I'm planning to repaint my first doll and I was wondering if I can use acetonfree nailpolishremover for the head of the doll. Is it possible, or pure aceton is the only way to remove the original painting?
I need advice ;__; I used an acetone based nail polish remover, but il melted the factory paint and was extremely difficult to remove... I have the doll (a cheap dollar store princess-ripoff) with dark spots all over her face ;__; is it normal? How do I avoid tainting the doll?
Yes, this is normal. The cheap dolls often have problems with acetone. With dollar store and other cheap dolls it's best to do the face up with acrylic paint on top of the factory paint. The best thing you can do is to keep going and make the flaws add to backstory.
Hi can someone help me, my sealant if applied over pastels smudges them and makes them blotchy but idk why Edit: I'm a noob to customizing dolls and have only ever customized an lps (littlest pet shop) so I'm new to sealing my work 😖
oh by the way, lately I don't even apply glue to the wefts and it works even better! I just cut the wefts like they are, without any extra glue, reroot like in this video and then add some tacky glue inside of the head and let it dry for 12-24 hours. I should make a video about it. Now it takes me just around 3 hours to reroot a head completely from zero.
0:11 - 0:36 Remove shoes and accessories
0:36 - 1:09 Cut off hair
1:09 - 1:37 Remove head from body
1:37 - 2:25 Remove rest of hair
2:25 - 3:33 Removing factory pain with pure acetone
3:33 - 4:07 Removing body paint with non-acetone
4:07 - 4:46 Removing animal ears
4:46 - 5:20 Loosening stiff joints with hairdryer
When the eyebrow came off I was like "teach me your ways sensai *0*"
I would like to see how the sealant is applied, because it looks so smooth, like there is nothing on it

I use the crochet hook trick too
yep, it works also!
Poppen Atelier does the doll head melt if you use acetone?
pheonixmorphix I don't think so. I prefer to use acetone.
pheonixmorphix no it doesn't but if you need to remove paint on the body than use *NON ACETON* nail polish remover

How long on average does it take to repaint a doll? Do you have to remove their hair? Love your work, stunning.
1 month
I brought a secondhand doll that's a little grubby from previous love, what is the best way to wash the doll for a clean base?
I have kind of a stupid question but ... how do you remove the hair from the bangs without damaging that vinyl part..?

can the makeup be removed after sprayed with Mr. Hobby sealant?
It can still be removed after the mr super clear by using acetone, nail polish remover, or 91% rubbing alcohol. Those will remove all the layers

If you use brush on sealant that will definitely smudge the pastels. If it's airsole you are spraying to close to the doll.
love your video
thank you!
