I guess it's a Nairobi issue (maybe why capacity has maxed out). I used my Starlink in Nanyuki and consistently got 100-140mbps (down), 17-7mpbs (up), video calls were excellent too.
urban areas have too much radio noise , and some or most are likely from safaricom boosters they are way above recommended levels of power which is illegal ....
I've been using Starlink Roam (Unlimited) in remote Kakamega, averaging 100-120 Mbps over the past 6 months. Main drawback: customer service, though there's been some improvement. Initially tested it in Nairobi, but due to latency and better alternatives, it's best suited for rural areas. Roam functionality allows mobility, and I typically consume 2TB monthly without significant weather-related disruptions. However, forced service upgrades can be frustrating. Overall, LEO is ideal for rural coverage and won't replace high-speed urban fiber anytime soon.
I'm hesitant to pause my service during inactive periods because I'm uncertain about availability upon resumption, despite assurances that existing customers remain unaffected. Reliability of service availability has been inconsistent.
I've been tracking the recent SpaceX launches over the last weeks, and closely monitoring the global Starlink orbital map, and I'm hopeful that by January, additional satellites will improve coverage in our orbit. Fingers crosed.
Thank you for your detailed comment. Everyone is the remote areas has reported very high speeds, the urban density is the problem and fiber solves that pretty well.
I think this is what happened with my installation: I didn’t pay for a few months, and when I reactivated my subscription, I was locked out of the Kshs 6,500 package.
Am still stuck apo kwa package is full, what the hell, how does that happen. Many people will drop just because of that, thats new sjai skia kitu kama iyo from any other provider
Kwani which Starlink are you using? Your experience is strange. I've been using it from May, been great, initially on the 6500 package, lately switched to the KES 4000. Never been happier. Quit my Saf Home Fibre
Didnt know starlink ya Githurai zilitoka😂😂.... anyway I dont have it and havent used it but I have friends who use it and their ushuhuda is positive, and they are in Nairobi, though there was some shortage last month only.
My Starlink experience in Kisumu & Bumala; 1. Speeds are NOT as advertised. Best I got in Ksm was 100Mbps download with 10Mbps upload. Though in rural KE speeds are fairly consistent. My Ksm site gets 55-60Mbps daily (Download) 2. There was (still is ?) only 1 base station in Kenya. There are very few spaceX satellites orbiting Kenya/Africa. 3. Latency (ping)...woiii. woooiii woooii. Smoke signal has lower latency!! 4. For you city dwellers(6th floor +), the kit doesn't come with long cable...mahn having to buy 45mtrs cable at 35k....just cz of a proprietary connector (inside is just normal CAT6A cable)😢 5. Kit doesn't come with ethernet adapter. Very annoying. 6. Safcom biz fibre (even 4G LTE) has more consistent speed & is reliable...until gava interrupts. 7. Price shift is unfair. Safcom/other ISP you pay same price monthly unless YOU CHOOSE to upgrade/downgrade. I dare you to upload you next video using Starlink....😂😂😂
But there are people who have been providing constructive feedback on Twitter, and their comments are getting deleted and there's a Kenya whose account was even blocked for writing down the issues he's facing and expressing disappointment. I would not trust Starlink just yet, Elon seems to be an ego-maniac when it comes to criticism
Thank you for your review. From inception Starlink was designed to serve remote areas lacking internet network coverage. Kenyan's and many others got clever than the engineers of the product and decided to use it in urban dense areas. Is it really a Starlink problem? Huu si mwiba wa kujidunga?
Starlink has very high latency compared to fibre because it uses satellites. That's why it's not suitable for video calls and can buffer when streaming video.
The message being put forth is very informative. It would be better if you stuck to the authentic accent you have when dogs back in Homa bay chase you. This trying to impose a blocked nose accent business is appalling.
I like your video but your title is a bit misleading I don't know how much research about star-link but their target market is not people in the city because you already have things like fiber they most target remote areas people sailing in the etc. basically star-link is target people that have been neglected by traditional ISP

We are back to using satellite for internet connectivity over a better fiber optic option. What went wrong?
Regular fibre cuts plus perception of easy government interference with fibre.

Really terrible upload speeds
9:52 I moved from paying around 51$ to 300$ 😂… that’s when I retired my kit … I will use it again … during election time
I think I will do just exactly this
Yeah. I'm also going back to my cheap isp. Sadly saf hijafika huku kwangu. Starlink never been the same since September.
That's the way to go. I am waiting for Q4 Starlink numbers from the Communication Authority (CA). I wager there would be a drop in the uptake.
Kwani which Starlink are you using? Your experience is strange. I've been using it from May, been great, initially on the 6500 package, lately switched to the KES 4000. Never been happier. Quit my Saf Home Fibre
Same Starlink you are using
I was going to ask the same thing using it in the city and never had these issues
Same thing here! Never had these kind of issues. Though mine is operating in Vihiga county
It depends on where you are located in the city. If you leave in an rea with many Starlink subscribers then you are bound to have very low speeds.
Starlink works perfect in remote areas, it is just not a good solution for urban areas.
😂 8:12 but 6mbps is wild ….even I got my kit from Rwanda because we don’t have it in uganda but I got between 40mbps -70mbps
It depends with locations. Urban areas with high density are not ideal for Starlink
Probably good to have the device for redundancy. Only pay for it when you have problems or when in the rural for extended periods of time
I think I will do just that. Keep fibre for urban use and Starlink for rural use
Starlink is also not good for always online websites( non caching website s) eg online banking, due to its pulsing nature.
I have to try it out on these websites
Thanks for the video. I hope more people see the video?

You Can't Rely On Starlink For Low Latency(the delay in time it takes for data to travel from one point to another on a network) Tasks.
Starlink should be an internet access option for rural areas. Fibre rules urban areas.
