I'm a prime example of the target market. I wear the dbc32 every day. I work in a surgical unit and the calculator, alarms, and military time are wonderful but the databank is worth its weight in gold. I can't tell you how many times we have scrambled for the numbers of specific doctors, extensions for other units, numbers for OR room phones ect ... I have all that on my wrist now. Every anesthesia provider, every emergency extension number like respiratory therapy or cardiology, and the doctors I work with the most. Plus the main screen format is wonderful when charting. I have the year/month/day and date. This is helpful when charting because you could review charts from months or years ago and honestly some days I'm so tired that it helps to know 100% I'm putting the right month and year on my scanned charts 😂. So all in all it's the perfect watch for me. I got the black model and threw on an after market black stainless bracelet and I'm rocking. Also it's proved to be as waterproof as I will ever need. I've swam, showered and washed my hands daily without issue.
My Casio f-91w helped me a lot when I drove a truck for work. I couldn't be bothered to screw with the time on the shitty truck stereo and I couldn't use my phone while driving so my Casio came in handy a lot of times.
Buddy of mine who works in the same workshop has an old Scientific Calculator watch from Casio, loves it. Does everything from Sin Cos Tan to Pi. Very useful in that kind of environment as it's always available and not easily lost or broken.
In the 80`s people used eraser topped pencils, the buttons were pushed with pencil erasers on top of the pencil. Thats why everyone complains and small buttons. I did it in the 80s.
Yeah, I just bought CA53W and have watched a number of reviews of these watches. So far, none of the reviewers have discovered the fact that the buttons can be pressed with something other than their fingers.
The CA53W-1, (Mine the CA53W) very classy watch, I've had mine for over 26 years and only changed the battery once 5 years ago! And Yes, you are right, this watch can't be exposed to water. I had my first one, exposed it to water many times until the calculator keyboard started falling apart. Then I decided to get my second one, never exposed it to water and it still looks great and works like a charm!
5 years battery under certain conditions. Alarm once a day and 1-hour per day using the calc function. If you don't use or barely use these functions, the battery can last a lot more
I had a Databank in middle and high school. It was black with a flat keyboard, like the silver one you have at the bottom of the thumbnail. I'm planning to order another one next week!
The CA-56, like the CA-53 doesn't have a backlight. I love my CA-53 but want something with a decent backlight, and as much as I love the classic lines of the DBC-611, the individual buttons and strong backlight of the DBC-32 make it hard to resist.
I think these are still useful because if you need a code and since they are very reliable, you can. Sure for the actual telememo it's limited and not great, but for storing codes of something that does a great job at it. This is too bad that they stopped to make these because really these are quite wanted even in 2022. I own 3 calc watches and I have 2 of the ones you have and a CA - 506 which I do like even if it functions exactly the same as the CA 53W I actually wish casio do remade some other models or even better create a new one with all the functions that were established with the old stuff or even do a graphing calc watch. I don't know what people think but I will be their first client for sure :)
I was a teenager in the 1980's. I thought that the Calculator Watch was the coolest thing! I bought an alternative brand other than Casio, at the time. Now at age 50, I purchased a Casio Databank Watch last year. Problem is, it looks cool and has lots of features, but my eyes can't focus on the teeny numbers on the buttons! Even with my glasses on😎
Coolest thing about owning one of these back then was for the first time ever I could directly input the time rather than having to press the same button over and over again only to over shoot the time I wanted.
I know this video is older, but I appreciate it, I've been trying to compare these. I have sausage fingers and a bigger wrist too lol, so this is extra useful.
Prices have really gone up! :( CA-53W: $15.95, now around $23 DBC-32D: $34.95, now around $50 DBC-611: $47.90, now around $60 DB-360: $24.99, now around $40
Received my 611 yesterday and it's lighter and smaller than I remember from the watch I had in the '80s it feels like it's only a few grams in weight or maybe it's because I'm used to wearing heavy 40 to 40,5mm watches... anyway not wat I expected or remembered from back in the day, I should have ordered the 32 looks bigger on the wrist
the ca53w has great water protection i have forgot to take it off in the show and when i go swimming and its fine but i do get a bit of skin irritation from the bands
Simply because I'm a mathematician, the CFX-20 is my favorite, and what I'd call the supreme calculator watch, because no others have been able to do Trigonometric functions while being on my wrist. Engineers agree, scientific calculators are da bomb!
Outstanding! Love these watches. Brings back lots of memories. Thanks for doing the reviews. My last comment (the give away vlog), I actually asked for a review on Casio Calc watches. Cheers, Rob.
