For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕
Thank you so much ❤ (Someone with a 11 month old TRAINED rescue GSDmix in a slight regression) If someone ever told me I would cry because of a dog misbehaving and pulling on a leash. I would say that its impossible.
@AIGlitzandGiggles I completely understand. You're not alone. But it gets better. Just stick with a solid routine with the dog, practice everyday, and it'll get better. Keep up the great work! 🐶❤️
What a lucky boy Reggie is. Can’t wait to see him grow up. I’d love a German Shepherd but I know I’m not the right fit as an owner for one. I love the fact you are sharing your own experience with us as it’s all very well telling people what to do, ie crate training, but seeing what you do actually do yourself makes it so much easier for people to follow.
Thank you from across the pond in the US my puppy has not had a single accident since I brought him home he is potty trained and lets me know when he has to go and every single time so far over the past 8 days he has been a perfect little angel I've been really trying hard to make sure that I'm in tune with him so that I can solve problems before they even happen including things like chewing or picking stuff up off the ground Etc anyway I've enjoyed all of your videos
Please show us how you introduce him to your other dogs! No good videos on TH-cam of introducing new puppies to older dogs. Love everything you do! Thanks
I've dbeen watching your videos for a little while now and I was so excited when I realised you were getting a German Shepherd puppy. I pick my GSD puppy up on Monday 21st.
Just got an 8 week old puppy. Keeping him in one room til my playpen gets delivered, but been watching him like a hawk and he already has pooped outside!! 💛
HI Will, Reggie looks really chill, can't wait to see more of your journey with him. Quick question, the vlogs you mentioned with Reggie, are they already up on the Perfect Puppy course? We pick up our GSD this coming Sunday, I was 50/50 on buying your course purely because the youtube content has so much information and still working through that, but if the Vlogs are up already then that would clinch it. I love the idea of the full training sessions.
super helpful, I got a mini aussie shepherd coming next weekend and his temperament is similar to your GSD. This has answered a lot of my questions for day 1 :
Our mini american shepard isn't that calm when he is sleeping lol when we did the crate training with the puppies for the first week or so we always played a dvd of swamp people really low but since they noticed the lights and heard some voices it went well... Our dogs are 5 years 2 years and 7 months....
Maybe an odd question! (Preparing for when we get a puppy) What if your puppy goes to sleep at an earlier time than you’re actually going to bed? Like fast asleep at 9pm and you go to sleep around 10:30/11pm? Would you wake up a sleeping puppy to prevent this / wake up and take it out for the toilet before going to bed?
most people advise not to wake a sleeping puppy, but if ur worried about pottying- i would say just go ahead! if ur lucky they will settle right back down and go to sleep again.
Wish I'd seen this last week. I fell asleep on the sofa the other day and felt my puppy go to sleep on top of me so I left him lol. Didn't seem to effect his crate training though and still sleeps through every night.
We are about to pick up our puppy in a couple of weeks. Sadly, we're having to pick her up in the evening, so there won't be time to do any crate training really before bed time. Does anyone have recommendations for that circumstance? I'm really glad this series is lining up with us getting our puppy so we can train right along :D
I got a dog from the shelter who was super chill like that, and it turned out she had a virus. When the vet made her healthy, that chill attitude was gone. 😂😂😂
??I will be getting a European Doberman soon and already got a breeder in mind, any tips on what to look for in the puppies when looking at the litter ??
Check out Doberman planet - lots of in depth videos on specifically Dobes. McCann has a video on the pup named Euchre that I fwd to my students if they haven't gotten their pups yet. Hope that helps.
Hi will, im into day 6 with my 8week old female cocker spaniel and ive stupidly just wat hed this abd thought ohhh shi* ive gone wrong so fast. PLEASE can i ask for some pointers on a few areas before i get further down the line
I’ve got a border puppy, 8 weeks and a few days old and been home for 3 days, he’s great with potty training but he’s gets over excited when playing and then starts biting hands clothes etc, we do the startle and re-direct but is there anything more I should be doing?
