This man’s a menace! You can’t contain him! Builder, model maker, political activist, costume designer, male model. :) Inspiring as always Dave. Happy Birthday from the UK.
Dave starts laying out white fabric and a white jacket - "There's no way he's going to make this costume from the thumbnail here." Dave proceeds to make the costume from the thumbnail.
What a great build! I love to see two different iterations of the same "build" by you and Adam. It's fun and instructive to see different methodologies of the same project. (I.e. soldering station, costume, or end tables) Happy Birthday David!😮
I love everything about this costume! I love the subversive “VOTE” skull, I love how you made the tie line up with the shirt, I love that it’s all hand-drawn and painted, and I love that - as a professional model maker - you only paint what the camera will see! Why paint the entire shirt? Dave, I am sub’ed to over 200 channels, and yours has quickly become one of my favorites! When you get back to SF, maybe you could collab with Adam again and get another bump in views and subs? Your high-quality content deserves a much wider audience than us lucky few that found you early on!
Amazing video. Nice, exceptionally important, not so hidden message. But man....., the smack in the face with the spot on pattern matching that came out of nowhere..... I tip my hat to you sir.
Loved the video! When I first moved to Maine in 96 I lived in a tiny cabin in the NW mountains with no electricity, or running water and I had the same wood stove. Needless to say, I quickly upgraded to something air tight since it was winter (as you and I both know that thing can't hold a fire longer than three hours). Man, I felt the first three minutes of this video, because I remember my oil freezing all of the time! As a retired social studies teacher I loved the graceful civics PSA, and as artist I dig your attention to detail - not only in the costume, but also with your video. Have a blast in Portland, and safe travels back to the San Francisco!
I believe it's fair to say that it's the most extreme dutch angle possible - splitting the line between vertical and horizontal format. Let's just agree to call that a Double Dutch.
I'm inspired! I see that you are using Lacquard Textile paints, can you tell me where you picked up the suit? This is the first video of yours I have watched and I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work! :)
When I put on the suit for the first time, in a rush to get those last shots, the paint on the collar was still a bit wet, apparently. I was just told, two days later, that the back of my neck was red.
Dave, love the video (as always) and yes: things are happening in the wide world (some of it absolutely awful) but this project (and any we do) helps us cope and get through the times! I myself have spent the last 3.5 months making my very first Artoo Detoo. And also yes: vote! Vote for yourself, vote for those you love, and vote for those you don’t even know! Vote to make this world a better place for us all!

Menace to myself! Thanks for dropping by.

Have to deliver on the thumbnail! I think that's TH-cam law.
So satisfying how everything lines up.
I spend the vast majority of my time making things line up.
When I saw the " - I'm temporary - " text, I couldn't help but think " - Me too! - "
The suit looks incredible! Orange is such a lovely color.
Thanks so much.
You always have the best videos. I admire you in so many ways man.
Appreciated -

Sorry, that was supposed to be😃
Thank you!
Great idea! I also need a costume for a party in two weeks. Might also try such a non-costume costume.
Would love to see it!
not what i expected, exactly what i needed to see. 👏🏼
Fabulous.

Thanks so much for chiming in, and I’ll certainly be doing some more things with Savage this winter.
Can’t thank you enough! It means a lot to know I’m not shouting into the void.

Thanks so much! It didn't occur to me that the pattern match didn't reveal until the end...I stumble into things more often than not.
Finally a suite that I could wear
Fabulous - perhaps there's a need for altsuits. (trademark)

Wonderful - thank you for the thoughtful comment.
Happy birthday Dave!
Thank you!
Stupendous!
A word I don't utilize nearly enough. Thank you!
Hey I made it in early this time. Happy Birthday Dave, another great video. Love the suit, very creative...and well said...Thank you! Take care!
When you get here early, you catch me sitting with a beer or two responding to the first big round of comments. Thanks for stopping by!
Awesome
Thanks!
Happy Birthday! Mine is the 18th and we early voted too
Hey - happy birthday!
What a joy to watch!
So glad!
An excellent blend of whimsy and harsh reality. Thank you. And yes, my fellow Americans, please vote. Sometimes it's the only power we have.
Thanks for that.
love the costume non-costume costume, happy birthday!
Thanks so much!
BTW, is that "studio orange"?
Nope. It’s the red that was available from a recommended fabric paint.
Was that a “double dutch angle” for the reveal?

It’s odd bits and pieces of things I had lying around - largely from the Burning Man storage bin. Glad you found us!
I love that there’s other veteran designers out there that just use the eraser tool and not make a mask for everything.
Hah! Love it.
What is the fabric paint?
Lacquard Textile. It’s great stuff.
TSA: Sir, why does your luggage smell like fresh paint?
Dave: Funny story.....

Ah, the old Olive Oil Solidity Index.
Fail proof.

Nicely said. Thanks for that. Good luck with R2! He's a good guy to have around.
See you tomorrow. I think my costume can compete. We may need your followers to weigh in.
See you today, my aggressive costuming friend!
Okay. I'll VOTE! I vote to unsubscribe. You won't miss me...
For promoting active participation in American democracy? Fair enough. You'll be missed!
Happy Birthday Dave!
Thank you! (It's rare that I do much of anything for my birthday, let alone mention it to thousands of people.)
