To be entirely fair to Shady here, he is a father and husband. It's not like you can remember the very specific generation for Noibat, since well, I'm going to just break it down for you, as it's highly unlikely for you to get Noibat only appears in Terminus cave at a 20% odds from CEILING drop Pokes (oh and Ariados is the other 80%), and in Victory Road (Kalos specifically ofc), you had a 22% odds of it showing up as a "drops from ceiling 'mon" and then lastly you needed a Dragon-type friend Safari to get 50% odds in Kalos and that Friend Safari has to be in slot 2, almost forgot that. You can only get it as high as 50% with it being placed in slot 2 Dragon-type Friend Safari, in short, a postgame 'mon for the most part and you needed 2 of 2 roles that are almost 1/5 odds OR you need to get a Dragon Friend Safari and place it in Slot 2 for the only other way to obtain a Noibat which MUST be evolved to get Noivern as that part of the line never shows up for catching in Gen 6, only in Gen 7. Also, you can't catch Noivern, evolution only, sources are from both Bulbapedia using Kalos Locales, and looking up both Gen 6 Noibat and Noivern on Serebii. So, it's one of those weird 'Mons where you go "really that came out in the Generation!?" and then when someone explains as to why, well, it makes more sense, as in Gen 7, you can get Noibat with 30% odds, which is the lowest of 3, with the other 2 Pokemon listed as 35% but only in Verdant cave in USUM. Meaning it's a trick of the brain where, unless you knew everything about Gen 6, you'd likely think it was gen 7 instead. Especially when you have such low odds of even encountering it in its debut Generation and the sequel to SM adds a 30% chance you'll run into Noibat in the early game, a 30% chance that you get one as a trainer in a Nuzlocke, the best odds it has before the move to the Switch, which, frankly, makes a ton of sense that two Poketubers would forget that it was Gen 6 and NOT Gen 7.
