My personal headcanon for Wanda's Taffee obsession is that those honey-made things never spoil, no matter how much time travel you put honey through. It might get stale, but those things can be eaten even after aging 60 years in half a day.
Also Wurt was the first character to have a favorite food! It was a minor character perk for her until they decided to give a favorite food to all the other survivors. So the whole concept is thanks to her and her durians
If we go even further back, Wilbur gains extra benefits from Bananas! Not quite to the same level, but this is probably the very earliest iteration of the concept
cooking bone marrow is a thing, though I imagine WX instead uses the outer part of bones to make the muffin as inedible as possible just to show off his superior robotic stomach
Hey woodie main here! (Im also canadian!) Woodies favorite food has to do with the fact he is incredibly picky. When inspecting fish for example he states he prefers salmon. Meats are his favorite, which is shown when inspecting the egg skillet, or cooked meat. He loves honey, almost as much as maple syrup *though not the perfect substitute its the closest to maple syrup within the constant. Hes a carnivore and a sweet tooth. Any quotes related to bees and honey have a positive undertone, in comparison to some other foods (which as i mentioned hes picky). Hope that helps!
They're also a good meal to have when watching the game, whether its hockey or some other sport. Plus, its something simple to make, whether because you don't have the time, or for those who are bad at cooking, you'd just toss them into the toaster oven, and you're good. I'm sure he'd be having honey mustard if he had the resources and knowledge to make them, but just straight honey is fine (that "fake" honey mustard that's creamy and pestle yellow with black dots are not as good as the translucent kind, in my opinion).
Wanda: I like Taffy cause it reminds me of my Baba. Wurt: I like Durians cause they remind me of home glorp Winona: I like veggie stringer cause they're cool and refreshing after a long day of work Woodie: Mmmmmm Honey Nuggets

To explain Wilson’s favorite, he’s a scientist who’s obviously putting most his money into his equipment and such, and so he’s left rather poor when it comes to taking care of other expenses, one being food, at his time, eggs and bacon are rather cheap and the bacon grease can be saved for either frying eggs or for other uses such as lube(doubt it’d be good for running a machine, but it oughta help when fitting parts together by hand), so they’re his favorite for the simple fact he was still eating like a college student as well as giving him a versatile resource he can use to help assemble machinations beyond his own understanding
My personal theory for Wormwood's choice of favorite food is that Wormwood has all sorts of crops at his disposal, given that he is *the* choice for farming. Bananas, by comparison to everything else Wormwood can grow, are pretty rare, only being found in a few select places. Maybe he finds the banana experience novel?
Great video, i would like to point out that wormwood has wood/vine "teeth" that could make eating a but harder, so bananas are soft and easy to eat too Also i love how Wanda doesnt get the health penalty from taffy, fun stuff
My personal theory is that since wormwood often calls plants his friends, a cooked banana (banana trees are biologically giant herbs) is his equivalent to your buddy making lunch for you.
@@sleepdeprivedcactus lmao, yeah! since he says it's friends "hair / beard" (don't remember wich) it's like when pb gave her hair to finn in adventure time and it actually got chewed on
I like that Warly doesn't have a favorite food and that they took out the crock pot bonus from single player. He easily gets bored of what he is eating and so it makes sense that he wouldn't pin down a favorite. I often eat repeat dishes and there is nothing wrong with that but I also like the feeling of knowing what is around me on the fly and using that to fix my stats, usually health.
oh and also good point, many people get tired of eating the same food over and over, i don't want to eat chicken nuggets everyday for the rest of my life, sorry woodie.
I think Wormwood's favorite food being cooked banana is a lot more simple than lunar affinities. If you grow plants in pots or indoors, it helps to plant seeds in bananas and bury them in soil. There are so many sugars in bananas that it aids growth and plants like to root in them. Seeing as how it's better to let the banana go black, it's not like 'spoiled' bananas can be a favorite food. I think the closest thing to black bananas are cooked.
4:12 I play on Nintendo switch and on Nintendo switch there’s something called compendium in the menu you click it then click survivors then you can find information about them. Im going to expand on wobster dinner. As we all know, lobster wasnt always held in high regard, several hundred years ago it was even fed to prisoners. In the 1800s it gained some traction, mostly in America and not in britain where maxwell was from, but by the 1920s it was cheap again, being canned and shipped to soldiers. it only got fully gentrified in the 1950s, when it became a staple rich food. There's a chance Maxwell fished for lobsters with his brother when they were young and poor, and it was the taste of his childhood, becoming inaccessible and expensive when he moved to America, but moreso it represents the rise and fall of the great Maxwell, from rags to riches and back. And who knows, maybe the wobster phophecizes that the snobbiest of Maxwell is still to come.
