I've only seen this once, and i was completely faded at the time. But i think he was saying that there are battles in life that can never be won, and that learning to accept where you are at, rather than being pissed for not reaching the end goal helped him. The lyrics are specific to Ren’s struggles with illness as he has Lymes Disease but it was misdiagnosed for over a decade and he was/is seriously ill and receiving stem cell treatment in Canada presently. He also does all his own beats, production, plays guitar, bass, piano, he’s just a genius all round. You for real and thank you for sharing that with us. We got you. We appreciate you. Much ❤

I didn't see if someone explained the end speech, it took me a couple views to totally get, so don't sweat it, but I did see the pinned comment where the Renegades had your back right off the jump, just minutes after doing your first Ren song. I'm an old head, seen a lot of things in my life, but I ain't seen nothing like Ren or his fans, they may get a little excited and throw a lot of specific ways and orders to react to Ren songs, but it comes from a good place, all you gotta do is say "whoa hold up, you guys are overwhelming me" and they'll totally understand, they got big hearts, are VERY supportive of other Renegades and reactors in general, welcome to the Ren rabbit hole my man!! Just remember, no matter how many requests or suggestions you get, it's YOUR CHANNEL, and YOUR path down the rabbit hole, so at the end of the day, you do you, and check out Ren content as you see fit.
As far as the song, the good Ren pretty much represents our regular selves, the person we are day to day, and who we strive to be, the evil Ren can be different things for different people, but most broadly, it's that inner voice, think of the devil and angel on each shoulder. It's that self doubt we all have, that often tells us we're not good enough, or criticizes us causing self doubt, a subconscious thing.
The speech at the end he was speaking more of his health issues, he has Lyme Disease (humans most often get it from tick bites), and that causes autoimmune disease, meaning your immune system doesn't work right and plays havoc with your whole body. Thing is, tick bites are rare in England, so they misdiagnosed him with mental health issues, and the Lyme Disease went untreated for 7-8 years before he got the proper diagnosis. The whole time doctors telling him it's all in his head and throwing pills at him.
What he meant about it "never being a battle for him to win" and the pendulum is, some struggles people have in life can't be won or lost. When he first had the disease he fought it, and denied it, and was soooo angry that he was going through it, but eventually he realized that even after he got proper treatment it's something he would most likely have issues with his whole life. So instead of allowing himself to let the disease control him and make him miserable, he learned to work with it or around it (like dancing aka eternal dance), and focus on what he could do, instead of focusing on his limitations. For other people it could be other diseases, or mental health struggles like depression or PTSD, or it could be addiction, all those things are never truly "overcome", we learn to live with them, get to understand them, so we can minimize the negative effects as much as possible.
The pendulum represents the struggle, sometimes we live with our struggle and things are great, but sometimes we fall down and have a rough go of it, that's the light and the dark the pendulum swings between. All angels know is good, they live in the light 24/7, demons only know the dark, and gods only know power and supremacy, they all have their rolls to play, no questions asked. Humans on the other hand swing between the light and the dark, and have to learn to manage that swinging. That is why we must not forget, that we are human beings, and to give ourselves a break once in a while. ✌💚

Genuine reaction, and yes it's A LOT.
For Ren not a joke, but to help people feel less alone, less othered, to be voice for the voiceless.
I cried so much when I first heard this, was sobbing. And I didn't think I could cry like that anymore. The more I explored Ren music, the more healing I had. Yes, a lot of tears, but happy tears along with angry, and grief.
And I've felt true joy and true deep hope more times in the past 15months than I had in years before that. I feel less alone, more safe with myself, that I feel at all is still a surprise.
Can promise if you listen to more Ren, you will start to see why so many from all walks of life have come together over his music. Doesn't matter religion, politics, country, age, diagnosis, race, gender...
We all found ways to bridge divides we thought impossible, and find common ground or at least have respectful discussion rather than reactionary fear.
Ren was wonderful to find in my 40s. I didn't think could feel this way about music and about humans in general anymore. And now I'm 43, and yes still love reactions to this. Only one I disliked which was really just poking fun at his insanity, and that people like him are possessed by demons and need to embrace Jesus to get better, and that this is his fault.
So many hundreds of reactions to this one song, and only one I didn't like.
    Thank you.

