Good video so far. Just want to add that Asafa Powell was 200+ pounds until 2009 or so when his coach had him lose a little weight. I have the race where the commentators talk about it and they mention Asafa went from 95 kg to 90 kg and saying specifically Asafa said he had to cut down on foods like fried chicken to get leaner. Another sprinting channel mentioned Asafa weighing 90+ kg and commenters were doubting it so when I saw the race from 2009 I saved it for evidence. There are even later points in his career where he clearly looked heavier than Bolt for example.

Gosh! Had not clocked Gout Gout. But your video/analysis, especially with the emphasis on his steps/ stride (as an underlying fundamental) desmontrates he is, on current achievements, on a par with Bolt and is someone absolutely to watch. Another excellent video. You deserve tens of thousands of subscribers/ followers. Keep it all coming.

Yeah, but first to break bolt's u/18 200m record by 9 tenths with his recent 20.04. Granted Usain did that at 16yo too, but didn't improve on it as a 17yo. At the rate Gout Gout is progressing, fair chance, tap wood re injuries, he's going 19.80 before his 18th birthday. He ran 20.87 a year before his 20.04 and is clearly gaining in natural strength.

The video is titled “Htz. 200m U18 Men, QLD All Schools Championships, QSAC 3 November 2024” and includes gout’s start and a bit after he crosses the line.

Interesting premise, but not much use.
The step count is almost incidental.
A more important aspect would be what technical aspects facilitate the quick times. Or how is he applying force to the track to give him so much flight time. How much force per kg is he applying. What his ground contact times , and in what ratio to flight time….and more….
So you see, a lot to uncover…..

    • @roughlyestimated

All true. Though I do think there is something in the step count. I am trying to find out what these athletes can lift. I understand Ben could bench in excess of 400lbs!!!

Me personally, i think the reason why goup gout's running form looks alot like Bolt is because he is a tall and very slim black athlete. Very tall dark skinned athletes have pretty much the same momentum when running, so that's why he looks alot like Bolt when running 🏃‍♂️ 👍🏾.

Gout Gout closest style comparison would probably be Christine Mboma.
He is also quite similar to Bolt although you can clearly see Bolt has a longer and more forceful stride!
Both of them have a sort of 400 m way of running. They are not completely polished 100 m runners like Gatlin and Asafa.
My prediction is Gout Gout will not be close to Bolts 100 m record. Ofc you never know when sport science gets even better and you have enchanced games etc. But if everything stays about the same I will say maybe everything from 9.75 to 9.90 will be his peak pb. In the 200 m I would not be surprised if he gets close or take down Bolts record. Maybe everything between 19.15 and 19.35. 400m would also suit him quite good especially since he likes the training process and is known for pushing the limits.
I would also keep in mind people from Sudan tend to be pretty tall. (Dinkas are very tall) Bolts secret was his abnormal acceleration despite his height. I dont think Gout Gout have the same fast twitched muscles or Bolts ability to put on lean body mass, but maybe his 200 will be even greater. Since people from that area is known for being very lean and tall it wouldnt surprise me if he stays around 70 kg. Maybe he can get to 75 kg but thats also a stretch. Extra weight could just make him slower.
Tebogo also has this unpolishjed way of running. Look how much more effective Lyles look. I guess Tebogo needs more strength to make his speed go more in one direction if he wants to take down Lyles in the 100. In the 200 that kind of running is optimal.

I think it would profit you more by comparing Gout Gout's steps in the last 60m to Bolt's steps in the last 60m. There's little doubt that Gout Gout will take less steps in the first 40 than he does now with a reasonably amateur start, and even a mild stumble in the 10.29 race you analysed. Also, Gout is between 6'0" and 6'2", and a higher cadence potential. I think his potential is in the 200m and 400m, longer strider than Blake's 19.26 and Michael Johnson's 19.32?. Going off memory. I think Gout Gout could go near to 9.70 for 100m with +1.5 wind, sub 19 for 200m, sub 30 for 300m and sub 42.5 for the 400m. He'll probably also grab a 150m straight WR along the path. I think his top speed will surpass all other sprinters, but he'd need to sacrifice some of that top speed to reach his potential in the 100m, by focusing on power for his first 40m acceleration.
