I have three Casio Calulator watches and they are wicked. I was a child at school in the 90s and the coolest kids had the Casio remote control watch, I remember the teacher wheeling in the tv/video and my class mate (with his Casio remote watch) changing the channels rapidly and the whole class laughing, the teacher had to call the tech guy to take a look, best day in school ever. I tried to buy one on ebay but it went over £112 :(

My brother gave me a stainless steel DBC-32 one as a gift quite a few years ago. Unfortunately, water got into it. So, I took it apart, removed the battery, and let it sit in a Ziploc bag with 2 of those desiccant packets that you can get with some electronics. It sat in storage for a long time like this. Out of sheer curiosity, I took it out tonight and popped in a new battery. It's not even the right kind of battery - it takes CR 2025 batteries, but I don't currently have any with me. Instead, I put in a CR 2032 battery since it has the same diameter but is only slightly thicker, and both are 3 volts. Lo and behold, it's working again! These things are indestructible... I'll actually get the right battery for it, but for now, I'm just going to wear it.

I would love to have a Casio Databank again. Mine in school was black with a flat keypad that had both numbers and letters. You could store a series of phone numbers. Admittedly, I used it to help me on multiple choice tests when we went over the test beforehand.

I'm a huge fan of the casio databanks. I had a few DBCs over the years. The feature I loved was the schedule. You could program a reminder message into the calendar and it would scroll across the screen when the alarm sounded. A marker would appear on the week ahead calendar at the top of the screen Its a shame this new line of databanks don't have this feature.

These early videos really showcase all the improvements you have made over the years. The low camera angle, the sound echo, the somewhat monotone voiceover, the random background... It's all gone. You really transformed the channel, to a point i would say it is perfect. Are there still things today you are not satisfied with?

I have a thing about us Modern watch lovers obsession with bracelets built like the forth road bridge.
I much prefer these thinner rolled like bracelets as I find the things people go on about negatively about them are what make them more comfortable. They rattle, that means there is more give so they don’t clamp the wrist like an oyster bracelet ( one reason why I sold my Rolex, never got fully comfortable with it, same with my constellation).
They are light, I find that an advantage for day long wear. They are thin, again, I find that more comfortable and easier when under a cuff.
The thing is, they may feel cheap compared to modern Uber bracelets but your watch was cheap to start with, is ten years old and the bracelet barely shows wear and sounds like the simple clasp still clicks shut nicely, that’s the other peave with modern bracelets, the over engineering of the clasp makes them bulky and I always find I have to keep opening them through the day to get relief and I wear mine loose!
I have some vintage watches from the seventies with these rattley bracelets and they shown very little wear and work perfectly!
Thanks for the great review. I had the basic plastic one back in the eighties!

    • @Northanteus

Yeah, using the calculator watch will help preserve the battery on your smart devices, so it actually does make good sense to have this calculator watch. Then you have the data bank to use, again, not having to kill the battery on your smart devices. So it actually saved you money in the long term. 😉

I have all the Calculator watches you listed except the CA56. I recently got the DBC32, and let me tell you: people are right about those buttons. They are pretty tough to push. Already got a very small nail mark on the + button and my nails are short, too. The watch is awesome, though. Wanted a casual, every day version I can wear outside of work. I wear the DBC611 at work for the steel bracelet which goes well with my dress code.

I *did* have a calculator watch in school back in the mid 1980s, but I was *far* from "cool," and I was not a "nerd" either. 😄 I just liked having access to information on my wrist because when I watched *Inspector Gadget* back then, his daughter would take out her book and do calculation tasks on it, which made me wish that *I* had something like that at *my* disposal. Just like I wanted a Swiss Army Knife back then when I saw MacGyver using one. 😀 Anyway, my watch kept beeping when I would press a button, so I could not cheat with it in math class. 😬😩... 🤣😀
I just ordered the black DBC model that you reviewed in this video, and it should be here within a weeks time. Together with a cheap ABC (Altimeter Barometer Compass + Pedometer and other features) watch: the Skmei 1358, for just $33 on Amazon (in the U.S.). I will likely be getting a Casio ProTrek PRG330 in the future though. Just testing the cheap one first. 😉
Maybe you can do a review on the Skmei 1358? Or Casio PRG330? 😀

I have a Casio Data Bank DBC-30. I replaced the battery and it's working fine. My problem is one of the pins for holding the band to the watch has carved out one of the pinholes enough (the watch case is plastic) that the pin, and therefore the band, won't stay in place when wearing the watch.
Has this happened to you? Any ideas on how to repair it?

When I was a kid it was either this or a timex indeglo watch. Only issue was Sears didn't carry allot of Casios but they did carry timex so it was Timex Indeglo Ironmans we where all drooling over as kids if you liked watches. Funny thing was I didn't even know what an Auto watch was until the late 2000s Everyone owned either Quartz or manual wind watches where I came from.

I had the ca53 and the dbc in the late 80s. I still have the original dbc and just bought the ca53. Just because I had to have it back. Dont know what I did with it.

Meu casio dbc32 caiu e ficou com o vidro e carcaça avariada. Alguém sabe se existem peças de reposição pra ele?