Dope reaction bro, glad you liked it. I honestly didn't think you were going to like this one. He has super fire stuff from every genre you can think of. (Except country, don't think I've heard him try that yet.)
P.S. A little back story, when he's talking about illness he has Lyme disease and it was misdiagnosed for almost ten years and they had him on meds for stuff he didn't have that was causing psychotic episodes and other stuff. They finally got it figured out and he has been going to Canada for a while to get it treated.

He is talking about the "dark" side of your consciousness. This is the negative voices in your head that tell you that cannot succeed, you are worthless. He battled with this voice through years of sickness, being bed ridden for years with misdiagnosed Lyme disease and having psychosis from meds given to him by doctors that told him it was all in his head. The ending dialog is about how you cannot 'defeat' the dark side of your consciousness. It is something that will always be present so you must learn to 'dance' with it. The more you fight it, the more difficult it becomes. The higher the highs are, the lower the lows are(the darker the shadow it casts). Once you come to terms with this and relax, the easier the balance between the highs and lows, the darkness and light. True words of wisdom. You will get more insight if you watch "Sick Boi" video.

I think his final statement is multi-layered. Yes, he is talking about the internal struggle, but I think is also talking about the vagaries of life. It is often the best of times that lead to the worst times in your life (and with Ren making music about his worst times is now seeing huge success). Trying to find a balance in both self and everyday life.

  • @noorieiversen
    @noorieiversen 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

He means that all human beings battle with dark thoughts and thoughts of success, thoughts of good, and evil, we fight internally. He is saying we can't win. We will always sway between the light and dark in a metaphorical dance. Don't be too hard on yourself, be relaxed, and that internal fight will be easier. Forgive yourself and let things go. ❤

I am 75 years old. I have been battling with myself - my mental self - almost my entire life. It does get old over time. Believe me, I am tired of it, but I do have those GOOD days where I like myself and what I am doing and doing it well. But I just get tired, you know just tired of always being "on" and forgetting to just be myself, who I am. It does get hard to just be who we are, I don't get much negativity from other people, my friends are loyal, if I have enemies I have no idea, I am more negative to myself. Like Ren said we have to learn to relax and start to love ourselves for who we are, except we are not perfect. You be you Don, if people know you, your friends and family, then they are the ones that will be honest with you, so be open and fair from comments that can go either way, and they don't you. Work on your talents, relax and learn to carry yourself to your own power. Find your POWER.

In simpler and rough words - he says that this "battle" of good and evil in us is natural, and there's no point in trying to be only the good part of us. Because we won't succeed anyway. We just need to accept that the two live in us simultaneously and need to make the communication of these two sides more smooth so that it won't hurt ourselves.
    That's what I get from Ren's message.
I had a time in my life when I almost got two different personalities in myself and couldn't deal with the situation anymore, so I visited my psychiatrist for help. And there was an enlightening and quite shoking moment for me when he asked why I want to get rid of the "bad" person in me. He told that if I wanted to be the "good" person I just need to give it more time, to try to develop that side of me rather than spending my resources on the battle against the "bad". I'm not sure he said exactly that, but that's what I got, and it did help me with my situation.
I think that Ren says the same. We need to accept that we cannot be perfect and that's ok.

Welcome to the multitalented genius Ren. This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. A powerful icing on the Ren-cake if you will 😅 He is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art.
I trust that other RENegades will fill you in on his backstory and probably recommend Sick Boi for insight into his frustrations from being misdiagnosed for years. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.
Also if you want to understand the man behind the art (and why we all love him so dearly), check out his 1m subscribers video on defining success. Ren is not just a brilliant artist but a genuinely good human being who wants to inspire positive change in the world.

You are wise to admit when you're confused or don't understand. I'm 56 and still have to remind myself it's ok to say I don't understand something. Ren has a vocabulary that is larger than a librarian's and sometimes talks about really difficult topics. You did an excellent and honest review!
And never give up on dreams! Ren was sick in bed for over 10 years. It was his own desire to understand why he was so sick, that helped him finally find out he has Lyme Disease. You are looking for answers just like Ren. Different situations but the same desire to understand! Never give up!