I was always under the impression its not safe to put a 8 week old puppy down outside. Especially in a public place (like I seen you have a pit stop in the last video on the way home with him on some grass). Cause of unvaccinated dogs or more likely foxes walking on said ground and maybe leaving illnesses for them to catch . Is that not true? Or can pups have their second jag sooner than 10 weeks? Genuine question.
Just keep them away from areas that are high traffic with unknown dogs: dog parks, pet stores, etc. Other than that, having them around neighbor’s dogs that are fully vaccinated and such is fine. He mentioned that when he stopped, it was at a place that had little dog traffic.
It's not possible to give the jabs in a shorter time span, it will be too much for the immune system Against rabies the first jab is with 12 weeks, the 2nd with 16 weeks and you need to wate a few days after the shot, because it's hard work for the body, the puppy will need some rest
Just to add to the answers, a puppy is still at 8/9 weeks old largely protected by the antigens of the mom’s immune system, which is what keeps them safe the first weeks of their life :)
@@sofienya that could end fatal for the puppy, because you remove the puppy from the environment where the mothers and puppys immun system was adapted to plus the puppy is removed from his sibblings, whats is a big emotional dystress and also has negative imprint to the immune system
My understanding, which is admittedly nowhere near Will's, is that the highest risk comes from having direct contact with a vaccinated dog / fox. So whilst its best to keep an unvaccinated puppy within the confines of your property, a quick stop here and there is fine
I’m sure it’s good and all but resting in his crate, then when he comes out he has to chill (rest) on his bed. He’s totally confined to his behaviour being perfect for when you want him to jump and how high. Isn’t Reggie eventually able to roam from room to room as he pleases? He might want to protect the house and go into disciplined and protective mode would you deny this behaviour that’s instinctive?! Seems very too confining. Unless once he’s trained you do allow him free roam cos you are confident he now knows how to behave?😊
One of the rarest breeds that doesn't look cute even as puppies. But, what they lack in looks they make up in loyalty and trainability. Wonderful breed in the hands of the right person.
@@Addified That's not what i meant to say. When you here somebody say that they have a 'cute dog', a gsd isn't something that comes to your mind. But when you here a loyal, trainable dog, it's the first breed you think about.
Personally, I think long-haired, straight-backed GSDs are the cutest, most gorgeous, best-looking puppies out there. Reggie wil just get even more gorgeous as the the coming weeks go by.
Not helpful for using Reggie as an example for handling the complex first many days of a puppy in the house. There are so many situations NOT addressed when he is so trouble free. Get a puppy that is a handful to teach how to deal with those situations. Please?
If you need to lock your dog up in a prison then you are the problem. I am on my 2nd GSD and she has complete freedom in the house and is brilliant, she knows her boundaries and she respects them. I could leave a chicken dinner on the edge of the kitchen bench and go our for a few hours and it would remain untouched. If we get a visitor we tell them to sit down then allow the dog in to see them. On an evening she sleeps top of the stairs, on our bed, where ever she likes, she is a very happy dog, I can't understand why people buy a dog then lock them up, disgraceful.
Looks to have a beautiful temperament. Hope we see Reggie’s journey to adolescence… we learnt so much from the Cone Corso series.

I have owned Irish wolfhounds and due too there size as puppies i never crate trained them but i can definitely see the wisdom too it
I have had 3 GSD's and one King Shepherd. These are great tips. Thank You.

I’m receiving my little girl in 3 weeks😍
What is the behavioral reason you say not to let the dog sleep with you? Is it personal preference?
Found this vid. just in time... ill be getting a GSD in the next few weeks.
How long should each create training session last?
If you are raising a puppy for the intention of being in your assistance animal down the track, do any of these rules change?

What’s size cage for a new Rottweiler puppy I’m planing on getting?

If I close my eyes this is EXACTLY what Eddie Hall sounds like.
by "interupting the whimpering" in the crate, is that "tsk tsk tsk-ing" the behaviour?
Just got my goldendoodle..I have the opposite problem...my doesn't want to leave the crate..im trying to lure him out with treats but he won't budge

If your getting 1 puppy you should definitely get 2 puppys. Dogs need a furry friend
No. Terrible idea
I thought dogs shouldn't go out and about (not garden) after their vaccinations are done?
he does need to chew.. bring out the filled Kong that way he canhew on that not the bed or crate
