I'm never ever gonna say again that a drum you recorded would not sound direct, defined or punchy! This snare is MASSIVE and very present in my face! Thanks Kristian, this is what I was looking for.

A very natural sounding sample, love it. I am struggling to reach the same results with 1 top mike + 2 OHs combo due to limited inputs on my interface, but I have to work with what I have right? ;)

Hitting snare with stick's ass and rimshots like that, sounds very cracky. I always make samples this way for higher velocity

That Pearl snare is a great acquisition. It sounds like a canon! The trashy sounding room benefited the spot mic. Happy renovating :)
