Thanks! Version one of this place was relatively beige. We lived in London for three years and when I returned and saw it with fresh eyes I immediately decided that it would not do.
Dave well done this is delightful your home looks lovely congratulations many of us long to have a home that we can decorate so thoroughly . please count this as a blessing🎉
Hey Dave, I love this! I've thought about doing something similar but was always certain I wouldn't be able to pull it off, you certainly did, looks great! Glad to see you replaced the volume in your library, man after my own heart. Thank you for the video...NOT boring indeed 👍
I wasn't too sure myself, but I'm a big big fan of being brave and believing a pathway exists. (This project truly almost fell apart though - as close as I've come to a complete train wreck in a long time.)
Result: not boring! I can't stress enough how much I love your videos. Your narration of the creation process, hoops and bumps along the way, is genuinely riveting to me. I remain totally impressed by your artistry, especially the embrace of imperfection and material. I think your Maine video, where you deliberately cast concrete in a way that would allow for imperfection to occur, will forever stick with me. The result was beautiful, and I think it says something larger about life itself. Thanks!
Boring?!?! Never! Your house is great! Have you and Asam exchanged books in your respective libraries? He also has a lot of books. Thankyou for the weekly video's Dave! I hope you and your family have a safe and happy new year!
If we owned our home, I’d be going wild with the interior. I can’t stand the magnolia and beige that most landlords insist on… pictures on the walls and furniture can only go so far. One day (or never, probably) but until then we can look at your fabulous abode. Chiming in on another comment, yes, let’s have a Cinodrome guide to paint brush cleaning.
Funny you ask that. I don’t consider this a how-to channel, but as I was washing out my brush earlier, the same brush I’ve been using for maybe 15 years, I thought to myself, everyone should know how to wash out a brush properly!
Not being a how-to channel I probably won’t ever do anything about that, so…I run warm water over the brush while swirling the bristles it in my palm. Once the water runs clear I repeat with dish soap. Repeat. It takes time and seems like a bit much, but brushes last a long time that way. I do it in a slop sink into a bucket. The acrylic paint settles to the bottom…dump the water later…save the bucket.
wonderful idea and wonderful... "save" I guess. a friend of mine, a long time ago, had a bunch of the walls of his tattoo studio covered in comics book pages he like. always stuck with me as a concept, this really give it another level.
Thanks for another great video. Love to see the process when it works and when it doesn't. Too many videos sanitize the process and focus only on the results. Cheers
Zinssner (spelling?) It's what my local hardware store has. Having never used anything else, I can't speak to its quality, but it certainly does the job.
Your ability to paint without taping is a life goal.
I’ve been working at it for a long time and I’m not nearly as good as some. There is, of course, no shortage of technique videos on The TH-cam.
The muting of the colors and the sponge texture worked significantly better than I thought!
You and me both…
Just wonderful. In a world where people are in love with beige monotones and dull houses yours is delightful.

I do! Thanks much.
amazing vid
Hey Dave, What a cool way to see you(r house) after all of these years. Happy holidays ;-)
Dig the Stereolabby soundtrack. Mary Hansen would approve of this reno, I bet.
6:08 - "far too opaque....*clearly*" Ba-dum-TSSSSS 🥁
Hah! (I hate to admit it took me a long minute...)
I dig your style.
I dig your vibe.
I def dig your aesthetic. Final product ROCKS!
I could use some help. My house is boring.
Well make it less boring already!

Wonderfully said and greatly appreciated. It’s just what I’m aiming for.

Would love a rundown on how you clean your brushes, mixers, rollers etc

Thanks so much.
Every vid I see with you, makes me wish more and more I'd got that spot in the Digital Model Shop way back when...
Did I interview you?!
Another fantastic and inspiring video. It looks great.
Thank you!

just curious as to the wallpaper adhesive you use. Roman? or the Zinzner stuff is what I have around these parts

I’d love to do something like this but it would take some campaigning to get the wife on board. Very cool.
Ask her to choose the book!
FYI, your address is shown in the video. i just figured you might want to blur that out.
Wow - thank you! (Time to learn how to edit a video after posting...)
Done...thanks again.
I think you maybe meant 2024 at 0:06 . I thought maybe it was some sort of flashback for a couple minutes.
Good grief! I'm moving too fast.
@@cinodrome Better than moving too slow!