I love this! I knew lobsters used to be cheaper but I didn't know they had a second wave of pricing and such :) That would make way more sense than what I said!
something about eggs and wilsons meal of choice, eggs are actually REALLY good for your brain health, and general health too. like. one of the best things you can eat if you want a healthy mind is eggs in any form. i like to think wilson knows this but also puts just a little too much stake in the eggs helping him get smart. kinda like how ppl joke if you eat enough carrots you'll get night vision. technically true, but not as impressive as you think and is instead healthy food just being magic for your health as always.
wickerbottom chose surf and turf as her favourite because it has really good healing and sanity restoration and since she has it as her fav it also has good hunger stats making it literally "The Perfect Dish" also woodie likes honey nuggets because typically they're made from chickens, which are birds.
Wilson liking bacon and eggs might also be a reference to Francis Bacon, an English philosopher whose work popularized the phrase "Knowledge is power" , something that Wilson very much likes to gain, and he likes puns. P.S. My favorite food if I was stuck in dst would probably be either pierogi because I'm from the same region that it originates from, steam ham sandwich or something sweet like fist full of jam.
So, a few theories about why certain foods are their favorites (less like corrections, more like in addition): the taffy is cause saltwater taffy was a classic treat for kids back in the day, and its one of those candies that remain as a traditional staple. So Wanda, being a person that’s been around for a LONG time, it would make sense that she likes the classics. Woodie liking honey nuggets makes sense both dietarily and thematically. It has protein, crucial for muscle (like the moose), and has sugar, great for energy (like the goose or beaver). It’s a balanced dish for someone who’s constantly working, and honey being a common forest thing in the woodlands also makes sense. As for Wurt, I think there’s two reasons for why she likes durian. One, the reason you listed, and two, because she used to be a goat person, and a common joke was that goats will eat anything.
11:14 also, monkeys would probably prefer the raw stuff as opposed to cooked! Monkeys have longer digestive tracts than chimps and even us, so they’re able to get more nutrition from things than we can, and that includes unripe fruit (hell, they evolved to be less picky, so going for anything makes sense, including the raw bananas that they can just pick up and eat, and still get the benefits).
Even though they don’t have canon ones, I came up with what the favorite food choices for the non-DST characters would be. Walani: California Roll. Her dialogue expresses that she has a love for sushi, which is definitely in line with her character. Wilbur: Banana Daiquiri. It’s one of the only banana foods that isn’t taken, and with Wilbur’s royal status it makes sense for him to have the more fancy option. Woodlegs: Fish Tacos. His life on the sea means he likely eats a lot of fish, plus he says he finds the shell delightful. Wheeler: Kabobs. She considers them cooked to “projectile perfection.” That said, if scrambled eggs were in the game, she’d pick those since for any egg based dish she says she was trying (and failing) to make them. Wilba: Waffles. I’m gonna be honest Wilba’s dialogue doesn’t give much in way of her tastes, I just picked Waffles because she says they’re good eats. Wagstaff: Soothing Tea. Wagstaff only considers food “digestible” and never gives actual opinions on them so there’s no real way to say. I just picked Soothing Tea for him because that feels in character.
Actually, Walani says that Seafood Gumbo is her favorite. Also, I'd argue that Woodlegs would like Banana Shake more, as it is found in Pirate Stashes in DST.
Thanks to this video i went on a deep dive on the history of lobster prices and its status as a luxury food. I wanted to refute your point about lobster being an expensive food, since i remembered it used to be really cheap, but the timeline doesnt work out that way. While lobster was once a dirt-cheap poor man's food in New England, it became expensive in the 1850's when it was advertised to immigrants as a novel trendy food on train rides and people loved it. Then overfishing caused lobster populations to plummet and lobster became even more expensive. In Europe, it was always a luxury food, since lobster was always rare there. So it seems that Maxwell would have grown up in Europe, where lobster was expensive, then when he moved to the US it had most likely already become an expensive dish there as well. Doesnt really add anything to your point but i thought it was interesting to look into. Great video overall!
