I personally consider him the best to ever pick up a guitar. No one can reach the heights Derek does on a regular basis. His dynamic range and phrasing is sublime. He is in a whole other league from even the historic greats.
Like I've said before Susan and Derek are both second generation musicians who learned their style of playing old school blues from listening to their fathers and they feature songs they play in pretty much the same style as the way their fathers did and their harmonies sometimes sound eerily like they are being played by their fathers channeled through Derek and Susan, who quite obviously were influenced by the music of their father's style of playing as they were growing up , and now days the Trucks-Tedesche band is one 1⃣ of the best old school blues acts in the music industry worldwide and they are true ambassadors of blue eyed blues pretty much worldwide at least as far as where they tour goes 😊😅😮😢😂❤😂😊❤😊❤

Slide or no slide, Derek's phrasing is virtually impeccable. No one - not one single guitarist actively playing - can match it. Period.
