    Had Databank in 5th grade and remembered storing phone numbers was so damn cool. Got the new one on a Christmas exchange and love the retro look. I have people asking about the watch every time they see it...
    Really wish Casio will make a metal, mineral crystal and true WR version of this watch.

    Nice review. But I never understand people complaining about the dim backlight. I love it. When your eyes have adjusted to the dark, the modern ELs are just too damn bright, whereas these microlights are perfect. I can perfectly see the time in dark with the vintage lights and it doesn't hurt the eyes.

    I remember having this watch i had my black resin one since 1988 and it still works fantastic and I got the metal one in 1990 the this reissue is exactly the same as the one I got from the late 80s but it does not have the wold time feature that the vintage ones have it this review bought back memories of me buying this watch from caldor and Kmart and wearing it and it did bring attention when I wore them back then

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet the metal one is sick. I would love to own a metal version and I hope Casio reissues one.

    Casio have always been a King in the field of the uniquely-looking and geeky-functioning watches for everyone.
    0:17 - Unfortunately, the only available variation of this one here is DBC-611G (gold colorway for 112 USD after the taxes) and I don't have even a single golden tooth to match that watch...
    0:36 - Love the banana-shaped body of the watch.
    2:00 - Lol, this was a hit-or-miss fit... Paraphrasing GOLF abbreviation of the sport (Gentlemen's Only Ladies Forbidden) - Small Wrists Only Giants Forbidden (SWOGF) :D.
    2:25 - Just to add... It depends if you are lefty or righty. For example, I'm righty and my left wrist (where I wear my watches) is a little bit smaller/thinner (6.7 inch) than my right wrist (7.0 inch). This is by nature and not by choice. For ambidextrous people (rare cases), It is in the way you've said it.
    4:07 - Love this little box in the upper left corner that shows you the current mode. It just screams a dummy phone from the 90'. In addition, the ability to see the time while operating the modes is very cool and practical feature.
    6:00 - This is because they've calculated (sounds ironically on the background of the current watch :D) a transition time between the date of production of the watch and its acquisition by the buyer. For example, they put in a 5-years-battery watch an overcharged battery that could last 7 years in order to compensate for the maximum expected time between the manufacturing and purchase of the particular watch. This is CASIO - they calculate, you know :).
    6:36 - Probably one day SEIKO (misaligning bezel) and CASIO (poor light on their bestsellers) will be room mates in hell, but until then, it is classy :) )
    8:10 - Probably it will nip the hairs on the wrist as nothing else :).
    8:34 - It is a great attention to the detail that every language option is written on the corresponding language on the stainless steel back of the watch (for example "Рус" (Cyrillic) for Russian).
    10:06 - So much metal and electronics in one place! If Mr. Schwarzenegger watch this, his next reliable whereabout will be in the closet. Lolz!
    10:04 - This dial-pad reminds me for this one from Tron Legacy (the grid pattern): drive.google.com/file/d/19zrZk8OPJ1YZD5L5meMpb10ZFLBiRBRr/view?usp=sharing
    10:22 - You explain very well the reason why I decided to have this watch.
    Congrats for your review! Always versatile in collecting watches. I like that :)

    Oh yes, this is everything that Casio was always been.....calculators, watches, cheap, good, useful, legendary. They really should add some features like titanium, sapphire, good lume and 200m WR, and put a 500-600 USD price tag, that would be completely unnecessarily, crazy and weird. But that's Casio, they can make whatever they want and people will always buy these things because they know what they are buying. A kings of a 50 USD watches....they made much more 10-50 USD legendary watches than Rolex 10k USD watches. Nothing against Rolex off course but this is really an art. B5000 is larger but screen is the same size (i like that calculator's screen much more), the case is larger just because of protection inside. From all your G's i like that 5610 the most, that's a monster.
    Good job Simucom

    You are correct. I like retro stuff and growing up on mid 80's and early 90 this brings back nostalgia. Ordered mine on ebay for 50 bucks . And one thing that's convinient is now one really knows cell numbers anymore as only saved on cell contacts . In case I dont have cell or need an important number that I want no one to know i have ill save it there. Wonder if you can convert pesos to dollars by calculating it on this? If not its still great. Love the retro/vintage look.

    I got the watch from eBay, it wasn’t turning on, took it to get the battery replaced and it turned one but stopped working after 10 minutes any idea on how to fix this?

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's tricky and it could be various reasons (in which case you might be better off saving your time and money by buying a new one). First things first I would remove the caseback and make sure that the battery is the right size for the watch. It may be too thin, so the watch could have worked for a little bit but lost connection with the contacts. I would also make sure that everything is connected properly.
