@user-lz5vh9bb5w The trailers look nothing but pure fire however maybe the show is shxt or maybe it ends up being phenomenal. I hope the show is good and it's around for as many seasons as we can get.
@@TechxGremlin Oh I agree that it looks great. But I've learnt that you can't trust anything when it comes to TV shows, great shows get cancelled while horrible shows get season after season. So the best strategy is to only watch a show after it's finished, otherwise you will risk wasting time getting invested in a show that'll only get cancelled.
I absolutely love Mark Strong. And the rest of the cast and overall production of this show looks monumental. And I know it’s probably not possible to have Charlotte Rampling reprise her role since this takes place before Paul Atreides’ birth, but god what an amazing job she’d do!
In the post post modern world, dig up all the old, dead IP and make it dance! Don't get me wrong, I love the Duneiverse, but if we can't learn to tell new stories, then we're finished.
I agree. Our culture is eating itself. We need to fund truly original content that is very much still lacking. Good news is that the audience votes with their wallets and I think we might be at the end of the tired excessive sequel and ip baiting. Just look at this years box office.audiences aren’t going to see even big ticket items anymore (comparatively speaking)
Lol, you can always watch new ip and other people enjoy some blockbusters. It's a win-win... A24, Blumhouse, Snyder, et cetera, all produce new IP for people to enjoy.
I love that Hollywood is starting to take classic science fiction seriously. Maybe an actual decent attempt at translating R. A. Heinlein's works might happen.
dont know if it will ever happen in recent times. But it is very much possible to make GOD emperor of Dune with latest technology. the book was very deep. it will do very well in TV with it's heavy philosophy and dialogs.
Anyone know where exactly in the timeline we are in relation to the books? I thought they were going to follow Sisterhood of Dune but apart from Valya Harkonnen I don't see any of the characters during that time, esp. Salvador or Roderick Corrino, Vorian Atreides, Josef Venport or even Raquella the Reverend Mother at the time. And if this happens 10,000 years before Paul is born then the Bulterian Jihad should be fresh in everyone's mind, and we should get an interesting commentary on the ethics of thinking machines, not to mention see how the Mentats, Suk doctors and navigators become the powers they are.
Yep, seems like it's very loosely based. Tula turns her back on the sisterhood at a young age after she kills her Atreides husband, suddenly she's here in her old age. Considering how true the movies were to the books, this is kinda annoying. Also no mention of Valya's younger brother Griffin, who was a key role.
@@chibirex596 Yes, that's sus isn't it? I hope it's not like Foundation, where they twisted the story beyond what Isaac Asimov had written (despite it turning out to be a good season or two). It's not fair to Frank Herbert who had a clear thematic vision when he wrote Dune and expanded the universe, right?
@@pyronical I forgot about Tula, yes. I don't think Griffin is getting mentioned at all. Perhaps these changes are the reason Denis Villeneuve left the project because he was going to be part of it initially? I hope it's not going to be the "Space Game of Thrones" because the Dune universe is thematically rich enough, and obviously has enough political entanglings. They could have a whole show centered on the philosophical debate that would've occurred post Bulterian Jihad. And I find it sad that very little of the Dune lore is being discussed by the actors and writers in their recent interviews - it doesn't seem like they are familiar with Frank Herbert & sons writings.
I love that they are going for unexplored territory and new characters, but the writing will have to be superior to bring in non fans and have them understand the point in time of the story and have any idea where that is in the Dune history.
What? No. Why. Why do they do this. Don’t make a show. It just saturates the existence of the movies. Anytime they take a fantasy world and explore and SHOW all the facets of different aspects of characters and other things that aren’t shown directly in the core story. You destroy the STRONGEST part of any story/painting/fiction of any kind; the mystery. That’s the power of a fantasy world. These shows and products that psyphon from things like this (Star Wars, dune, lord of the rings…etc), bleed the spirit of it all dry. Don’t cheer this. Shun this
Sadly the owners of the Dune IP are trying to exploit the success of Villeneuve's movies, so they are trying to milk the public's interest with the franchise.
I hope that despite its troubled production, this turns out good! 👍👍🤞🤞! I'm enjoying the main musical theme! Please be good, please be good LOL...PS Already looks better than anything Villeneuve's movies had to offer.
Well, it's like that in Dune. And everyone know that this show is loosely based on Brian Herbert book. Just because they don't say it in this video doesn't make it disrespectful
That chance increased by mere fact this series is based on a mediocre book written by mediocre writers who milked the Dune IP. Not to mention the various changes to key creative executives during the show's pre-production phase.

Just in time to replace the release slot of the penguin

I have not been excited for a show since Wednesday!!!! I can't wait for Dune Prophecy!!!!
The Duniverse. It's right there, people!
This looks great, fingers crossed this will be a good show!
Ragnar and Merlin in one show? That's almost too much awesomeness.
But it is awesome to get a glimpse into the History of the Corrino Dynasty.
Definitely looking forward to this dune universe!!
