I recall watching the original as a teen. It was very entertaining. The remake Part 1 and 2 are also entertaining. I just finished watching episodes 1 of this series. It too is very entertaining. Great actors who are cast well in their roles. The storyline is cohesive and well done. I look forward to watching it unfold. 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm not understanding the logic of making this series immediately after the Denis Villenueve's masterpiece. Inevitably, it will be compared to the movie, unfavorably. I'll leave others to watch this.
Travis Fimmel's character seems powerful, but shrouded in mystery. He's described as "a charismatic soldier with an enigmatic past, who seeks to gain the Emperor's trust at the expense of the Sisterhood." which seems like he wants to destroy the Bene Gesseritt. I've been brainstorming on who he could be.... I think he may be the genesis for the idea of the "Kwisatz Haderach". I'm thinking maybe a powerful sister of the Bene Gesserit got into some sort of trouble, and the sisterhood unfairly abandoned and exhiled her. She's bitter... so she hatches a scheme... have a SON and train him in the ways of the Bene Gesseritt, with the goal of one day using his power to destroy the sisterhood that betrayed her. The Bene Gesseritt are always only women, so by having a son they won't know he's got powers until he's already struck at them. We know the Bene Gesseritt can only access memories from their female ancestors, and that the whole idea of the "Kwisatz Haderach" was that him being a male means he would be able to access the memories of both his male and female ancestors. Maybe the reason they knew a man could access both sides of ancestral memory is because this mystery guy was the first man ever trained in the Bene Gesseritt ways, and through him it was accidentally discovered that men inherit both sides of their ancestral memories... and this man then almost destroyed the Sisterhood with his powerful and unique abilities. Once he failed, the Sisterhood decided they wanted that ultimate power this man had the potential to hold, but under THEIR control, so they hatched the idea of the Kwisatz Haderach. We know that Paul was the result of "a careful breeding program stretching back 10,000 years" and this whole series is set "10,000 years before the Dune movies" so the timing also makes perfect sense as well.
Your comment is truly fantastic! Your theories about Travis Fimmel’s character and the origins of the Kwisatz Haderach are both impressive and logical. Your deep insights into the Dune universe really enrich the story. It’s a pleasure to read comments like this-well done!
So does Rings of powers look good… also like Rings of power this is not based on any book. Both use some names and locations and invent their own story… That is less promising…

I hope this series doesn't dilute the original story and its message. The original story is a thought provoking epic drama that shows us a window into humanity. A provocative saga that puts us on a far bigger stage in the distant future while drawing countless parallels to past and present society. "Dune: Prophecy" is a planned TV series set in the universe of Frank Herbert's "Dune." While details are still emerging, the series aims to explore the intricate politics, mythology, and characters of the "Dune" saga, possibly expanding on the themes of power, survival, and prophecy that are central to the story. The series could delve into various aspects of the "Dune" lore, including the rise of House Atreides, the conflict over the spice melange, and the complexities of the Fremen culture. It may also explore key characters in greater depth, offering fresh perspectives on their motivations and challenges.

Glad we're getting more Dune while patiently waiting for the Dune Messiah film adaptation.
I'm not, they ruined the forst ones and changed the Lore. Don't hollywood ever learn?

1:38 yo my boy ragnar Lothbrook is here lest go❤❤
super underrated actor, loved him in Vikings and Raised by wolves.
Been a while since I've seen him. My goat Ragnar
I don't really like that actor honestly. He's a bit like Jason Mamoa. You only see the actor, not the character. Takes you out of the show.

lets freaking go !

How have i not seen a single piece of material or mention of this series till today!? It comes out today as well!
Wow! Now that’s the trailer I’ve been waiting to see for the show. I am now fully locked in and will be there day one. Mark Strong… perfect casting choice for this universe!👏

I have a bad feeling about this show. Like someone just heard “Powerful Women” and green lit the show.
I want it to be good, but I have a feeling it won’t. 2 for 3 Dune projects isn’t so bad. Hopefully they make up for the lose with Messiah
@@John_The_Fourth The series is about the Bene Gesserit... In the book they are he most manipulative people, who carefully weave their politics and fool all the great houses. It's a series about literal witches, this is loyal to the source material. It's more than an unwarranted overly feministic film

So once we’re done watching the first season of the Penguin the follow week we get Dune!? That’s what I’m talking about! Max is gonna have us all hooked.
First and only season of the penguin as it's a limited series
This’ll fill the Dune hole in my chest until the next movie comes out
I wish they adapted "House of Attriedes" Book, truly the best book written outside the original trilogy
Hollywood is following the agenda: Men are weak, Woman should rule. Which was never Herberts' intention for DUNE.

The power of one. The power of two. The power of sand, G.
I so want this series to be a hit. The Dune universe is like Game of Thrones on steroids. We could have many movies and TV Series if they can just get this right and the third movie sticks the landing. Imagine a future series about the worlds when the God Emperor takes power. There could be so much content revolving around The Guild, Tleilaxu, Ix and more that would blow peoples minds. Since studios love prequels they could go back even further to the Butlerian Jihad if they wanted.
The "Watch Now" voice made me watch!
I feel like I've seen the entire show already, it just hasn't registered in my consciousness yet.
I will watch this just because of Travis Fimmel! What an actor!!!
I love Dune and I am glad they casted Travis Fimmel. Never seen a bad performance by him.
This looks truly promising, I'm really looking forward to see more of Valya, and I trust in Max to bring us a great series for the Dune universe 🤞🤞

The Penguin and now this, HBO is on a roll.
It’s crazy how we got to a time where shows look like summer blockbusters. I got spoiled. I stopped going to theaters and stoped watching movies. I keep watching shows. I was the type who was mostly into movies, interesting how that changed.
Looking so good!
0:23 is this the cinemasins intro sound effect?
Could anyone let me know where this sits within the films? Is this a long-previous prequel like Rings of Power?
Yes. About 10k years before the events of “Dune”. Hopefully it will not be crap like LOTR:RoP though…
I'm not understanding the logic of making this series immediately after the Denis Villenueve's masterpiece. Inevitably, it will be compared to the movie, unfavorably. I'll leave others to watch this.
And it Will be much better and deeper (Dialogues/Characteres as HBO used to master it) than the Trilogy. Mark my Words.
This is the only sensible not paid for comment you will find here.
Good theory
This looks really good. A chance to go back into the Dune universe? Heck yes!
I love it. HBO has found almost limitless content with 23 books.
i was on the fence when i found out denis wasn't directing this, but this actually looks very good
Whoever's doing it has clearly embraces Denis' aesthetic and tone for the Dune universe, so I'm willing to give it a go.
wiki says some of the production company is Villeneuve Films, so some ppl of his team is involved in this
So does Rings of powers look good… also like Rings of power this is not based on any book. Both use some names and locations and invent their own story…
That is less promising…

Finally more studios are recognising Travis Fimmel's talent!
I hope this series doesn't dilute the original story and its message. The original story is a thought provoking epic drama that shows us a window into humanity. A provocative saga that puts us on a far bigger stage in the distant future while drawing countless parallels to past and present society.
If you haven't read the books, I highly recommend the first 6
"Dune: Prophecy" is a planned TV series set in the universe of Frank Herbert's "Dune." While details are still emerging, the series aims to explore the intricate politics, mythology, and characters of the "Dune" saga, possibly expanding on the themes of power, survival, and prophecy that are central to the story.
The series could delve into various aspects of the "Dune" lore, including the rise of House Atreides, the conflict over the spice melange, and the complexities of the Fremen culture. It may also explore key characters in greater depth, offering fresh perspectives on their motivations and challenges.