We have to relax and allow our mistakes or negativity just as we accept our successes and good deeds. We have many years (hopefully) on this planet. Maybe don't waste them beating ourselves down. The eternal struggle is the battle to whether to do good or do bad or just whatever benefit you the most. He said this separate us from angels, demons and gods. The ability to choose whether we do good or bad. That’s the human predicament. Angels always do good demons Always do bad and gods always do what is just. Humans have to decide with each thing that comes up whether they do good or bad.
Ren has limes disease which eats away at the Milan sheathing in your brain and causes horrible problems, including psychosis. He was misdiagnosed for a long time given the wrong medications For like 10 years.
Something that I’ve never heard anyone mention is the first part of the blast little sweet she does where he says he wishes he shouted out into an empty room into a blank canvas. The part that you missed was when he said that he and Ren were to different sides of the same coin. So accept your mental struggle and dance with your demons rather than wasting time battling them. That voice protected our ancestors by telling them that the chasm was too wide to jump and too deep to survive the fall, so don’t even try to jump it. Now, that inner voice seeks to scare us from rejection, from trying new foods, traveling new adventures, asking out the woman we find so attractive, or for help from a friend. It’s the voice that tells us we’re not good enough or that we don’t deserve better. Battling that voice is not a battle we can’t win. It knows every possible argument we may throw at it and it has a ‘darker’ shadow to cast as its response. So, as Ren suggests, don’t battle that negative inner voice. We can either succumb to it and let our fear stop us. Or, we can be a student, learn from our fears, and find healthy strategies to move thru them and toward our goals. The more we can relax and soften those inner fears, the easier it becomes to always be moving thru them. We are all human beings. We all have that inner voice. Some are encouraged a lot, as children and adolescents, to deal with that voice in healthy ways. A lot of us were not. Ren, is reaching out to us all to let us know we are not alone, we do not need to hide it, and that there is hope to overcome the struggle, if we seek it. Warm wishes, bro. Look forward to seeing more reaction videos from you.

Ren is basically accepting that his symptoms are permanent (thus not a battle to "win" but an eternal dance), and that acceptance has helped him manage things better. That is the abridged explanation. :)

the message is, the dark side and light side of our personalities aren't different things, not really - we need to learn to balance, to control our urges, to manage the light and the dark in our lives, to take the best parts of both, and find a healthy path. Something that's exacerbated by mental illness, but it affects everyone. We, as humans, all have positive and negative thoughts and impulses, and if we strike the best balance of those thoughts and feelings, that's where we thrive the most.
So it's not "good Ren bad Ren" in the video, it's a struggle with his own impulses, insecurities, desires, dreams, and fears.
the pendulum, it's that things get good, and get bad, and sway between, and the better things get, the worse the bad times too. The dance is learning to balance, and when he learned to relax, finding a balance became easier, so he could manage his life in a way where he was honest with himself, and didn't give in to the fears, instead using that as motivation to be better.

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song.
Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates.
As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important.
It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it.
*Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison.
You are *stronger* than that voice.
You are stronger than you can *possibly* know…
until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

I’m 38 years old.. and if I had to choose from all the most important lessons in life, it would be to not follow the crowd unless they are encouraging you to follow your heart. Being “cool” and not being true to yourself will greatly affect your ability to grow as a person. If you have a passion for something, then embrace it…. The coolest thing you could ever be is your genuine self ❤ the cool kids will say this sounds corny and the beautiful part of growing and evolving is that their opinion means nothing to me!!!!

The sweet ain't sweet if there is no sour. As humans we are both good and evil. without both sides we wouldn't know how to tell one from another.
The more you curse and demonize yourself, the worse you will feel. The more you praize youself the more you will feel superior wich is a bad thing as well.
Life is about balance in all matters. We need to struggle on the tightrope - that is the only good there is. Hope. Any extreme or static position will eventually tear us down...
Keep moving, keep dancing, keep learning, keep living. Keep hope alive!

His buddy Sam Tompkins is got a silky voice! Enjoy the ride, I here to enjoy your journey!!! Keep going! The tale of Jenny and Screech and Violets tail is a must see! He was misdiagnosed for years, he had Lime Disease but they thought it was just in his head! He spent the next 10 years in bed 23 hours a day in pain from all the effects from Lime Disease and the wrong drugs the doctors prescribed! He is better now but battles every day fighting off the Lime Disease. He finally got the correct diagnosis from some doctors in Canada. He is from the UK!

