Casio's role in the world of horology cannot be overstated. For many of us, before we had the discretionary income to buy luxury watches, Casio was the most accessible watch, and its accessibility is why it is the gateway brand that kindled a greater interest in watches for so many people. The guy or gal who is now wealthy enough to buy a Rolex, Omega or Grand Seiko probably, unless he or she came from privileged means, had their first watch be a Casio.
I’m a pilot and I fly with this exact same watch. It’s one of those watches I don’t care if it gets gouged or scratched up or covered in oil or fuel, yet who’s functionality I greatly appreciate. Nice and light, it doesn’t get in the way, can cop a sweaty cockpit like a champ, and it gets comments more than any other watch I’ve had. One could easily conquer the world with one of these and a BB58…
What I love about the Japanese is they really humble the world of luxury, in many areas, and not just in watch making. They have an uncanny ability to create quality work without having that work cost an arm and a leg.
this was one of my first watches, gifted to me by my uncle and i still own the vintage one today. sadly it is a resin watch and one lug broke 20 years ago. but the module itself is still running fine
this is one of the only retro Casio watches I found that also has a countdown timer, which is super handy! on top of all the other features, and the fact that you have to charge it 0 times per year, it's the best :)
Yaayyyy! I bought one of these just to play around with it and it has been a complete surprise how much enjoyment it brings. It opened my eyes to how much value there is available in a lot of the lower priced watches, even if they don't make it into a permanent collection they can still be a lot of fun
Had one of these for 5 years, bought it on a trip to Thailand, unfortunately it was stolen 4 months ago on a vacation, loved it, fun and useful, will definitely get another one
I own exactly this watch and others in my collection. If I wasn't a collector or an enthusiast I'd probably wear only this watch until it died. It is still my go-to when I have to work across time zones, as I don't own a GMT watch. I don't need a GMT because I have this little Casio.
I love this watch, but the real best feature is the 5 alarms and that they all have settings where you can set them to go off all the time, OR go off once which is really useful if you have a dynamic schedule.
This has been my daily wear for many years now. Never changed the battery, I don’t think I’ve ever adjusted the time. It works, looks fab and if I break or lose it I’m not going to worry about it
Casio cmd-40 TV remote control watch.. The fun I had with this watch.. In a bar in Ireland everyone watching a horse race. I'd switch the telly channel just before the end of the race... By far the best watch ever ever... Or standing outside Currys and turning all the sets off.. Evil bliss..😂
I in had that same watch and did similar antics! Stopping the school video presentations, TV shop windows, tormenting the old man by standing on the stairs and changing the channels! I think he threw it in the bin for revenge!
I have one, and I can confirm they are great. I like the way the numerals look--all the same size instead of that one squished-up one at the left. But for the moment I'm still in love with my OG Timex Ironman.
@@nathanaelsmith3553Mine has a pretty cool story behind it. I bought it on Ebay a couple months ago for about $15. It didn't beep at all, turned out the contact to the beeper was broken off. So I took a pencil, and used my pocket knife to cut off a piece of the metal band around the eraser. I then wedged that piece of metal up under where the contact had been, closed up the watch, and to my absolute shock it worked! The display is also missing some segments, so that's next!
Casio has 5 or 6 watches from the F92W to G Shock models that are contenders for the best watch for the money in the world. No other brands are in the running.
Agree with you, assuming the case is steel and not chrome plated plastic? My first 3 watches were Casio, still have one of them, plus 3 more recent acquisitions- CasiOak, Casio Royale and an A168. The Royale is probably the most similar to this in function but I guess a bit more classier

My first watch nerd phase was digital watches when they first blew up. The ultimate complication was a game. I was eight. Once we went to Hawaii and street vendors in Honolulu would have dozens of different models with all kinds of features. I got one with an am radio and headphone jack that actually worked! Until the battery died after a few days. I think they were imports from Hong Kong.
Try as I might I still haven't found a watch that surpasses my beloved Casio F-91W. I'm wearing it now but I wouldn't know because it's so light and so comfortable. I know it's there when I need it & I know it won't let me down. It's far tougher that I need it to be and it's far more water resistant than Casio claim. Add to that the nostalgic charm that it offers me and I just can't shake it off top spot and believe me I've tried. God tier!
Wow. Ordered mine 2 weeks ago after quite some consideration (with the light grey bezel) and picked it up 3 hours ago. And now this video drops. Chose it for the simplicity yet for its vintage style and somewhat quirkiness. The ‘bigger’ world timer is too crowded for my taste
I had many Timex and Casios. Still do. I feel like they give some of the best value and functionality. I would like the more expensive watches but every time I wear them I get nervous.
Really cool little watch. I wish Casio would reissue it with a metal case, a better bracelet, mineral or sapphire crystal, and 100m wr. Of course, that is just wishful thinking. Great vid
@@kms08711 not compared to a lot of casios, it's made more obvious with the combination of casio metal straps making it look disproportionately large on wrist. I have been looking at this for a while, but I already have the ae1000 and ae1200. I’m surprised he didn’t mention the gold tone version of this as well.
Andrew, the coolest cheap watch was covered on this channel months ago in the form of the Casio F91W. Now you can have a watch with a cool screen, astronomically complex movement and price to match but there's only one that's made the FBI's watchlist and is the preferred bomb detonator for allies and terrorists alike and that's the iconic Casio F91W !
Right now I'm wearing my AE1200. All the functionality of the A500, but at less than half the price. It is The travel watch since unlike the A500 it will go through most airport magnetometers without setting off the alarm. 😊
Greetings from St George Utah, Epic, very well done, Casio, magnificent. What more can you ask a unique design all way around ,I'm a Casio freak 😜 definitely need to add this impressive piece in my collection. Thanks again.. until next time..
I don't know what it is about a cheap but robust Casio, but between this and the AE1200, I've been wearing my digitals more frequently than my analogs!
I have two Casio digital watches: an A500WA and an AE1200 which I think is the best cheap watch. I would've liked the A500WA a lot more if it were sized similarly to the AE1200. As it is, I think it's just too small.
Well those watches reminds me of my G-Shocks and rugged and too busy. This on the other hand is shiny sleek and very very nostalgic. I can’t get that feeling with the Casio Royale
The watch to wear if you're travelling, leave your GMT Master and Sky Dweller at home, wearing them is like having a flashing bulls eye for muggers and thieves.
Nooo! Why did you make this video! I've been waiting for a gold version to appear on eBay for months so I can snap it up for cheap. Now everyone will know about this model lol

I wore a Casio watch through the 1980s. Then I discovered and fell in love with expensive, fragile watches that don’t keep time very well.
that pretty much summed up luxury watches' characters :)))
Well did that folly !
I've liked automatics for a long time but lately I'm honestly getting tired of them.

Great Casio, but the AE 1200 World Timer wins that battle.
agreed.
Still own and use mine
Came here to say this. Best watch ever made.
Came here to same the same too.
Or even the ae1500
I have an F201 WA dual time with different alarm options and I set it in 24 format. It has better screen illumination that the F91 W.
I certainly like my a500, only improvement I wished for is a brushed stainless steel case instead of the chrome look.