Actually i do want to bring up the symbolism of Maxwell's favorite food being something that was once really cheap but then became a luxury food. Like how he grew up poor but his fame made him rich.
woodie strikes as the guy who likes things to be simple. enjoying a simple life hardwork. and a very simple but overall enjoyable food. like nuggies... plus it may remind him of a childhood snake he enjoyed... but possibly just something he tried once and was like"yep my favorite food.... got the right flavors. unremarkable... but I like it."
Listen, I’m a basic guy. I like plain old cheeseburgers with no veggies, I like classic potato chips and never bother with other flavors, I like plain old ham and cheese sandwiches and, yes, I like eggs and bacon. And just like the basic guy I am, Wilson is my favorite and most played character, but I have some legitimate reasons and head canons as to why his tastes are so standard. The first reason is probably the most expected one: relatability. Since Wilson is most likely be the first character players become familiar with when first starting the game, adding relatability to him, even as a self appointed genius scientist, grounds his character in something that is universally understandable: a simple good meal. And while it’s far from the most interesting or exciting dish compared to the other survivors’s, it’s certainly not a bad choice. I mean, I’m doubt most people have anything negative to say about eggs and bacon. If anything, I’m willing to bet most people like eggs and bacon, even if it’s not a favorite. The second verse is a lot like the first and might explain why eggs and bacon was chosen: as a symbol of normalcy and comfort. Wilson didn’t seem to have much before his time in the cycle. He lived far away from most people, was disrespected by the scientific community he sought to become a part of, and while he may not have been poor, he seemed to be a ways away from well off. That said, I’m not sure he was unhappy. Even in the first trailer, he enjoyed carrying out his experiments and while it’s true he might have been disappointed by the end result, he was clearly excited and happy with the process and the progress. He had a place where he could be left undisturbed and wouldn’t be mocked or laughed at. That was his normal, so for Wilson, Bacon and Eggs might be some small reminder of his comfort zone; a window into a time when things where a lot more comfortable, normal, and simple. On the subject of his past life, Wilson was shown to experiment and test to the point where he has near permanent bags under his eyes. It makes sense that, for someone so thoroughly absorbed in his studies, a simple meal that is both quick and easy to make while being incredibly filling and even tasty on its own, would become a default preference for him. Quick, simple, but effective. And finally, I also admittedly think it’s kind of funny that the “genius” scientist of the game, with all the knowledge he had before, the knowledge he was given by Maxwell, and the knowledge he’s gained during his time in the constant, would heavily favor such a basic dish. But yeah, that’s my TEDtalk defending Wilson because I am an obsessive pedantic nerd who must defend my interests against people who never even attacked them in the first place. Also, I really enjoyed this video😊 it’s cool to see how each survivors’s favorite meal differ and tell you something about their tastes, character, and background. I like hearing about small story stuff like that!
Woodie likes honey nuggets becasue the only good bird is a dead bird! Seriously, hating birds was a core piece of him. Why did Klei make one of his were forms a bird????
Generally it's never a blessing, but a curse to be a were-beast. While the others are more beneficial the bird actually makes sense as a curse placed on Woodie
Another reasoning for Wormwood’s favorite food could be that Cooked Bananas are literally just mush, and we get a quote from Wheeler that Cooked Bananas are “baby food”
6:00 Lobster was considered poverty food a few decades ago. If you ever had one you know why. It's a lot of effort to eat one and they don't look appetizing. 🌈
My headcanon for Wilson's reason for bacon and eggs being his favorite is that eggs are good brain food, and as a scientist he must be keeping his mind as sharp as possible
1:08 Epitome is pronounced “eh-pit-oh-mee”. Blew my mind when I first learned that, I always thought the written form was a completely separate word from the spoken form, but they’re the same!
0:41 The video is great, but there's a small mistake. In our languages (Slavic languages), 'baba' means an old woman or grandmother, not like father, grandfather, and brother
I think partly Webber likes ice cream because his human half lived on a farm with goats, so it's likely dairy products were common in his meals, and it's one of the few dishes that feature it
I always thought cooked bananas were wormwoods favorite because cooking them makes all the nutrients super bioavailable-- a cooked banana must be like a warm, sweet, healing treat for him!
