and even if they appreciated since, they are an absolute bargain. The EVO 2 were already above £150k at the time I’ve actually had a black 190E with a spoiler. Perhaps the price are different in the US. In any case, the 2.6 is a fantastic car.
Larry, we need a video of this car being taken for a spirited drive. I want to hear it so bad. Cheers
good video
good cars
keep going u deserve views
anyone knows the wheels specs?
I need this guy to finish up my 190e 2.3-16v
The 190 is a gangster
I wonder if we could put an LS engine in a 98 A4🤔
this is such a sexy Merc yikes ... makes me want to go find one and project it lol thanks for the sharing!
I just bought the Hot Wheels Replica they just came out with of his car!
Ah yes. My dream car 🥲
Nice double Chen...
