- IN THIS VIDEO: Welcome to may very first rare vlog! From now when whenever there is a rare, instead of narrating, I'll still narrate and make a vlog as well giving the general information of the rare. And today was the mother of all rares!! First landing in history of the Antonov An-225 Mriya. Here is how is started:
We got the word on Friday which I posted on TH-cam and the Toronto Pearson Aviation Group. Starting on Saturday, the route was Kiev-Leipzig-Doncaster-Keflavik-Goose Bay-Toronto. Kiev-Leipzig was completed Saturday. The route from Leipzig-Doncaster should have been completed on Saturday evening but was pushed to Sunday morning. This also pushed the arrival time at the airports forward a day, for Toronto, it was supposed to be November 16 at 11:30pm but the new one was November 17 at 6:30am. The rest of the flight from Doncaster-Keflavik-Goose Bay was all flown overnight on Sunday. And I can tell you, I didn't sleep much, only 4 hours. Then came Goose Bay-Toronto. Monday morning arrival time was 6:41am pushed to 7:09am, since it had to enter a hold. Predicted right it did land at RWY 05, did catch the landing but the focus sadly got in the way, again, with all the lighting. She was huge!
We then headed to the Infield where there were more people and to tell you the truth, it was parked in the best way ever. Facing almost right at you. We stayed to get some more shots, and even caught the nose opening! What luck and several more shots including the cargo and what it might be containing inside the aircraft, according to Canadian aviation News it's mining and welding equipment! Anyways, that was all, aircraft is to remain here until Wednesday when it will depart, at 7:00am, destination still being unknown. Finished it off and that was it, the first Antonov An-225 Mriya Landing at Toronto Pears Int'l. history in the making.

www.thestar.com/news/gta/2014/11/17/worlds_largest_plane_touches_down_at_pearson.html
Way to go Ernest!
Thanks a lot! Yup, I got interviewed the other day on a phone call from my Twitter account. It was the reporter who asked for the interview, and I gave it to him, for sure a lot of people congratulated me, thanks for sharing!
Just noticed last night that TorStar reporter Sam actually emailed me asking for interview too on Monday...but the email went to Junk folder... :)
Oh ok, wow.
Nice!!! Where do you get the info for this bird on his routes?
Thanks! I get the info from Flight Radar 24 on Twitter, or you can go on the A225 groups on Facebook.
That's me walking around
Oh awesome!! We kind of got jealous at those working at the airport, lol, we wanted to get so close too.
Holy SHIT I'm Hungarian too! I JUST REALIZED!
Sweet! Yup, I've seen you before, Daniel Katona, recognized it, you just joined Toronto Pearson Aviation, I'm the Admin, Ernest Gutschik :)
What came out?? What was it carrying?
Thanks! It was carrying mining and welding equipment.
She doesn't look that big in the video but then again videos and pictures don't do things any justice.
THATS MY CRANE!!!
Do you mean you were driving the crane?
CenturyHornet no bro i own it :) Trevor is the tall guy who is my operator
CenturyHornet if you want pics of the inside let me know i think trevy might have even got the cockpit
Sure yea go ahead, would like to send them in email? :)
I KNEW IT!! I heard it was going to Toronto and I immediatly thought about you!! And off course you got it! I was really hoping you could get an awesome shot of it landing over that famous petrolstation, but yea the conditions were hopeless sadly! Good thing it created some great vortex! I hope to see your take off footage very soon! And please listen to me: take good ear protection with you! This year I spotted the AN124 for the very first time. I got it on take off and I was allmost completely deaf for a few minutes because of that very loud sound! Here is my video of that deafening take off if you are curieus how that sounded. th-cam.com/video/u27qcGUiGok/w-d-xo.html
Rudi van Goch Thanks Rudi! Appreciate it! Got your message and I will take some protection, thanks!