Loved it. Yes, we're in Oz. Although, my collection features more high end time pieces like Panerai, Hublot, Vacheron, A. Lange & Sohne (not jewelry like rolex etc.), he's got a good little collection going of Japanese watches. Casio, Citizen, Seiko etc. He has to pay for them himself and he's only 13. It's how I started. Got his eye on a worn Bell & Ross at the local Pawn shop for Xmas. Keeps dropping hints, and I keep telling him to watch his spending! LOL!!
Since you didn't win the last giveaway, I would like to send your son one of these watches if he's interested. As a dad myself, I know how cool it is to have something you and your son can enjoy together(right now my boy is really into poker). I'm just afraid of the shipping costs to the land down under. I think the shipping costs would be worth more than the watch itself...lol. See what he thinks and we can work something out :)
Ok so I will get DBC-32D-1 with resin case. ...Actual name for resin case version is DBC-32-1a. I would like metal version, but metal painted plastic is like cheating to me. And I think that that metal paint can worn out so it will look ugly after that.
Thank you for making an awesome and super informational review! I bought a DBC-611 (gold version), but I didn’t like the weak lum and the flat button pad. I was researching the other three models before I discovered this video, and you helped me settle on the DBC-32D-1. What sold me was the better lum and raised buttons! My dad has always rocked a Databank 150 when I was a kid and thought it was the coolest/nerdiest thing. Also, I subscribed because I like your style of review.
You can use the ca53w-1 in water and also I think that the one with the big screen and a LED light is the best one cuz it has practically the most features and has a bigger display to read all of them and it also looks than nice's in my opinion
I have (and wear regularly) the Casio DBC-611-G (the gold model) and the case is most definitely metal, not resin. I would've assumed the silver model would be metal too, but perhaps it's a cheaper version. The next I get will be the CA-53..... for nostalgia reasons.
The best watch ever, was the *DBX-100* (very similar to DBC611-1), but with full *dot matrix display* (aprox 1988-1992). But this watch had a "bug", a weak point.. and this is the reason, as i believe, why CASIO never attempted to built such a great watch again. I still have it.. it wasn't "dead" but it's keys melted and this is the reason why i abandoned it.
Hey! I wanna ask something about metal bracelets on watches. Which wrist size I can't use these type watches? I really like that metal thing, but my hand and wrist is really big, I think... What size is the biggest in this metal category? What your size? Thank you!
The bracelets can take quite big wrists, I think. I have slim wrists and had to remove 5 links from my Casio DBC-32D-1 bracelet. Of course the watches are pretty small and the calculator buttons are tiny, so if you have big fingers, it might be a bit tricky to use the buttons, although you have to press them with your finger nail anyway, even if you have smaller fingers.
Great video, Maverick. Thx! I’ve been looking to get a simple, low cost sporty digital watch for myself and my nine year old son. He swims a lot so I’d want to find something he can go underwater with. Any suggestions? Hey...that would be a helpful video! Sporty digital watch recommendations for kids. Haha Cheers👍
Casio AE12WH-1A would be my choice. 100m water resistant with a resin strap. Casio W800H-1AV could work as well. A little smaller for your 9 y/o but you lose the cool little world map. 39.5mm vs 37mm diameter. Both under $15.
Can anyone help me understand the difference between the DBC32-1A vs DBC-32-1AES models? I don't know if they have any actual internal differences like water resistance or if it's just a difference to show manufacturing runs.
The silver stainless band is DBC32-1ADF and the Black resin one is DBC-32-1AES. Basically the same watch, since I have both. Both has no water resistance ever mentioned on any official casio records, but I've been through heavy rain with the resin one and it survived (its under my jacket's sleeve). But after replacing the battery, it does have the rubber seal and all. if you considering one, I would suggest get the resin one. Its black plastic, no paint to scratch off. If the band fails, its 22mm lug, I put mine on a nato strap and doesn't look odd.
The ca 53w-1 is NOT in the Back to the Future movie... thats the ca 50 lithium version and goes for couple of 100 bucks on ebay! The ca 53w-1 is a chinese crap watch and the japanese original ca 53w is in BTTF 2
With Casio watches that come with metal bracelets, the bracelets can be replaced with standard ones. With Casio watches that come with rubber straps only some of them can be replaced with standard ones. Resin/rubber straps are the weak link in any brand of watches. They crack and break within long before the first battery dies, and the proprietary straps cost +$10. I stopped buying watches that won't take a standard bracelet/strap without looking mis-matched. I think folded link bracelets of any design fit poorly and are uncomfortable; I prefer high quality stainless expansion bracelets. Personally as a calculator I prefer the CA56 series best. I have had a series of databank watches, but frankly, the data feature is questionable since EVERY cellphone I've ever had has had a better data feature. I don't care about battery life as I can replace any watch battery in 5 minutes. Water resistance is important to me; 3bar/ATM models aren't sweat resistant. What I now wear daily are Casio ana-digi alarm watches, most (effectively) non-illuminated, with 50M-100M ratings and standard design straps. When their original straps/bracelets fail, they get $4 silicone straps made for smart watches or one of my 30-year-old Spiedel Twist-o-flex bracelets.,