Thought the video was about who they like the most when the notification popped up. Like who each char get along the best with. Still great video! Don't know if u'll see this but that'd be a great idea for a video =)
5:38 Additionally for lobster it used to be a symbol of poverty and seen as poor man food then it became a high status symbol. Maxwell (William Carter) used to be a failed magician with a large debt. Then once he found the codex umbra he became high class and seemingly rich. Maxwell is a lobster.
Turkey Dinner matches a common method in the old world for serving meat with fruit that was utilized heavily by the Scandinavians. We don't tend to do that nowadays besides cranberry sauce with turkey for thanksgiving.
chickens are most common when making nuggets, and are birds, which live in trees, as well, bees don't just build nests on trees, but also in them. ergo, all of the ingredients can be found on or in trees.

Doesnt really add anything to your point but i thought it was interesting to look into. Great video overall!
Actually i do want to bring up the symbolism of Maxwell's favorite food being something that was once really cheap but then became a luxury food. Like how he grew up poor but his fame made him rich.
11:18 Risk of what RISK OF RAIN *rain formerly known as purple starts going crazy*
Omg I was thinking of making that reference when editing it. Glad you made it for me :D
woodie strikes as the guy who likes things to be simple. enjoying a simple life hardwork. and a very simple but overall enjoyable food. like nuggies... plus it may remind him of a childhood snake he enjoyed... but possibly just something he tried once and was like"yep my favorite food.... got the right flavors. unremarkable... but I like it."
11:05 that is a great reference I’m surprised nobody is talking about it
Listen, I’m a basic guy.
Irony
In his own words: if you can't beat em, join em.
I didn’t know that’s cool to know
I think Warly's favorite food would be Mussel Bouillabaisse because it helped their grandmother remember who he was
My robotic overlord, how could you!
I love how Woody just says "No" to every lore video. His Lore is just a pile of unanswered questions in the corner of the room.
I think your favourite is the constant food that resembles to your national food.
10:43 FEAR AND HUNGER
Y'know, if they really wanted maxwell to be the worst character, they could have added black licorice, were every character hated it, but maxwell
that fear and hunger sound effect was like a jumpscare
wilson needs to eat bacon and eggs so he can cut meat into 2 smaller pieces while Warly watches in awe
My headcanon for Wilson's reason for bacon and eggs being his favorite is that eggs are good brain food, and as a scientist he must be keeping his mind as sharp as possible
"ah! youtuber biddobams! i hope your ready for an unforgettable luncheon!"
I love that bloons reference at the end
I adore bloons, I couldn't not reference it :D
1:08
Epitome is pronounced “eh-pit-oh-mee”.
Blew my mind when I first learned that, I always thought the written form was a completely separate word from the spoken form, but they’re the same!
You're kidding me? I thought they were 2 different words too!
0:41 The video is great, but there's a small mistake. In our languages (Slavic languages), 'baba' means an old woman or grandmother, not like father, grandfather, and brother
Bananas contain phosphorus which helps plants grow larger fruit. Probably also why it's Wormwood's favourite.
This makes it a lot easier to remember them, especially those I don’t find necessarily intuitive.
I think partly Webber likes ice cream because his human half lived on a farm with goats, so it's likely dairy products were common in his meals, and it's one of the few dishes that feature it
I always thought cooked bananas were wormwoods favorite because cooking them makes all the nutrients super bioavailable-- a cooked banana must be like a warm, sweet, healing treat for him!
also cooked bananas are super mushy like baby food and wormwood is technically an infant =)
I think winona's beverage is supposed to be a bloody mary, which is an alcoholic drink.
Maxwell is a lobster.
yas finally i got from the motion b with some very nice meat form The Dear my best foods.
WX likes the Buttermuffin, because its full of bugs
kneeslapper
Taffy is not really hard candy, they are more like a super sticky chewy gum
Turkey Dinner matches a common method in the old world for serving meat with fruit that was utilized heavily by the Scandinavians. We don't tend to do that nowadays besides cranberry sauce with turkey for thanksgiving.
My favorite dish would probably be the Hamlet exclusive Feijoada to keep the stereotype consistent 😆
chickens are most common when making nuggets, and are birds, which live in trees, as well, bees don't just build nests on trees, but also in them. ergo, all of the ingredients can be found on or in trees.
It all makes sense! He eats those that he hates.. and that he hates? Lives in what he chops.