Peer pressure and the need and desire to fit in and belong are real. As much as we relish our individual selves, it can be hard to do when you're alone at lunch or on the playground...especially if you're doing something that goes against the grain.
When I first found his video, I was like "What is goin' on in here?" But I kept going and was so, so glad I did. It's really amazing. Everyone takes something different away from watching, and it's something we all needed and didn't know we did.

First bro, if you want to learn guitar or piano then start. I'm only sayin that cuz I'm you. I'm 45 years old and when I was younger I wanted to be a drummer. Mom wouldn't get me drums cuz they were too much for our little house. I blamed my mom for like 30 years that I wasn't a drummer. See that, I was an adult, in charge of my own destiny, still blaming someone else for my problems. I wasted so many years thinking it was my past that predestined my future, but now I know it's ACTUALLY MY PRESENT! Start doing what you want right now.
At 20 I bought myself some DJ gear which to be honest was a lot more stuff back then. I started to teach myself how to match beats and mix music. Today I mix all types of music and I'm a very prolific DJ. I'm still not a drummer, but one ay I will buy a set and learn. I no longer can put any blame on anyone but myself for not doing. Much love, keep pushing.

He's talking about the human condition generally. He just used his own life as an example of the battles that we all face, both internally and externally, in the world around us. The darkness can't be banished. It's part of life, part of existence and helps make us who we are. Once we accept this simple truth and stop wasting time and emotional energy on trying to win a battle that is unwinnable, life becomes a little easier and the dark things become a little easier to deal with. Every cloud really does have a silver lining and that silver lining may be filled with untold riches but you need to go through the cloud to reach them. Clouds are part of life and life becomes easier when we accept this. :)

  • @donnap9547
    @donnap9547 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I truly loved your reaction. But I am more impressed with you. First, just to help you out with Ren's monologue at the end... I believe he is trying to explain that when he came out of his deepest darkest days of mental illness (which was all brought on by his misdiagnosis of Lyme's disease for many, many years, and the wrong meds that were given to him which had very bad effects on his brain and body) he was able to see that for him it wasn't a battle to be won over dark times, but it was a pendulum going back and forth from very bad days to good days. And he struggled with that until he realized it was easier to accept (instead of fight against) the bad days, and that good days would come. He called this an "eternal dance." And he still goes through that (as a lot of us do) but tries to go easy on himself and accept that the dark and light are a part of life. I don't mean to sound like this is the solution for all mental illness, and I send my prayers and good wishes to your Mom.
But YOU. I was so impressed by your curiosity and willingness to understand and ask for help. Please don't worry about what others think (namely haters), and don't ever let that hold you back from being curious about ANYTHING. I can see you are an extremely bright young man with an inquisitive mind. That's what is going to bring you to a whole universe of things to learn. Don't stop exploring.
Finally, Ren's got some incredible, diverse, music to be explored - some with deep messages, and some for just pure fun. He is a genius and incredible artist and talent. I've subbed in hopes that you'll explore more! Take care, and pick up that guitar ... you've got your whole life in front of you.

Ren was misdiagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Bipolar and as a result he was given meds and treatments that did more harm to him than good. It wasn't till many years later Ren was finally properly found to have Lyme Disease. Meanwhile before he was finally properly diagnosed, he was relegated to his bedroom for years, riddled with pain, neuropathy and psychosis. The meds he was given caused adverse affects on his physical and mental state and caused long term damage. Ren is currently in Calgary Canada finishing up a series of treatments which mitigate the affects of the Lyme Disease, but also undo much of the damage done by the improper medications and treatments. Hence his statement at the end of Hi-Ren, he vowed to fight mysterious Illness and as he said, sadly it was a battle he nearly lost. He speaks of about much of this in his other tracks, even makes light of it all with levity and humor. Ren speaks out about the world's Ills and all that is wrong with so many things, but does so in an intelligent and thought provoking manner, through his candid telling of his battles and struggles. There are other tracks where Ren speaks about Greed and the ills of Power. Ren isn't just one thing, he's a modern day bard, storyteller, musician, producer of his own beats, lyricist-songwriter, director of his own videos, actor-performer and last but not least....relatable and down to earth, with no pretenses, no facades....He is just Ren.