all that fits into 25 memory slots??
Cool review. I want one now

I buyed this Model a few days ago from a guy that didn't knew how much it was worth. Saved me a couple hundred bucks. I love it
Grew up wearing Casio calculator watch. As a kid in late 80s/ early 90s, they were the coolest thing to own
In the 80`s people used eraser topped pencils, the buttons were pushed with pencil erasers on top of the pencil. Thats why everyone complains and small buttons. I did it in the 80s.

In the video he said it has a 5 year battery and you got 21 years from a single battery?
I was wondering if he had installed a miniature nuclear reactor brought back from the future in his.
5 years battery under certain conditions. Alarm once a day and 1-hour per day using the calc function. If you don't use or barely use these functions, the battery can last a lot more

I don't know what people think but I will be their first client for sure :)
The cfx-40 was a full function scientific model in the same case design as that dbc-611.

Aesthetically, the 611 is the coolest, especially if you're into 1980s stuff... CA53W-1 is in 2nd place for sheer 1980s digital bliss.
I know this video is older, but I appreciate it, I've been trying to compare these. I have sausage fingers and a bigger wrist too lol, so this is extra useful.
Thanks for the review. Had one of these decades ago. Good to see some are still around. Time to get another one.
Prices have really gone up! :(
CA-53W: $15.95, now around $23
DBC-32D: $34.95, now around $50
DBC-611: $47.90, now around $60
DB-360: $24.99, now around $40
DBC-32D
It’s sad they have gone up. But I understand with inflation.
Here in Finland the DBC-32D was 76€, during a -15% discount...
Memories of me in the 80s pressing those little rubber buttons with my mechanical pencil ❤
I have the DB360 in gold. What a perfect watch.
Just received the DBC32d and love it. Still considering the 611 but maybe it’s not even worth getting now ?
The DBC 32 is the best totally agree button function is the best bigger display.... Proper retro casio
Anytime I think of Casio, I think of that scene in Planes, Trains and Automobiles where Candy goes "And a Casio"!
The black cheap calc watch in video does have a light, it's on the top right buttons if I'm remembering correctly
Nope that another one, I own the ca-53w and it doesn't have it but it as a positive, less battery consumption
the ca53w has great water protection i have forgot to take it off in the show and when i go swimming and its fine but i do get a bit of skin irritation from the bands
At 2:05 you said this doesn't do data, and I agree. What's with the stand it's on? I can read databank on it.
I have the vintage 1477 dbc 150 illuminator and i love it!
Back when these watches were new, people used the tips of pens and pencils to press the calculator buttons, not their fingers.
Just bought Casio DBC-32D-1A for $45.22
I just bought a DBC-32D-1 from Ebay, couldn't decide before seeing this video. :) Although the prices have gone up roughly 2x.
Someone commented that the CA23 is Chinese crap. Mine loses ten seconds per year, pretty good for “crap.”
❤️I ordered the first 2 because of u man.
Simply because I'm a mathematician, the CFX-20 is my favorite, and what I'd call the supreme calculator watch, because no others have been able to do Trigonometric functions while being on my wrist. Engineers agree, scientific calculators are da bomb!
I own three Casio Databank 300 (DBC 3000). One is made in China and the two unused are made in Malysia. Love the Databank 300! Metal and glass.
I got myself a DBC-611-1 for only 38€ (very cheap) second hand , clean and unused , and in full metal ! (more shiny than the one in the video)
LOL, it's not a full metal model :) www.casio-intl.com/asia/en/wat/watch_detail/DBC-611-1/
9:50 Just ordered the better lighting one.
Outstanding! Love these watches. Brings back lots of memories. Thanks for doing the reviews. My last comment (the give away vlog), I actually asked for a review on Casio Calc watches. Cheers, Rob.
I remembered your comment. You're in Australia right? I hope you and your son like this review :)

