  • In this video, I will discuss about primary loads required for static seismic analysis, correct sequence of load and analysis command, and how we can create load combinations for orthogonal and non-orthogonal structure. Load combination for a structure with non-orthogonal frame is a bit complex as we need to combine seismic effect from both direction, and how we can easily generate these combinations using custom rule, that I will cover in detail.
    For analysis and design of any structure (concrete, steel or composite) which is in low or high seismic prone area, we need to perform a detailed seismic analysis and based on the analysis results, go for member/connection design. Static seismic analysis is one of the easiest method of earthquake force consideration but it is not only limited to that. For dynamic analysis and seismic detailing, we need static seismic inputs. There are 15 different inputs required for IS1893:2016 code and if any incorrect input is assigned, that may lead to unsafe design.

    Thanks sir, yeah we are awaiting for videos on URM infill wall, brick wall modelling, shear wall modelling analysis and design.
    Sir please make video on non linear time history analysis....
    Sir, please make video on non building structure like plant structures, silo design, intze and underground water tank design etc...
    Also how to design building with basement peripheral shear wall and how to design waffle/grid/flat slab in staad pro CE. Thank you sir....

    Hi sir, the result of members get varied,if i used normal copay paste option for seismic load, and the mass load generation option

    Sir, may I know why code suggest 0.9 DL ? Since all the DL present in the building why reduction by 10 % is considered ?

      There are few reasons, one of the reason is uplift during seismic activity. You can go through the code commentary for more details about this.

    Greeting of the day sir
    I can observe that you have given offsets in beam and column. Further I can observe there is gap in beam and column.
    Can you explain haw it govern the design and what is it's imprtance....
    Thanks for the beautiful lectuure

      Member offset is not always suggested as it increase the moment value due to eccentricity. For negligible offset value, design results are not affected. For few specific cases, it is required to adjust the beam column connection (from center line to actual connection point) and then only this offset specification is recommended.
      Not sure where you have noticed the gap.

    Sir, in residential building the water load of terrace water tank treated as DL or LL ??

    • @surojit_ghosh
      @surojit_ghosh  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends, basically this is a gravity load component and the weight of water might be considered as dead load. But in certain cases (isolated overhead water tanks), several designers consider this as a live load and neglect a percentage of load during seismic analysis.

    Thanks sir making such kind of videos,
    Sir, is there any features available in staad for auto load combination for dynamic analysis(response spectrum)??

    • @surojit_ghosh
      @surojit_ghosh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, same option can be used to generate combination loads for dynamic analysis, only you need to switch on repeat load case option.

      Sir, does auto generation of load combination includes vertical seismic acceleration (Av) for response spectrum load ???