My favourite food in game and IRL is creamy potato puree. Be sure to add garlic and a pinch of ginger
I should not be responding to these comments when hungry huh
thats the thing with woodie he has jackshit for lore and i love him for that
I betcha in a few years we're going to get more lore for lucy than woodie himself
Thanks Woodie for soley existing
I love him for that so much
The cast of don’t starve, we got a mad scientist, a pyrokinetic arsonist, girl who wields her dead child sister as a weapon, Dude From Canada
I heard that fear and hunger *THWUUUMMMMMP* music lol
Glad somebody noticed it :))
I like the question mark by the end of the title KAKSKAKSKA
woodie has always been a mystery
Indeed, though considering he’s shown to have forehead scars, is catholic, and talks to Lucy like she’s his wife. I have some harebrained guesses.
Why Thier favorite food give more hunger but not more sanity?
Honestly that would make WAY more sense!
yippie!
starting with wanda made my day :)
I think my fave food would probably be filled eggplants? Cause it looks the yummiest, I think. Asparagus soup, fancy spiralled tubbers and salsa fresca also looks really good.
Guardian’s horn, why because I’m insane
Oh my gosh I forgot that was edible. Terrible choice
@@BiddoBamss to be fully honest say you really like the houndious, I also add you don’t know how to spell hound ears studious, so just pretend it says that I prefer doing fights by my self.
honey nuggets are probably based on honey dill a manitoba canada exclusive usually served with chicken finger or wedges they're DELICIOUS
That was a fun vid. It made me feel good inside.
Wolfgang is a German name and in Germany we even have Kartofelnsalat.
Wolfgang is a mess of European stereotypes it's really hard to pin point where he's from my bet is Russia but he traveled Europe with the circus
@@scpfoundation2040 there's no way with such a name unless he changed it.
@@scpfoundation2040 definitely not
@@Ne_Ne_Vova_UA well with things like him saying frog legs being a delicacy in his country and him being a communist which is a Russian stereotype it's hard to exactly say where he's from
@@scpfoundation2040 how is he a communist? And frog legs are delicacy in a lot of places.
My actual favorite food is gumbo but the one in dst is specifically seafood gumbo which i don't like, so the dst favorite would probably just be cooked meat since steaks are always nice
this is very creative.
thank u :)
10:43 That Fear and Hunger music jumpscared me.
If I was stuck in the constant my favorite food would be waffles. Cause they would make me think of my family and the times we had waffles together. Cause of that the sanity waffles give me would be 10 instead of 5. My quote for waffles would be "I miss the waffles mom and dad used to make".
Klei should make Wonkey able to throw darts without a blow dart
Can you do a video on each survivors' favorite survivor? It would be nice to talk about interactions between them.
i'd probably have a fun time with banana shakes, i like to make it so that i get my hands on any sort of smoothie or milkshake at least once a day because mmm food
Thought the video was about who they like the most. Like who each char get along the best with. Don't know if u'll see this but that'd be a great idea for a video =)
7:25 that honey looks like tree sap and the nuggets look like tree bark
I like how some people thinks the smell of durian are absalute horrid and some thinks it smell very nice
Yeah! I've also heard that some people hate the smell of it, until they taste it. The connection in the brain gets rewired to "Wait this actually is kinda nice nvm"
Banana's and their peels make for great fertilizers due to the sugars and high content of things such as potassium.
Me personally I like snatching the deerclops eyeball from my team and eating it in front of them
I must add that durians are smelly but not often have bad of a smell, just a strong one.
And it may be gross, but after trying one out, you wont regret it
I think warly doesn’t have a favorite food since his favorite food would probably be his mothers cooking
I think Woodie favourite food is honey nuggets because it’s is traditionally made bird meat and he hates birds
God I Love the Werther's *Especially* the butterscotch and caramel ones
I heard fear and hunger music, you know what that means
I am outside your house and have replaced your bed with the crow mauler bed, you can have your bed back after either making a funger video, or handing me the miasma
I was gonna make fun of potatoes being european steriotype but I got a bag of them I sometimes cook to eat...so ehh...
Same... and Tig loves a good potato too...
10:43 long time no see old comrade. Haven't heard you since a certain ending S.
Wanda's headcannon is just true
10:14 you absolute fool, didn't get this sheet british exquisiteness
Fun fact! Warlys favourite food is honey nuggets!
i enjoy your videos thank you biddo
Nice Funger reference lol 10:43
I assumed woodies was because the nuggets look a little like pine cones
plays pulse and anxiety for a monkey
