    thank you for sharing this! what a clever idea!!! I've never seen this method before! this seems much more beginner friendly then using a reroot tool that could pop open a scalp! im going to have to try this when I start customizing soon!

    Hmmm....have you ever tried a long-eye beading needle? They are very fine, so they would be easy to get thru the holes in the doll head, and since they are essentially 2 wires joined together, you have more than 2 inches of space to thread the weft through.

    • @Rina_Redfield

    Hello from Greece 🥰. I always see your video and I admire your work. You are an inspiration!!! Because I thought you only needed saran or nylon hair to reroot a barbie doll, I was afraid to order because they cost a lot with shipping and customs, so after watching your tutorial I bought some wefts from Temu. Its 25 cm long heat resistant synthetic doll hair (polyester I think?). It is of course not the best quality hair but my dolls didnt have any hair so..better than none, plus I have seen some barbie extra dolls with worse hair quality, (Barbie extra 13 I am looking at you!!). I have a question though that is a rookie question. I started the hairline and the next row (also the crown) with 2 strands from the wefts as you do but It seemed too much thickness for barbie and then on the sides I am using 1 strand and I will be using one strand in the partline since the holes are so close to each other. I dont know how this will turn out. How many strands would you use for a barbie ? The doll in the tutorial is a MH so her head is bigger. Any thoughts??

  • @gracefromglaur5488
    @gracefromglaur5488 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    People if you use the hair dryer technique make sure the hair dryer isn’t too close to the doll’s head as the plastic may get a bit burnt and would be ideal for you to use heat resistant material to protect your hairs if the heat of the hair dryer goes in them if it takes awhile to get the (hopefully vegan and cruelty free) hair to stay in place.

  • @Cowiethomas

    I like this easy technique. So you are hand-sewing the hair in row by row, basically. I guess that's easy enough, if the opening of the head is big enough to let you get all the way in... and you need to make the holes very carefully.

    • @Aerosklice
      @Aerosklice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A reroot tool is faster and more precise, here you need to find the correct hole from the inside and pass the hair through the needle every time which is quite time consuming.

    • @kateworkman921
      @kateworkman921 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Aerosklice
      Is it really more time consuming than grabbing a few strands, hooking them in the reroot tool, poking them through the head, then repeating that a hundred or so times?
      I'm legit asking, btw. I haven't been able to try either method yet.

    Uhhhm... I have just made it to half of the scalp and now the head is so full of hot glue that the neck peck will never go in there again. Some holes, especially on the sides, broke, therefore there are just longer slids in which the hair can swiggle around.
    Seems like I need to rip it all out again and try a yarn reroot, normal way, hoping it will cover up the breaks. Been working on the hair for over a week.
    I used just the same hair as she did, similar needle, no idea why hers didn’t fill up with the glue.
    Little bit sad, because I set high hopes for this project and method.

    I have a thought: have you tried inserting the eye of the needle from the outside of the head so it emerges from the neck, thread the weft chunk, then pull it back (the way the video shows)? This would eliminate "seeking" the hole from the inside and might make the technique significantly faster... Thoughts?

    • @kateworkman921
      @kateworkman921 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory, it would work, but then you'd have the annoyance of trying to thread the needle with the hair while the needle is stuck in the head, with could be problematic depending on the length of the needle.

    • @Rina_Redfield
      @Rina_Redfield 5 ปีที่แล้ว