Absolutely you have to enjoy wearing watches I agree with you Love watches
Hi i don't suppose you would know why my CA53W-1 has a yellow outline around the WR logo on the top right of the face?
The 611 was my grail as a kid. Never did get my hands on one :(
Thank you for making an awesome and super informational review! I bought a DBC-611 (gold version), but I didn’t like the weak lum and the flat button pad. Thank you very much :)
I love ca53w casio watch
DB360-1AV my fav think i will get one...
You can use the ca53w-1 in water and also I think that the one with the big screen and a LED light is the best one cuz it has practically the most features and has a bigger display to read all of them and it also looks than nice's in my opinion
Dbc32 has better usability, but dbc611 more elegant. So, just need to buy both
There are so many more calculators/data banks watches from casio really unbelievable
do you know anything about the Casio DBC-32-1AES its about $10 more than the regular
DBC32-1A on amazon.
Is the ES the code for “Spain” release?
background music name plzz😊
9:30 Classic and discreet. Definitely the DBC-32D is the ugliest and weirdest, that one with a green light is more to get attention than useful.
Until Casio brings back a scientific calculator watch, no nerd points from me.
Exactly. I had a cfx-40 to back up my fx-7000g, which would occasionally kill off its four 2032 batteries at an inopportune time.
I have (and wear regularly) the Casio DBC-611-G (the gold model) and the case is most definitely metal, not resin. I would've assumed the silver model would be metal too, but perhaps it's a cheaper version. The next I get will be the CA-53..... for nostalgia reasons.
Neither is a full metal model, sorry to spoil it for you ;) www.casio-intl.com/asia/en/wat/watch_detail/DBC-611G-1/
The best watch ever, was the *DBX-100* (very similar to DBC611-1), but with full *dot matrix display* (aprox 1988-1992). These watches are good If you have many credit/ debit cards and you have problem in remembering pin numbers. I stored all my pin numbers in watch
Dude don’t do that. Anyone who gets hold of your watch can get access to all that data easily then
DBC-611 all the way! Love this watch!
3:01 I have taken my Casio calcuelator watch into the shower before and it still works
Hey! I wanna ask something about metal bracelets on watches. Which wrist size I can't use these type watches? I really like that metal thing, but my hand and wrist is really big, I think... What size is the biggest in this metal category? What your size?

The bracelets can take quite big wrists, I think. I have slim wrists and had to remove 5 links from my Casio DBC-32D-1 bracelet. Of course the watches are pretty small and the calculator buttons are tiny, so if you have big fingers, it might be a bit tricky to use the buttons, although you have to press them with your finger nail anyway, even if you have smaller fingers.
@@2300DY How did you remove the links? I don't see how on mine.
Haha
Cheers👍
Casio AE12WH-1A would be my choice. 100m water resistant with a resin strap. Casio W800H-1AV could work as well. A little smaller for your 9 y/o but you lose the cool little world map. 39.5mm vs 37mm diameter. Both under $15.
Is it true that dbc32 is 22mm lug to lug?
Nice Review Man, keep it up
Thank you sir!
I have a TC-600, that is touch screen, data bank, and calculator, plus 10 year battery.
I just bought the black Database.
Can anyone help me understand the difference between the DBC32-1A vs DBC-32-1AES models? I don't know if they have any actual internal differences like water resistance or if it's just a difference to show manufacturing runs.

Some workplaces don't want you to have a phone with you as its a distraction. Obviously few heed that directive in the places Ive worked :-)
Thank you for the vid, this is exactly what I was looking for. earned my sub
No, thank you. I really appreciate it :)
DBC611, I'm sure I had this in black back in the day
Forgot DBX 102 and 112
Are these watch batteries replaceable after 5 or 10 years . ..or is the watch disposable?
you can change the battery on any casio watch
the "10 year battery" is just the battery life, that means you'll only have to change it every 10 years
Nice Review😆
You do a great job. Thanks
Thank you sir!
참으로 시계를 잘 만드는 브랜드.
카시오!!!!
It is water resistant ?
DBC-32D-1 is not water resistance.
I need 611dp in black plastic case

The CA53W-1

The DBV -611-1 I had in black when I was in grade school. I can't seem to find them in black anywhere.
Nice voice bro
Data-Bank, not Data-Base
Doesn't make a difference...lol.
10:27 mine pals and such buddys (:
The ca 53w-1 is NOT in the Back to the Future movie... thats the ca 50 lithium version and goes for couple of 100 bucks on ebay!
The ca 53w-1 is a chinese crap watch and the japanese original ca 53w is in BTTF 2
Cool 😎
Edb 610 is the Mac daddy
Now all of them have double prices , inflation after corona & war in Ukraine hit the world very hard
Forgot DBC 150
Not everybody has a cell phone though!
I have an eyebrow piercing and I'm a dude. Idk. You should get something like that 😂

When their original straps/bracelets fail, they get $4 silicone straps made for smart watches or one of my 30-year-old Spiedel Twist-o-flex bracelets.,
Some of it can't resist water
